I posted on the Rosella Tolfree blog site, a backgrounder on Eduarda Martínez- “The Putin of Mexico”. These events involve another conflict between the U.S. and Mexico which results in loss of territory from the U.S. this time. All these things happen way before Rosella's time though.

Rosella Tolfree's World and Current Events of the Russian-Ukraine War

I’m finding it hard these days with Russian-Ukraine War taking place in Europe to write anything for Rosella Tolfree’s World. I predicate a lot of her world on current events and extrapolating them into the future. But I do not know where this war is going. I see multiple possibilities from a negotiated peace and cease fire for the next ten to twenty years to Putin getting everything he wants to all out thermonuclear war (which in theory is the least likely).

 
While many think-tank pundits thought the War in Ukraine was inevitable, for me, it was a shock. The invasion of Crimea was back in 2014, but it didn’t make a dent in my consciousness, unlike the COVID-19 pandemic and the events of 9-11. And I was old enough to pay attention back in 2014, but clearly it wasn’t a big enough thing in our nation to leave an impression.
 
As a fiction writer using current events, I’m simply going to wait it out. Work on some other projects for a time. If we all don’t get blown up from a nuclear holocaust before then.

Feeling Old Age Setting In

The other day I got news of an old friend I hadn't seen in long while had passed away due to surgical complications.

Now I find out the one of my favorite singers (Meat Loaf) from my youth just died.

I'm really feeling old age setting in where all the people you once knew are disappearing.

The Drums Keep Beating for the JSD #5 to be finished.

Work continues on the JSD #5... which contains a few of the Rosella Tolfree stories spanning her early years with the Ranger Marshals to her mid-point in her career.

The long-term plan is to publish the complete life of Rosella Tolfree. A series of installment stories. A kin to short short fiction, but when read in sequence you understand the plot arches and characters. Think of them as chapters.

Sorry, I’m autistic, so I don’t write or think like famous authors, like Asimov or PKD, everyone is used to. Keep this in mind when reviewing my works. 

I could be wrong, but I don’t think either were autistic. I know PKD had mental issues, while Asimov was a heavy drinker.

I write and think mostly in brief scenes that, when tied together, make sense. Ironically, when my writings are analyzed, they are akin to Michael Connelly or James Patterson. Neither of these people writes science fiction.

The Future of Food is the Entomo Diet

 

Entomo is a future colloquialism for entomophagy, the consumption of insects. While many animals eat insects, there are today “3,000 ethnic groups” that “practice entomophagy.”
Typically, western cultures see eating insects as gross. But by Rosella Tolfree’s time, the consumption of insects has become commonplace.

We are all a little autistic.

We are all a little autistic- Genes, Autism, and my NT Wife.

This is a piece I wrote on Medium about how my wife and I share the same autism genes, and yet she’s not autistic while I am. I have a theory about this based on my research, which if true means autism may be more common than we think.

Who is the Character Rosella Tolfree to Me, the Author?

Rosella Tolfree to me is more than a simple main character set in a dystopian future. For me, she represents the fulfillment of joining with something larger than oneself. That spiritual journey into the unseen.
Yes, Rosella is imbedded in a sci-fi world of technological realism, but there’s more awaiting humanity. Countless have spoken of alternative dimensions and planes of existence, of sprites, elves, and a host of fantastical beasts, but for Rosella, she’s my personal fulfillment of that desire to see these and come to know them. Again, that of the unseen.
In time, the two worlds of the unseen and seen collide. Once something is explained by science, it’s no longer in the realm of fantasy.  What was unseen has become seen.
The JSD 5 stories are a brief snapshot of Rosella’s life. The plan is to have all the stories stitched together into one book, chronicling her life story.

Imagine a time when human genomic perfection is created. Those with genetic defects are no more, and yet the 15% who are still imperfect are allowed stand beside them (assuming the authorities do not catch them).
