It's almost our anniversary (HOW has it been a year? I feel like we just got together yesterday) (fun fact: that was seven years ago) SO ANYWAY here's a photo of just me posing with our beautiful wedding present from @ndhuldhoya and @manasisubramaniam. A decanter! We're so grown up and classy. Narrator: they were not, in fact, so grown up and classy.

Another from my Sarojini haul worn out yesterday to various social gatherings. It has bicycles and scooters on it (even though an Alto would be more fitting since that is what I drive, I have never seen anything with an Alto print. One day when it's retro!) my earrings say "Oh No" and sum up my feelings, but I had a great night despite their exclamations. #whatiworetoday

My new shoes are here from Paaduks just in time for our holiday next week! These are made from old truck tires, insanely comfortable and pretty cheap too. The ones on the right are completely waterproof, which may be of interest to my Goa friends and you know my very strong love of Kalamkari fabric. Hat tip to @manasisubramaniam who bought the first pair and then told us all about it. #whatiworetoday

In these charged up times, is it too frivolous to post a picture of my clothes? Or do you maybe need the distraction? Either way, here's a pair of pants from Sarojini, teal blue and patterned with owls, so I can feel a bit like Athena on casual Friday. The pants are export surplus from a UK brand called FatFace and I strongly suspect they're pajamas which I'm happily wearing outside because wearing pajamas as going out pants is basically my eventual goal. Also on, my new lipstick which you can barely see, Nykaa's liquid matte range in a colour called Madras Kaapi which I adore for its subtlety. #whatiworetoday

God(s), I love mythological retellings which is why I got into the myth lit business myself, but REIMAGINING is key, otherwise you're just writing it down the way it is in the epics. I've read the Iliad (and Madeline Miller's Song Of Achilles which is also amazing) but I'm only passingly familiar with the Odyssey. I know the broad strokes, the sirens, the witch, the cyclops, but this book, about the witch about living with your divinity in eternity (if you're a minor god, what else do you do?) it's long and I loved every bit of it. Seen here with the Matisse print Pasiphäe, who happened to be Circe's sister. I want to thrust this book on everyone I know who loves the old stories and the way modern writers make them shine again. #bookstagram #mrmbookclub #nowreading #158in2018

I don't know why the only photo where this dress looks best is also one in which I'm closing my eyes, but there's only so many times I can get K to take a photo again sooo yes. I have a lot of new clothes! Prepare yourself! This from Sarojini as well, they had a lot of the same cut with different patterns and I bought polka dots because obvs. I also bought a RED dress with WHITE polka dots but you can't have too many dots right? This is from last night, today I'm in a car on my way to Jindal Global University's lit fest and listening to the Babysitter's Club Club podcast on the loooooong drive there. #whatiworetoday

Bought a few dresses from Sarojini Nagar yesterday, a good haul, all for about 200 bucks each. You have to have patience to street shop though, go through the stalls, imagine yourself in the clothes, and most importantly, check if they fit. This is one of them, a sort of Impressionist painting pattern of flowers with a smocked top. I thought it was appropriate to pose with a leafy background.

An old favorite dress but not one I think I've taken a full picture of before. Bought it in Madrid at a vintage shop which sold clothes by the kilo, so I got very excited and rummaged for about an hour, before realizing it was mostly rubbish. Except this one which I loved for its wallpaper pattern, clever cut (it buttons on the inside and then clinches your waist so I feel like I've been poured into it like a woman from the 1950s or something) (it is very slightly too tight but I like that as well, it's like a corset) and of course, the STORY of how it reached me in the first place. Wearing for lunch and a Sarojini Nagar stroll with mum, one of the joys of being a freelancer, you set your own schedule. #whatiworetoday

Not my best selfie work, but this is what I wore yesterday for a book launch at Bikaner House. Separates: silk top with a high collar and an ikat printed skirt. A present from my aunt in Hyderabad, which she gave me with two other things when I was getting married so I'm delighting in calling this part of my trousseau. Such a great word! Comes from the French word for "bundle" which is what, I imagine, the bride carried with her to her new house. My bundles were mostly inside my head, but I've let a lot of them go free. #whatiworetoday
