Money is More Than Simply Having It
by Guest Author
Some people have plenty of it. Some people have just enough of it. Some people barely have any of it at all. Others only owe it. The amount of money that you have or owe is a statistic that will dictate what you are able to do today. It is also a predictor of what you will be able to do tomorrow, next week, or next year. The following is a summation of the power of money and the benefits that it can add to your life.

Money is Opportunity
If you do not have any free funds, the only trips you can afford to take are those that are within walking distance. Without money, you can forget about ever seeing other countries or taking a cruise to an exotic island. When your income barely covers your monthly bills, you better get used to the fact that the closest you will ever be to taking a vacation is hanging out a friend’s house.
Speaking of friends, forces in the world tend to lump people with similar incomes in the same circle of friends. You do not typically see millionaires hanging out in trailer parks. Therefore, it is practically impossible for relationships to grow between those who are rich and those who are poor. As a result, rich people do not often have poor friends to invite to join them in a business opportunity.
Money is Freedom
If your bank account never reaches four digits, your credit is poor, and an easy installment loan online is your only option for when cash is needed fast, it’s unlikely you’ll be moving into your own house anytime soon. How could you? On the other end of the spectrum, though, if your bank account is booming and creditors are craving your business, you have choices. You have the freedom to move anywhere you want on any day you feel like it.
Similarly, if you are stuck living paycheck to paycheck in a job that you hate, you have almost no other choice but to continue showing up day after day while waving farewell to any dreams that you might have once had. But people who have plenty of wealth can change occupations without stressing over how they will afford their next meal. And they can move into a new residence in any location without having to beg friends and family members for a loan.
Money is Security
Not only does money put food on the table today, it ensures that food will be available in the future. When you have enough money to know that you can pay your bills for years to come if you were to lose your job today, you no longer have to deal with the everyday stresses that poor people are constantly fighting to free themselves from.
Even though money provides freedom, opportunity, and a sense of security, it will provide nothing in the future without being managed properly. In other words, the best way to keep your money is by managing money. Create a habit of spending money as if you had much less of it. The same goes for earning money. If you can trick yourself into believing that your bank account is nearly empty when it is actually overflowing, you should have no problem convincing yourself to work harder to constantly earn more. Then you can be certain that you will reap the benefits of money for years to come.

Non-Surgical Options For Varicose Vein Treatment
by Guest Author
Surgery is a scary thought for most people and something to be avoided if at all possible. This is why vein doctors in modern day varicose vein treatment centers offer up some very good news to their patients every day. In almost all forms of modern varicose vein treatment, the treatment performed involves minimally invasive NON-surgical procedures that are performed on an outpatient basis. The average time for these procedures is a half hour to an hour, and in most cases, the patient returns to their normal routine by the next day. Recovery time and pain during recovery are both very minimal compared to the older surgeries that were performed to remove varicose veins.
Non-surgical options for varicose vein treatment include ultrasound guided sclerotherapy and foamed sclerotherapy, various forms of ultrasound guided laser treatment (EVLT and ELT), ultrasound guided radiofrequency, ambulatory phlebectomy, and the newer Clarivein treatments. None of these forms of modern varicose vein treatment require major surgical cuts, like they did in the old days of saphenous vein stripping. None require hospitalization and none require full anesthesia where you have to “go under” in order to endure the extensive tissue damage that occurs during surgery.

