The Gender Secret (The Gender Game book 2) by Bella Forrest
This is the second book in The Gender Game series.
Gliding over the treacherous Green in a shaky aircraft she has no idea how to land, Violet Bates is still in shock. The harrowing events of the previous night play over in her mind as she asks herself question after question.
Why did Lee Desmond Bertrand behave the way he did?
What is the truth about the mysterious silver egg stowed beneath her seat?
What happened to Viggo and where is her brother? Is either of them still alive?
When Violet manages to reach the toxic ground alive, she has landed in a world of unimaginable danger. She has barely time to catch her breath before she is sucked into a perilous journey at breakneck speed – to uncover secrets guarded for centuries and find the only two people that matter.
I enjoyed reading this book. The storyline developed nicely and I love the characters.
Violet is great, if not stubborn. She’s stuck in the middle of this mess with the egg with no idea what to do. She’s in the green with limited knowledge of it and limited supplies.
I loved Viggos chapters in this. He’s been betrayed and framed by her, and now sent to bring her to justice. His heart has other ideas though. He learns the truth and is unsure what to think. Is she telling the truth or is she lying? Ultimately, they both find themselves in the large research building fighting for their lives.
I love this series. The world building is a great dystopian one. We learn that both Matrus and Patrus have secrets which are messed up. The storyline is brilliant, and the ending really shakes things up. It leaves you hanging for the next book in the series.
I would definitely recommend this book.

The Gender Game by Bella Forrest
This is the first book in The Gender Game series.
A toxic river divides nineteen-year-old Violet Bates’s world by gender.
Women rule the East. Men rule the West.
Welcome to the lands of Matrus and Patrus.
Ever since the disappearance of her beloved younger brother, Violet’s life has been consumed by an anger she struggles to control. Already a prisoner to her own nation, now she has been sentenced to death for her crimes.
But one decision could save her life.
To enter the kingdom of Patrus, where men rule and women submit.
Everything about the patriarchy is dangerous for a rebellious girl like Violet. She cannot break the rules if she wishes to stay alive. But abiding by rules has never been her strong suit, and when she is thrust into more danger than she could have ever predicted, Violet is forced to sacrifice many things in the forbidden kingdom … including forbidden love.
In a world divided by gender, only the strongest survive…
I read this series a while back but never reviewed it, and I’m currently listening to the audiobook and thought I’d review it this time.
I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was great and the characters were great.
Violet is a great character. The situation she’s in isn’t her fault. It unfortunate accidents which have happened. After agreeing to Matrus’ offer, she really doesn’t fit in over in Patrus.
I love how she gets to know Viggo, and I love the natural chemistry between them. Her feelings make her question why she’s doing what she’s doing with Lee.
Lee’s a sneaky bugger. He has the plan all ready for Violet and himself, and they execute it. Then at the end, he really surprises you.
I loved reading, and listening to this book. It an exciting YA dystopian. I love the characters and the storyline is good.
I’m looking forward to moving onto the next one in the series, and I would definitely recommend this book.

Professed by Nicola Rendell
This is a standalone.
At a secret masked ball at Yale, Naomi Costa is literally swept off her stiletto-blistered feet by a man with a killer jawline, a perfect body, and an even-better kiss. They bust out of an emergency exit and have axis-shaking sex. He pours whiskey in her belly button and after they run out of condoms, they have to get creative. That kind of sex.
The next day, she learns that he is none other than Dr. Benjamin Beck, a brand new member of the Yale faculty and the hottest thing to happen to academia since… well, ever. She has to take his damned junior seminar to graduate, but it gets worse. He’s also her College Master: her boss, her advisor, her everything. And he’s just moved in, right downstairs.
They can’t stay away from each other. They’re either fusion or fission or both. They’re making out in libraries, hiding notes between stones, and sneaking off to nautically themed AirBnbs. Hear that sound? It’s the academic code of ethics going up in flames.
If they’re found out, he’ll lose his job and his reputation. She’ll lose her scholarship and be forced to return to the life of lobster fishing that she thought she’d escaped.
And they will be found out, yes they will.
So what the hell are they going to do?
I enjoyed reading this book. It was a nice, quick and easy read with good characters.
Naomi was a good character. She was very down to earth and I liked how her background was a little different to everyone else at that University.
I absolutely loved Ben. He was also very down to earth, and like Naomi, he was different to the other staff. He learnt from Naomi, and learnt about himself. He discovered things he didn’t believe existed. I liked seeing him learn about his feelings.
Together, they had an instant spark. I loved seeing there relationship develop, and they were pretty hot together.
The storyline was good with the forbidden aspect. They truly fell in love, and found ways to be together. I’m not normally a fan of age gaps that big, but it worked between these two. The spark was undeniable between them.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

