Day 1,777: This time for real

Okay, so during my work travels today, I realized that I went back in time somehow and mis-numbered my blog posts by 220 posts. Something as simple as accidentally switching two digits, and all this mayhem.

The result: this is day number 1,777 of the daily blog challenge/project/life choice. Now we’re back on track. Huzzah!

It’s a bit crazy to think that I’ve been doing this for so long. One thousand, seven hundred, seventy-seven days. Almost five years. Less than a year away from 2,000. Nuts...

“By Any Other Name” – Chapter 2

The events of this story take place in the Starstuff Universe some years before (or after?) those of the Starstuff Trilogy.

There is only one lift that goes down past level 1,500, the marker between the lowest level of the Mids, and the beginning of the depths. The circumference of the planet is tight down there. The mines are clustered around the one shaft. The lift delivers food, water, clothing, and equipment. This is in return for the refined starstuff ore that is placed inside a...

Day 1,777: Let’s Do This

Okay. Tomorrow is going to be a 4K day. It’s happening. I’m ready. Let’s do this. I’m going to get up on time, walk the pups, and slightly adjust my morning routine. Full breakfast is coming after my first writing sesh.

Today…was nice. A good, calm, fun day today.

I woke up early for a Sunday, walked the pups, and ate breakfast whilst I watched the first 49er football game of the year. We lost. Garrappolo didn’t play all that well. He wasn’t terrible, but he made some pretty crucial mistakes....

Day 1,776: Le Quicks

Quick one tonight because I have to sleep so I can get up and WATCH SOME FOOTBALL OH YEAH GO NINERS…we’re gonna lose, but whatever, that’s beside the point…

I had a so so day today. Woke up early unexpectedly, which threw a wrench in my schedule somewhat, but I needed to get some sleep anyway after this past week, and so I did. Slept in after I fell back asleep, and took a nice nap in the evening as well. I cleaned some of the house, more of that tomorrow, watched the A’s win–sweep tomorrow?!...

Day 1,775: What to say?

What to say?

It was a rough week for me this week work-wise. I did almost nothing. Almost no progress on either of my projects, the last major rewrite of book 2, and the novella. It was both my doing, and it wasn’t. Life stuff happened, but I also sat on my couch and watched baseball. I still made choices not to write.

It was a sobering week. It was a reminder of how easy it is to slip into complacency, and to lose focus.

Sigh…

I can do better.

I was listening to music tonight and texting wit...

Day 1,774: Four Years

The wife and I have been married for FOUR YEARS today.

It’s actually not all that mind-blowing, that four year number, given that we’ve been together for fourTEEN. But, still…it’s an amazing day because I couldn’t be happier. We did so much mundane, errand-running shit today, and it was perfection because we got to do it together.

Anyone out there who wants a happy relationship, this is my advice: find someone that you just enjoy doing everything with. There’s nothing I’d rather do alone than...