Most of these non-surgical procedures (with the exception of ambulatory phlebectomy) have one thing in common. The goal is to “ablate” the varicose vein causing the problem. If you look up “ablate” in the dictionary, you’ll find the meaning is “to remove or dissipate by melting, vaporization, erosion, etc.” In other words, the vein is NOT surgically removed but rather left in place and destroyed from within. Once the varicose vein is destroyed from within, it is still not surgically removed but rather left in place for the body to reabsorb the damaged vein tissue, in much the same way as the body would reabsorb any other damaged tissue after a minor injury.
In the case of sclerotherapy, a chemical is injected into the varicose vein to destroy it from within. The chemical agitates the vein wall and causes it to collapse in on itself. In the case of laser based varicose vein treatment, like EVLT, laser energy is used to destroy the vein from within, rather than chemicals. The laser energy is applied on the end of a very thin catheter that is inserted into the vein. In radiofrequency varicose vein treatment, radio waves are used to destroy the vein from within. The new Clarivein treatment actually combines sclerotherapy chemical injection with a mechanical abrasion technique to destroy the vein from within.
Ambulatory phlebectomy is the exception to the other forms of modern varicose vein treatment listed above. It is usually used when the vein is simply too large to leave in for the body to reabsorb it. It’s also used with larger varicose veins that are bulging out from the surface skin so they don’t require deep surgical cuts to remove them. In this procedure, a series of very small and very shallow incisions are made in the skin just above the bulging vein. Then a small hooked tool is used to tease out the varicose vein, tiny piece by tiny piece.
Although ambulatory phlebectomy is sometimes confused for vein stripping because a portion of a vein is actually removed, there are no major surgical cuts or tissue damage during this type of varicose vein treatment. In other words, it is still considered a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure. It’s also often performed in conjunction with sclerotherapy or laser treatment where one portion of the varicose vein right near the surface of the skin needs to be removed while the other portions can be more simply ablated.
For an analysis of whether or not you need varicose vein treatment, and the type of treatment(s) that would work best on your specific veins, you can schedule a free evaluation at Metro Vein Centers. This is one of the top varicose vein treatment clinics in the United States with multiple locations. Give them a call to set up the evaluation at a time that is convenient to your schedule.
There are many advantages to receiving your varicose vein treatment at Metro Vein Centers, including the fact that this vein clinic doesn’t just specialize in one type of non-surgical varicose vein treatment, like other clinics, but actually performs them all. This way, you know for sure that their recommendations on the type of varicose vein treatment you need is based on what’s best for your medical condition and not on their particular preference for the type of procedure to perform in general.

Ridding Your Walkway of Weeds Without Harmful Chemicals
by Kerri Haack
Pulling weeds can be back breaking. This is the best time of year to stay up on the weeds to help prevent their root systems from growing and spreading.
Wouldn’t you rather be doing something else? Wouldn’t it be great to get rid of weeds for nearly the entire season? You might be like me, concerned about using a weed killer like Roundup with glyphosate in it. The EPA originally found it to be safe, but some researchers have identified secondary effects in animals that were exposed to it. I wonder what that does to us?
Yikes! That’s certainly something I don’t want to expose to my children.
While trying to find the balance between time spent bent over pulling weeds, keeping my children healthy and not being the messiest house on the block, I found the miracle cure.
What if I told you there is one item, most likely in your pantry already, that will take care of it. You can cover your walkway with and not have to worry about it most of the rest of the summer. In early spring, I just spread it on, thickly, even if weeds have already started popping up. Then, maybe one more time in late summer, I’ll spread it on again. It is then weed-free all summer long. And it isn’t a harmful chemical. That one thing?
Baking Soda!
Using Baking Soda To Kill Weeds From Personal ExperienceI sprinkled a heavy coat of baking soda over all the lines in our pavers where weeds grow in April. Then, I went through with a large broom and really made sure each of the lines had baking soda in it while brushing the majority off the stones themselves. It rained the next day, so I was a little worried my 25 minutes of work had been washed away.
But now, two months later and no weeds. I even sprinkled some on existing weeds, and the baking soda totally killed them. All on its own, without me spending hours pulling them.
Why does it work? Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate’s alkaline nature can make it phytotoxic, which is a fancy word for poisonous to plants. And this does mean all plants, even your lush grass or pretty flowers. Be sure to apply carefully so you don’t kill plants you want.
Not only is it easy, taking half the time of pulling those pesky weeds, but it is easier on your wallet as well. A large bag of baking soda from warehouse club can be tremendously cheaper than those bottles of weed killer you buy from your local department or home improvement store. If you happen to have any left over, you know you’ll have plenty of uses for baking soda all year long.
Are you ready to enjoy more of your summer this year? Do you want to avoid kneeling on the ground for hours to get rid of those weeds? Are you looking to avoid harmful chemicals? Do you like saving money?
Baking Soda to the rescue!

How to Financially Protect Your Children
by Guest Author
When you think of protecting your children, you think about shielding them from the many dangers that exist in the world. You might invest in a home security system to protect your family from a burglary. Perhaps you install security software on your computer to minimize your child’s exposure to cyber criminals and inappropriate content. You may even visit the school to talk with the principal to defend your child against a classroom bully. While all advisable ways to protect your children, there is one often overlooked area of protection – finance.

