Snippets!

So today I’m going to post a few snippets from my current writing project. (remember it’s a secret? Changes/Updates)

BUT because you follow my blog you’re special so you get some snippets! (no actually it’s just ’cause I couldn’t come up with a blog post.. (haha kidding (no I’m not)))

Also I took out some of the names because… #spoilers

Snippet #1

— shrugged and handed ***** her plate. “How should I know? That’s the housekeeper’s department, or Mother’s.”

“Mine soon,” ***** said. She picked up a blueberry with her fork.

“I’ll have to write +++++++++ and ===== to inform them of the events. I suppose I’ll have to write Queen Louisa too.”

“Stop worrying about it. That won’t help.”

He took a bite of egg and chewed thoughtfully. “I suppose not,”

Snippet #2

Oh,” #### said. “Oh —!”

“Don’t worry, we’ll be fine. I’ve already talked to ***** about it.” — stopped walking, turning to his sister. “You should know, Father isn’t going to live for more than five years, #####.” he said, using ####’s old nickname.

No,” #### said. “No!”

“I’m sorry,” — said. “Don’t tell anyone yet. I’ll tell !!!!! and //// after I tell the council.”

Snippet #3

“You want the coranation in two months?” the queen asked.

“Yes,” ***** said, — nodding.

“I’m sure the staff can do that,” Queen Amanda said. “I assume it will be held in the chapel?”

“Of course,” — said. “Father’s was there.”

“And you want purple and red?”

“Is there an option?” ***** asked.

“Not really. You’ll need a seamstress to make a gown, and you- — – will need a new suit. Send a note to your tailor.”

“Let them figure it out, Amanda dear,”

All eyes turned to the king.

Enjoy! Have fun reading! (also if you really want to puzzle out who I’m writing about, I used the same amount of letters as their real name. Ex: Loretta would be ^^^^^^^, both ‘Loretta’ and ‘^^^^^^^’ have 7 letters)

New Challenge- and a schedule!

So hello everyone! I’ve done a few things since I last checked in!

First things first, I’ve come up with a schedule! Every Wednesday I will post a writing prompt. Every Saturday I will do a blog post or an update, etc. The prompts will all be posted on Pinterest, where I made a new account dedicated to this website! You can find it here: https://www.pinterest.com/lorettamz/ (I’m still setting it up, so it’s a bit boring right now)

Secondly, the challenge! Like I said, every Wednesday will be ‘Prompt Day’ I’ll share one or two prompts, and I’m challenging you to write with them! Someday I might set up a contest and have a prize, deadline, word count etc., but for now, if you do write on the prompt either comment on the blog post or Pinterest post and tell me!

So bye for now!

Changes/Updates

So I made some MAJOR design changes to the blog (obviously) and I’m just checking in with my lovely readers to be sure you approve!

Comment if you have suggestions etc.

Also, I have 122 followers!! Thank you all SO MUCH! I never thought I’d have that many! Remember my goal of 50? I’ve made a new goal of 150. *inwardly really nervous but also excited*

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve never been real steady with my blog, sometimes posting all the time sometimes going weeks without a post. I’m going to attempt a schedule (since I’m afraid that once school starts I won’t post at all) and post once every week. (What day I haven’t figured out… yet)

Exactly a month from today A Princess at Heart, the final book (for now) in the Fairy Tale Chronicles will be published (which is sort of a crazy thing) and I’m preparing for that now. You can find information about Alpha reading etc. here

I’m currently formatting and final editing APH… not altogether fun stuff but not awful either!

As for my current WIP (work-in-progress) (those of you who are keeping track know I’ve been hinting at a science fiction story) I’ve decided to try an experiment and not tell anyone anything. (other than one more hint- I’m sorta dropping the sci-fi thing for now. I’ll come back to it though) That’ll be sort of crazy! I’ll keep people updated on the writing itself, but the title/info won’t be widely known. Although if you know me… I might tell you. (…Gracelyn… ;P I tell you everything)

I think that’s all for now and to wrap it up I’m going to share this wonderful blog: juliascreativecorner.com

Bye for now!

The Thief, The Damsel, And The Dragon

So I am part of Angela’s blog tour, and I’m SO glad I got a chance to read her book! I’ve been wanting to for a while now.

First of all- I love the color scheme of the color! I’ve always liked red and black.

Description:

“… the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.” ~ Psalms 91:13

Edward Prosner is going to steal from the small town mayor of Fall Springs, North Carolina. He’s got a flawless plan of action and is determined to return honor and justice to his father’s good name. The problem he faces? He needs a date for the mayor’s dinner party.

Lucy Levitt is a huge romantic at heart, but with her family’s ranch and her part-time job, she has no time for dating. She believes God will place her soulmate in her life when the time is right. When the new man in town asks her out, how can she say no?

The first date seems ordinary enough, but then they begin to realize that they can’t fight their dragons alone.

