She was already dead when he smashed into her. But sitting beside him, smiling, wearing a tie-dye outfit from the Hippie era of the 1960s, she didn’t look like Eddie expected a ghost to look.

She looked great for a dead girl. A ghost. And she didn't feel like a ghost either!

Eddie kept driving. The girl had things to say. She was saying that she’d be happy to be Eddie's “old lady” now. Eddie is just trying to stay in control of the car and not freak out at her. When the car stops swerving into the oncoming lane, he’ll find out where this dead Hippie chick came from. What does she mean, she’s his old lady?

We'll find out. As long as he stays in control of his modern microbus until he gets to somewhere safe to stop. He almost swerved again when she told him her name - no one except a girl in a Bond movie would want him to call her... that!

And they wanted to try an experiment related to caveman culture. The first rule was that we had to be absolutely honest with each other.

It was closer to the truth to say that she was just a really pretty girl addicted to love. She did nearly kill me while I struggled to save her that first few days, but that wasn't her fault. She wasn't trying to. She was literally starving to death and needed some living cellular material to come back to life. And given the nature of her needs, I didn't mind at all.

The Vital Bond that formed was good for both of us. I was a Delver. She was a Monster Hunter. What better partner could I hope for? We felt prepared for pretty much anything. Except what we actually found.