As a parent, you’re financially responsible for raising your children. This not only means having the funds to cover bare essentials like food, drinks, clothes, and a roof over their heads. It also means being responsible for their education, social development, health and wellness, and much more until they’re at least 18 years of age (however, most parents would agree it lasts a lifetime). By effectively planning for the present and future, you can ensure that your children are afforded the best quality of life. Below, are a few examples of how to financially protect your children.
Plan for Emergencies – You don’t have to be an adult for too long to realize that life can be unpredictable. When you were younger, if your car broke down or you lost your job and couldn’t afford rent, you could use public transportation and sleep on your parent’s couch until you were back on your feet. Now that you have children, you’ll need to protect them in the event a financial emergency should arise. A savings account with funds for a rainy day keeps things running as normal without throwing you off budget. Backup plans like short-term loans are also an option if you’re in a jam. Companies like MaxLend offer eligible applicants several hundred dollars in one business day for emergencies.Save for College The cost of higher education continues to skyrocket. Though here is assistance like financial aid, scholarships, and grants, it can still cost thousands of dollars per semester. It is best to start putting away for college as soon as you can. This reduces or eliminates the need to take out student loans which can haunt your children for years into their adult lives. 529 savings plans are said to be great solutions for parents looking to maximize their college savings. To save so much better, investing in the stock market can be the move. You can now learn about low-risk investments on stocktrades .Prepare a Will – Though you hope this day doesn’t come in the near future, the truth is, death is eminent for each of us. In order to protect your children, you should prepare a will. This is a legally binding document that details who should raise your children (should they be young when you pass) and how your assets are to be distributed. This protects them from having to fight the state for rights to your property in the future.Get Life Insurance – Again, not a topic you want to stay on too long, however, very important. Should you pass away, you want to know that your children are financially cared for. Not to mention, when you pass, you’ll leave behind whatever financial obligations you didn’t take care of to your children. A life insurance policy can give them the cash they need to give you a proper burial, pay off any debts, and live on for a while as they grieve. There is no denying that you love your children. You do the best that you can on a daily basis to ensure that they are loved, supported, and protected. With that, it is important to remember to provide as much financial protection as possible. As life occurrences have a way of being attached to finances, it is best to make sure that your children are prepared for a financial crisis and higher education and everything in between.

Positive Existential Therapy for Postpartum Depression
The American Dream consists of getting a wife and a house, with a few kids in the mix. Having children is considered part and parcel of life, whilst some may abstain due to a lack of financial security or interest, many more reproduce generations.
Motherhood is said to be a wonderful thing, and many women are biologically programmed to want kids at a certain stage of their life. However, there are complications that come with it. Some may develop high blood pressure, diabetes or postpartum depression.
Postpartum refers to the period immediately after childbirth. When a woman has significant symptoms of depression during this period, she is said to have postpartum depression. It is often risky to both mother and the child as there have been cases whereby the mother commits suicide along with her child, believing that they are better off dead.

Quite often, these mothers have several children and she will take every single one of them with her to the grave. There was a mother who contemplated taking her own life and the life of her newborn, convinced that there was something medically wrong with her. Despite doctors running multiple tests and affirming that her baby was nothing short of healthy, she dressed her newborn in oversized clothing in an attempt to her alleged dwarfism. However, those are considered extreme cases. Mostly, postpartum depression manifests itself as a lack of interest in life, which will take a toll on a mother’s mental health and if left unchecked, could lead to serious repercussions such as the development of postpartum psychosis.
Postpartum depression affects 1 out of every 7 women after giving birth and can happen anywhere from a week to six months later. Symptoms take a hard toll on mothers and include: difficulty bonding with the baby, severe mood swings, lack of energy, anxiety, anger and panic attacks. Postpartum depression will affect the mother and the baby if it goes untreated. Some mothers even experience PTSD from the trauma of childbirth, according to the Atlantic.
Solutions for mothers experiencing Postpartum Depression
The first step to conquering postpartum depression is to recognize that it is more than just “baby blues” and that there is no shame in feeling down – it does not reflect on how good that person is as a mother.
Solutions to Postpartum Depression include medication, natural remedies and therapy. Some mothers use a combination and find what works for them. There is no exact cure that works for every mother experiencing postpartum depression. There is a new form of therapy that takes an alternative approach than traditional therapy methods.
This approach was born when Sam Nabil found himself dissatisfied with the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when in counseling school. He said to his professors bluntly, “With all due respect, CBT is dead.”
Through his studies, Nabil pioneered Positive Existential Therapy (PET), which gives a solution to the previously outdated therapy. Nabil did so by “merging the deep insights, humanity and wisdom of existential psychotherapy, with carefully curated and clinically tested elements of positive psychology, to create a counseling approach that is born of our new circumstances and conditions, and that is designed to reinvent therapy for the 21st century,” according to his website. If you would like to learn more, then visit this site that talks all about quantitative psychology.
Through his research and starting a therapy practice, Nabil founded Naya Clinics. Mothers who are experiencing Postpartum depression have an incentive to look into alternative forms of therapy such as PET. Old therapy methods may be proven to be outdated and not cater to the needs of patients that allow them to make a complete recovery.
“With my clients giving me fantastic feedback for the work I was doing with them using PET, I realized the importance of sharing this approach with a wider audience, and started teaching it to therapists joining my practice in Cincinnati,” Nabil says, “Quickly, we have been blessed to be Cincinnati’s first choice for counseling services, and I decided to start Naya Clinics to bring my new approach to counseling to you.”
This form of therapy and locations of his clinics are bound to expand as to offer services for more patients who can benefit from PET. Therapy is also offered online. Services include: relationship and marriage counseling, therapy, online therapy, coaching, online coaching, alternative healing and online relationship and marriage therapy.
This form of therapy can save women with postpartum depression and their babies. Suicide is a leading cause of death for new moms but awareness is low. Post-birth has the potential to be extremely difficult and traumatic for mothers. Postpartum depression can happen to any parent, according to the Atlantic. It is crucial that awareness is spread about avenues to receive the help that could save lives.
While there are no hard and fast facts on what causes postpartum depression aside from theories that it is caused by the change of lifestyle, lack of sleep and drop in hormones that trigger it, the fact remains that it is easily treatable by the right doctor. All one has to do is pick up the phone and make an appointment.

