A New (Little Golden) Book!
I am THRILLED to announce that I wrote a Little Golden Book about our wonderful Vice President, Kamala Harris!
I’m so honored to have my name on a Little Golden Book—they have been among my favorites since I was little! Vice President Harris is the first in so many ways, and as a woman and an Indian American, writing this book was particularly meaningful for me.
It will publish on August 31, 2021 and is available for preorder now!

SEVEN GOLDEN RINGS is a Mathical Award Winner!
I’m utterly thrilled that SEVEN GOLDEN RINGS: A TALE OF MUSIC AND MATH, beautifully illustrated by Archana Sreenivasan and published by Lee & Low Books, is the 2021 Mathical Book Prize Winner for Grades 3-5! I was honored to attend the virtual awards announcement on February 9, 2021 and read an excerpt from the book.

WHERE THREE OCEANS MEET Cover Reveal!
I was delighted that Mr. Schu hosted the cover reveal for my forthcoming picture book, WHERE THREE OCEANS MEET, which is gorgeously illustrated by Archana Sreenivasan and will publish with Abrams on August 24, 2021!
I wrote this story about a road trip a girl takes with her mother and grandmother, but it ended up being about love—love between mothers and daughters that endures across distance and time.

A Fabulous Release Week for RED, WHITE, AND WHOLE!
I was overjoyed to celebrate the release of my MG novel in verse, RED, WHITE, AND WHOLE, this week! I started off on release day—Tuesday, February 2, 2021, signing a bunch of books at independent bookstore like Porter Square Books, Silver Unicorn Bookstore, and the Concord Bookshop!
That evening, I had a fantastic launch with Porter Square Books in which I talked with wonderful Kate Messner about inspiration, craft, and revision. If you weren’t able to attend, you can watch the replay below—including the question that made me break into tears! It was truly an incredible evening, and I’m so grateful to everyone who attended, especially my family and friends.
After the launch, we got together we some friends (via Zoom, of course) and had a fantastic BIG 80s party in which I rocked a side pony and we played a fantastic game of 80s trivia hosted by my son! I even won second place! My husband won first place, and I attribute this to his incredible video game skills.
And then, on Saturday, February 6, I had a fantastic launch event with Books of Wonder in NYC! I signed a bunch of books ahead of time, and had a wonderful event chatting with Laura from Books of Wonder, reading passages from RED, WHITE, AND WHOLE, and answering questions from the audience!