Earth’s Gambit (The Gam3 Book 2) by Cosimo Yap
This is the second book in The Gam3 series.
The Earth has changed. War is now fought in an alien virtual reality—the Game—where many of the players are anything but human.
Now part of the Black Rose guild, Alan heads to the Academy to level up and get stronger. He hopes to make allies and learn skills to win the battles to come. But with everyone pursuing their own agendas, what can one gamer do in a universe he still doesn’t fully understand?
I enjoyed reading this book. The storyline was good, the characters are great and the plot developed at a good pace.
Alan is a good character, although he’s a little bit naive when it comes to some aspects of the game. He relys on his AIs a lot and would be a mess without them. He’s also clever enough to gains the abilities he’s good at. It’s interesting to see him develop as he progresses through the game.
The world building is brilliant. Everything is so vivid and imaginative, which is what makes this book as good as it is. The off planet visits and other types of players are described brilliantly.
The storyline is interesting, although it can get a little complex at times. I absolutely love the pop up messages that Alan gets, and the missions. I love the way they formatted. It adds the the story and world building.
Overall, this is a brilliant RPG book. The storyline is great and the characters are good. I would definitely recommend it.

Queen of Quarantine (Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep Book 4) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
This is the 4th and final book in the Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep series.
Once upon a time I met four monsters and thought the world would come to an end at their hands.
But I was a fool.
Because I didn’t understand the bigger picture.
That the enemies I thought I knew would become the reason for my entire existence. My strength. My pain. My life. My love.
The big bad wolf has teeth and claws as sharp as iron, and the danger before my eyes is blinding. So blinding that I didn’t see the true danger lurking in the dark.
But now my eyes are wide open and I see it all.
Alone and afraid and running out of time, I’m not afraid of monsters anymore.
I’m counting on them to come for me.
Because if they don’t, this foolish girl might be lost forever in the dark.
‘I am the dark in the dead of night. Hear me roar!’
This series is an absolute masterpiece. I absolutely love the characters and the story is fantastic.
I love Tatum. She is so totally hardcore, and she really does become a savage queen in this book. She overcomes everything she’s put through, even when the world is taking the fight from her.
Nash Monroe is my favourite. He’s fantastic and I’ve loved him from the start. He fits in with the others perfectly, and I loved watching him truly become one of them in this book. Blake is the perfect golden boy, so nice and funny. Kyan is the broody beast who’s fantastic. Saint is the brains who is able to keep them all together. Compared to what he’s like at the beginning, he has become a brilliant person. I love all four of them and they’re all so different, yet great.
Their relationship with Tatum is fantastic. They all compliment her in different ways and the five of them together just works. I also loved the hotness when they were taking her together. It was great to read and Tatum’s a champ for navigating all four of them.
The storyline developed well with the virus, Kyans crazy family, and Saints dad. I think everything worked out well in the end. It was exciting and everything rounded up well. There was some touch and go moments for the characters and there was humour. I laughed and I shouted at them.
I love Naill. He’s absolutely brilliant and I loved seeing him in this book. I’m so happy that he’s getting his own series.
I also loved the sly additions of mentioning their other books. Sneaky and clever.
I’m glad that the time was taken to really explore the happy ending between them all. I think it was absolutely perfect in every way. Nothing was left out and it couldn’t have ended any better.
The last line made me laugh a hell of a lot. Absolutely priceless.
Overall, I have absolutely loved reading this series and it’s kind of sad that it’s over. The characters are fantastic and I feel like we’ve truly been on a journey and got to know them. The storyline has been absolutely fantastic, and the ending was pure perfection.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this series.

A Single Touch (Irresistible Attraction Book 3) by W. Winters
This is the third and final book in the Irresistible Attraction series.
Sometimes you meet someone, maybe meet isn’t the right word. You don’t even have say hello for this to happen. You simply pass by them and everything in your world changes forever. Chills flow all the way from the crook in your neck where you imagine he’d kiss you, all the way down, with only a single glance.
I know you know what I’m referring to. The moment when something inside of you ignites to life, recognizing their other half that’s been gone for far too long.
It burns hot, destroying any hope that it’s only a coincidence, and that life will go back to what it was. These moments are never forgotten.
That’s only with a single glance.
I can tell you what a single touch will do. It will destroy you and everything you thought you knew.
I felt all of this with Jase Cross, every flick of the flames that roared inside of me.
I knew he’d be my downfall, and I was determined to be his just the same.
I enjoyed reading this book. The storyline was good with great characters.
Bethany and Jase have been brilliant characters. It was good to see Bethany learn the truth of everything. She had ever right to be mad and Jase, but I’m glad that she gave him a chance to explain. He hid too much from her.
I loved watching their relationship grow and develop. That spark they had was hot, especially when they played with fire. They deserved to be happy with each other. The ending was brilliant as well.
I liked the storyline and it was great to see Bathany reunite with Jenny. Marcus is an enigma, although it seems like more it learnt about him in other series by this author.
Overall, this series was Jase and Bethany’s story. It was great to read and I would definitely recommend it.