Stay Healthy When You Go Abroad
by Guest Author
A vacation is supposed to be a time to relax, but you don’t want to turn a period of relaxation into a period of worry. This means taking care of yourself by investing in your health before you travel, as well as making sure that you keep healthy when you are abroad.
Before Your Flight
As a note, the information here is not a substitute for a doctor’s help. One of the first things that you should do before traveling with a health issue is see one. Not only do they know your health history better than anyone, but they are in a position to give good personalized health advice.
If you are flying by air, you may want to reevaluate traveling by air if you are dealing with one of the following issues for safety reasons.

Along with these are preexisting conditions, which include the following.
Any disease that you can easily spread to other people. This will vary, but there are several resources that help you determine what qualifies as contagious.Swelling of the brain caused by bleeding, injury, or infection.Chest pain.Sickle cell disease.Severe sinus, ear, or nose infections.Severe chronic respiratory diseases, breathlessness at rest, or a collapsed lung.Psychotic illness except when fully controlled.’Depending on your illness, you may not be able to get on the plane. Several of the issues here may also apply even if you aren’t flying. It may be difficult to postpone that dream vacation, but no trip is worth putting an excess risk on your health.
During Your Trip
Every bit as important as preparing before your trip is staying healthy during your trip. Every region of the world has its unique risks, but here are some common situations you may encounter:
Diarrhea: This is probably the most common travel health issue, but having good practices on your end can make it easy to keep this from happening. The most common cause of travel diarrhea is contaminants in food. Try to avoid tap water, ice, as well as food washed in tap water. If you end up getting caught with diarrhea, be sure to invest in electrolyte drinks and other water to make up for the water you are losing. You may also need antibiotics in serious cases.
Respiratory Infections: This is as simple as a cold, and can happen with just about any place with a cold climate. In general, you may be able to power through, but keeping decongestants with you may be able to help you with these issues. In addition, keeping hydrated and getting plenty of rest will help your body’s natural capacity to recover.
Dental Issues: “Dental issues can quickly turn a dream trip into a nightmare. Therefore, a little oral care before your trip can go a long way. Loose dental work, fillings, cavities and chipped teeth are all examples of ways that things can go wrong”, says Dr. Michael Juban of JubanDental.com. If you have potential areas of risk (like fillings and dental work), it may not be a bad idea to schedule a dental visit a week or two before you leave. There are also a few home remedies that can help you deal with issues temporarily. These include clove oil for mouth pain and warm salt water rinses to keep problem areas clean.
If you plan on staying somewhere for a prolonged period of time, it may also be a good idea to see what type of health providers are in the area, like a hospital or emergency dentist. Hopefully, there would be no need for their services, but it’s a good idea to be prepared, especially if you are engaging in activities that have some level of risk or have preexisting conditions. However, if you do so, be sure that you are looking up credible medical professionals. In some cases, it may make more sense to wait until you get home if you are on a short trip and don’t have a viable option.

Temper Tantrum at Age 10
My ten year old daughter still hasn’t outgrown temper tantrums. She was frustrated with her homework this evening and decided she would scream, yell and not listen to her father. She should have just tried her best to complete the homework assignment.

Like most ten year olds my daughter loves to spend time on the computer. When she threw her fit we took computer time away from her. This caused her to scream even more.
She is active on a website called wetpaint.com. On this site users can create web pages together and become “members” of each others sites. My daughter acted like it was the end of the world because she couldn’t use the computer tonight.

