Thanks to crawling about in the Cu Chi tunnels yesterday our thighs were fully fucked today. Plus hangovery. (also, it turns out I am ever so slightly claustrophobic or highly suggestible, what a wonderful time to find that out, on your hands and knees, a long line of people behind you, in a darkish tunnel with no discernable way out) Anyway, we had to check out today so planned maximum relaxation whilst on our feet. Which meant coffee shop + very famous banh mi, you can see the line behind me + 60 minute massages + more coffee shop + some pho before we catch the bus later tonight. #phomo #canthardlyviet #cuchicuchimrsrobinson #traveldiary #saigongirl #hochiminna

Chuon Chuon (dragonfly) has ruined me for all other dogs, which is just as well, because I think the cats would gave something to say about it. The beginning of an evening which involved new friends, lots of seafood and then sidewalk home brewed rum which was popular and delicious and which we drank far too much of. Chuon Chuon was Cinderella though and went home before midnight. We leave Saigon today so I'm going to have to retire #saigongirl and #hochiminna, how sad, but Nha Trang next and I'm going to think of something punny on the bus ride. #canthardlyviet #toypoodlesthatfitonyourlap

Still full from dinner last night, that's pork ribs, very chewy but in this insane chilli and salt marinade with a little dipping bowl of sauce on the bottom left which tasted exactly like bhutta salt, all lemon and chilli and delicious. With it we got some green chilli seafood fried rice. I'm not amazing at chopsticks yet, but I'm determined to go through this whole trip not using a fork, even if it means eating with my fingers every now and then, shocking the proper Vietnamese. #sophosogood #traveldiary #canthardlyviet #saigongirl #hochiminna

Turns out we are staying slap bang in the middle of the Pahargunj of Saigon. Blasty music from all these bars competing with each other, loads of white people looking out into the streets and massages offered by everyone, from aunties who looked legit to girls in short shorts who did not. That little cart is one of the many dried fish stalls that walks up and down the streets, the lady fries it with other things and there were enough locals to eat it also. We went all the way to the end away from the noise and to a restaurant with only locals (except us) because we are old and we are looking for Authentic Experiences etc. #saigongirl #hochiminna #canthardlyviet #traveldiary

Good moooorning Vietnam! (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.) Touched down Ho Chi Minh City aka Saigon which is a much more evocative name. We're still sitting round the airport, waiting for our visas so it will be some time before we are pho and summer rolled. #saigongirl #hochiminna #canthardlyviet

Cheerful face for Sunday lunch! The only thing bumming me out about our holiday is that we fly Air Asia with no check in baggage so that means only 5 dresses and two tops. I've been making mental selections for the last few weeks to choose the winners and sadly this polka dotted dress from Sarojini Nagar isn't making the cut, it's not versatile enough even though it's so pretty and has POCKETSES. Oh well, I comfort myself with the fact that South East Asia is full of Sarojini Nagars and I'll buy as I go along. #whatiworetoday

One year ago, we decided to go legal. Which was also incidentally, six years from the day we started dating. No seven year itches today! Off to spend the day gallavanting with a movie and maybe some monument hanging. Happy anniversary to us and also a special shout out to our friend Anmol who introduced us and basically transformed my life.

This is the most inspirational book I've read all year. It could not have come to me at a better time. I'm reviewing it with another for Open this week, but I'm going to keep this copy at my desk at all times to remind me that I'm doing OK, I'm doing the right thing, I'm heading towards that mountain even when I think it's really far away. Read it as a writer, a reader, an artist, a CREATOR of any kind. You'll thank me for it. #158in2018 #bookstagram #nowreading #mrmbookclub