A Single Kiss (Irresistible Attraction Book 2) by W. Winters
This is the second book in the Irresistible Attraction series.
I should feel shame for not wanting this to end, but he doesn’t want it to end either.
When the darkness sets in, the flames all flickered out, and the loud click of the locks signal it’s over, that’s when reality comes back.
The war. The drugs. All of the lies that leave a tangled web for me to get lost in.
I don’t want any of it.
I only want him. Jase Cross. My enemy. And yet, the only person I trust.
With broad shoulders and a smoldering look in his dark eyes, Jase is a man born to be powerful.
I shouldn’t give him more power than he already has.
Jase Cross will be my downfall.
I enjoyed reading this book. The storyline was good and the characters were great.
Bethany is a good character, but she’s hot headed and stubborn. She’s grieving, and it’s clouding her judgment a little.
I love Jase, although the secrets he’s keeping isn’t helping Bethany. They are both great together and I love that spark. The problem they have is they’re not being completely honest and it’s driving a wedge between them.
The storyline is progressing well. Marcus has Jenny, but Jase isn’t telling Bethany that. I understand his reasoning, but she deserves to know and she would listen to him more if she did.
Bathany shouldn’t have ran off at the end. She should have given Jase a chance to explain, because now she’s in a bigger mess.
I’m intrigued to read the next book after the ending. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.

Voyeur (Voyeur series Book 1) by Fiona Cole
This is a standalone novel, but the first in the Voyeur series.
I didn’t know she was my student the first time I paid to watch her at Voyeur.
Once she walked into my classroom, another smiling college freshman, I knew I should stop going. Stop watching.
But I couldn’t do it. Everything about her makes me want more, and once I realize she wants me too, the temptation becomes irresistible.
The worst part is that she has no idea her professor is the one watching behind the glass.
I just have to hope that once she finds out the truth, she wants the same thing I do. Because now that I’ve seen all of her, I can’t look away.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great and I enjoyed the storyline.
Oaklyn was a great character. I think she was far too forgiving towards her parents for using her college money, because having to work at Voyeur because of it was right. She was determined to do whatever she could to make it through the school year, and you have to admire that. Not everyone would have the guys to do what she did.
Callum was such a brilliant, complex character. At first impression, what he was doing was a little creepy. He knew she was his student, yet he still watched her there. It was a little wrong, but I loved watching them get to know each other though. Even after she knew what he was doing, she still took the time to get to know him. When we found out about his history and backstory, my heart went out to him and I started to love him. You understand why her goes there because of it. What Oaklyn did to help him was brilliant, and when he thanked her for it after, it was brilliant to read. I loved that emotional side of him. I loved watching their relationship grow and develop, especially with him overcoming his past. They were brilliant together. The epilogue was a brilliant ending.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. The storyline was good and the characters were great.

A Single Glance (Irresistible Attraction Book 1) by W. Winters
This is the first book in the Irresistible Attraction series.
I saw her from across the bar.
My bar. My city. Everything in that world belonged to me.
She stood out from the crowd like she was looking for someone to blame for her pain.
That night, I felt the depths of my mistakes. I felt my scars. With a single glance, I knew her touch would take it all away. I craved it more than anything.
I knew she would be a tempting, beautiful mistake.
One I would make again and again… even if it cost me everything.
I enjoyed reading this book. The storyline was great and the characters were great.
I liked Bethany. She was struggling with her grief, and was turning it more into anger. She knows that someone is responsible for what happened to her sister, Jennifer, and Jase and his brothers seem like the obvious choice with what Limited information she knows.
I really liked Jase and believe that he had nothing to do with it. He’s trying to help her, although she’s too stuck in her emotions to see that. I liked their little arrangement, although there is clearly a spark between them. I like how it stopped being buisness between them and turned into attraction. They were pretty hot together at times.
I think Jase needs to tell her the truth more otherwise he will completely lose her trust, especially after the ending. I’m intrigued to find out more about Marcus, and is what Jase found out really true?
I’m looking forward to the next book and I would definitely recommend it. The storyline was good and the characters were great.