About the Author

Angela R. Watts is a sinner saved by Yahweh’s Grace and she strives to glorify the King in all she does. She’s a homeschooled highschooler who lives with her loving family and ranch animals at Step By Step Sanctuary, Tennessee. She’s been writing stories since she was tiny and hasn’t stopped since, though she also enjoys ranch and housework, painting, babysitting, and watching sunsets.

Now for my review!

4.5 stars bumped it up to 5 because I loved the Christian aspect and that refreshing romance!

Prose: 4/5

Romance: 5/5

Characters: 4/5

Plot: 5/5

Prose

I’m not the greatest at judging prose, but to me, this seemed good. Not exceptional, very good, nothing less.

Romance

Wonderful! I’m a bit biased, but oh well… I love how it wasn’t oh hey I’m in love with you let’s get married and they took a little more practical view. Also. Ed… ha ha! He didn’t even know he was falling for her! *broad smile*

Characters

Good! I felt like some of the minor characters were a little ‘cardboard’ but Ed, Sean, and Lucy were pretty well-developed. (also, Mikey!! He’s so funny!)

Plot

This was a very good point, it was very well-paced and flowed well. I liked the plot.

Overall

I loved it! A great novel! It was shorter than I’m used to (but to be honest that was refreshing, I usually read 200-400 page things)

Content: one cheek kiss, lots of talk about God/bible but I like that.

Be sure to visit Angela’s blog to hear more about this amazing book!

The book is not up for purchase yet, but you can find it on Goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... and Angela will be posting an Amazon link on her blog soon!

Note: I’m going to be gone until Sunday so byeeee!

SIFI Story

Hello again everyone!

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll notice that I’ve been hinting at another story… a SIFI story. Here’s my current description: (just a draft)

Princess Adeline Davenport (from Earth, United North America) travels to Mars (England) with her parents in the year 2999, at the turn of the century. She is meeting Prince Eric Atwood, who is a ‘potential suitor and marriage partner’ (her father’s words) a marriage would suit both kingdoms, and upon meeting Eric she decides that he is ‘nice enough’ and could stand a life with him until she meets the royal adviser George Dandridge. George is everything she’s ever dreamed of, and more. Prince Eric… So Princess Adeline must decide between her heart and her country all while trying to follow her God.

And a snippet:

“Are you packed yet?” Elisabeth asked.

Adeline looked up from her vidscreen. “No,” she said, making room on the couch beside her. “Why?”

Elisabeth jumped onto the couch and leaned over the vidscreen. “Because you’re leaving tomorrow.”

Adeline tilted the screen away and turned it off. “I know,” she said. “I thought MK could pack for me.”

“That silly droid?” Elisabeth shook her head. “She’ll never pick out matching colors. Let me help.” She hurried to drag a case out from the closet.

Adeline frowned and closed her eyes. “I don’t want to pack,” she muttered.

“Aaaadeeeeliiiiineeee!” Lynn sang, sweeping into the room and sidestepping Elisabeth. “I know you aren’t happy about going to Mars. Now tell me why.”

“I don’t want to marry Prince Eric. I’ve spent the last half-hour researching him, and he’s so…” she hissed under her breath. “Non-standout. Nondescript. Boring.

Elisabeth abandoned the case and hurried over. “Really? But he’s handsome.”

Adeline shrugged.

Now the real reason why I’m sharing all this! I need title ideas. So far I have

For Love or For Country
The Turn of the Century
Lost Love
Losing Love
A Princess’s Country

So you get the idea. But none of these really fit. Any ideas, readers? I’d love some help! So please comment or contact me with your ideas and inspiration.

The Coronation

The Coronation by Livy Jarmusch

This book was amazing and wonderful and I couldn’t stop reading!

Okay so a few days ago Livy Jarmusch contacted me via my blog asking if I would be willing to read The Coronation in exchange for a review. I have been wanting to read this book for WEEKS, so of course I said yes! She sent it to me Saturday, and I read it that day. ALL 400ish pages of it.

Anyways… Now that I’m done being excited…

Characters:

Addison was wonderful, although a bit stereotype at times.

Bridget… I love her. I can’t say too much ’cause it’s all spoilers but yeah I love her

(Hope might be older… I’m not sure) Chastity… I love her story! Can’t say too much, but the ending and the last chapter… it was all just fangirling

Hope… I’m kinda mad at David… I mean yes she you-know-what but the he just was like… I mean… Okay? I realllly respect her (Hope), and thank the author. Because of her end and all that. I feel like a lot of girls age need that message.

Everyone else: Millie and Will are so cute, Jillian is just sorta there, and Ash-something (don’t remember his name) is…. Complicated

Vanessa…. Let’s just say the next book is gonna be GREAT. (;

Plot:

Very nice! Carried through wonderfully, not a dull moment. It felt a bit slow at first, but not for long.

Setting:

SO AMAZING. So… the setting was super realistic! I feel like I could walk into their castle and just see Addison sitting at the bar in the kitchen talking about you-know-who with Bridget! Livy did a great job of adding little discreet mentions of layout/style ect.

Content:

a few deaths, an almost-kiss, people end up being shot

All in all- an amazing book that you should totally check out!