For more information on how you can control your child‘s temper tantrums visit:
Tantrum Stomper.com
I have learned that every child responds to discipline differently. Some children learn from just being sent to their room while for others going to ones room could be a reward. If you are having difficulty disciplining your child try different things. What does your child enjoy doing? Taking away privileges can work on some children ages 8-teen. If you have younger children try using rewards for good behavior.
When my daughter was 8 we made a princess chart. We used a sheet of poster board and created a “Princess castle.” Her princess moved up the steps when she behaved. When her princess made it to the castle she was able to open a window to find a reward. I used simple things for rewards such as going out for ice cream, or spend $5 on a toy at the store. If she wanted a bigger reward she could save up her windows and get something like a new computer game. For boys you could use a race car. When the car finishes the race he can peel back a tire to find his reward.
We are still working on controlling our ten year old’s temper. I swear sometimes I think she is ten going on sixteen! Good luck to you with your children!

These Common Kitchen Ingredients Will Boost Your Family’s Health
by Guest Author
Had enough of the superfood craze? Are you tired of seeing lists of exotic foods that are way out of the price range of your monthly food budget? And even if you do manage to get a hold of some superfood ingredient, do you feel stressed out not knowing what to do with it, now that it’s on your kitchen counter?
You might be glad to find that a few common staples pack a powerful nutritional punch. Here are 3 common ingredients that can be found in your kitchen, or are otherwise re easy to source, that are guaranteed to boost your family’s health.

Turmeric
Often seen as a powdered spice, or as an oil, turmeric is an ingredient that is both an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory. You might only be familiar with it as the yellow spice you add to your once-a-week curry night. But after reading this, you might want to consider adding it to other foods due to its intensely packed nutritional value.
For the circulatory system, it is said to help relieve stress. It is also considered a digestive aid and liver detoxifying aid. Turmeric has also been known to promote kidney function.
Convinced but don’t know how to incorporate it into more of your family’s meals (outside of curries)? Consider adding a dash of this spice to your kids’ scrambled eggs or omelets. Kids tend to be suspicious of new foods. But since the yellow of the spice is partially hidden by the yellow of the eggs, they’ll take that first bite without cajoling from you.
Another simple way is through adding it to milk, AKA Golden Milk. Which is a magical combination of turmeric, ginger, and milk. Hide the yellow color with honey, if your kids are on the picky side, and you want them to taste it without too much coercing.
Are you worried about your or your partner’s weight? Or perhaps your children are a bit over the recommended weight for their age and height? Perhaps their last health checkup showed certain individuals in your family are pre-diabetic? Wish your kitchen cabinet had an ingredient that could help your family lose weight, cut down on hunger cravings, and help you cut the belly fat?
Guess what? Apple cider vinegar does all that and more.
For those who are pre-diabetic, apple cider vinegar can help to keep blood sugar levels in a normal range. Additionally, it has been shown to improve insulin response. And the benefits are most pronounced when taking the vinegar with a meal.
In many studies, apple cider vinegar was found to promote weight loss and reduce fat around one’s belly. In fact, Healthline notes that those who took 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per day lost up to 2.6 pounds during one study.
Need some ideas on how to add apple cider vinegar to your family’s daily meals? Try it the British way and splash it on battered fish and chips (AKA french fries). Use it as a dressing on salads. Add a little bit to the fruit juice you serve your kids. Once they get used to the flavor, slowly increase the amount to up to a tablespoon per drink.
  Cinnamon

Cinnamon’s super power is not only that it makes desserts taste better. But that it does so while also being good for your health. It’s the family-friendliest ingredient in town due to being delicious and nutritious.
Have a teen under your roof who has been introduced to their first taste of acne? According to certain cinnamon studies, this spice could help to banish breakouts. In fact, some experts recommend creating a topical face mask of honey plus cinnamon as a way to keep acne at bay. If you are looking into excellent honey Tupelo Honey for Sale site is a great option.
Further, cinnamon is packed full of antioxidants. Antioxidants help prevent damage to one’s cells. This pretty much means that antioxidants are one of the main ingredients needed to keep your body operating in top form.
But really, one of the best things about this spice is the ease with which you can add it to your family’s existing, favorite meals. At breakfast, it can be sprinkled on top of cereal, toast, oatmeal, tea, or coffee.
It might surprise you to find that you can add it to a meat sauce, or use it to season vegetables, too. Try adding a little to a few savory dishes. Go light on the flavoring at first. Your family will be hard pressed to figure out that secret addition that made today’s dinner get a full five stars!
