Day 1,804: sigh

Still sick. Had a fever most of the day. Blech.

Hope tomorrow is better, but from what I know about this particular virus, it’s gonna be a couple days. We’ll see. Shouldn’t be too bad.

2018 Movie #60: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

My journey through the Miyazaki complete feature collection continues! His first feature was certainly not quite as deep or epic as what we’re used to from the japanese animation master’s “golden age,” but wholly moly was it fun and visually impressive. Nausicaa is another one I know virtually nothing about. I don’t even think I’ve ever seen the movie poster for it. I went into it wondering if I’d see more of that Miyazaki epic quality…and yes. Holy crap yes.

Day 1,803: Sick

I’m coming down with a cold. I know I am, because I’ve seen these very same symptoms play out first-hand very recently.

Uuuuggghhh.

But, it should just be a cold. It’ll last for about a week. I’ll feel pretty shitty for three days or so, and then things will get better.

Timing-wise, it sucks because I’m coming off such an incredible week…but here’s the thing: I actually believe this past week was no fluke. I really do think this new schedule was key in this week being so successful, NOT pure...

Day 1,802: Vandal

So, the Ho and I watched the entire first season of American Vandal tonight. Like, from beginning to end. And that was AFTER a full work day for me, writing, workout, reading, other miscellaneous stuff and everything. Even laundry!

This new schedule, guys…it’s pretty dope so far. At least one week into my experiment. It’s going well.

Day 1,801: All Mine

4K Day was all mine today. Yeeesssssss.

I did it all today. Everything. Building work: check. Office/Misc Author work: check. Work out: check. Reading: check. Four thousand words: check. Hang out with the Ho and watch a movie: check.

It was just one of those dope days. I love my new schedule.

But, it’s sleep time now. Good night

2018 Movie #59: Kubo and the Two Strings

Easily one of the prettiest movies to come along in a very long time, it was made up in Portland! Land of the siblings for Liz and I! I remember seeing the hype around this movie last year, never quite understanding what the movie was about, but knowing that people were talking about it.

Day 1,800: I Want 4K

I want 4K.

No, not the TV resolution. The writing goal. That’s what I want tomorrow. Just saying it out loud.

Here’s the plan: have a decently restful day during the day tomorrow (get my stuff done early)…and then rock the writing. The key is always getting the first two sessions done to total 3,000 words. If I do that, I’m always golden for the last 1,000. That’s my focus tomorrow, those first two sessions.

2018 Movie #58: Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

I love blu-ray collections. They’re pretty much the only kind of movies I actually buy, where I can get a whole set of something all at once. It’s the collector and the completionist in me, I suppose, but I *love* *it*.

My newest movie collection is the boxed blu-ray set from Disney of all Hayao Miyazaki’s 11 feature films. The first of which is Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, his debut as a director, and his entry into an existing film franchise surrounding Lupin the Third, a gentleman...

Day 1,799: New

This whole new schedule is…well, new. It’s still taking me some getting used to.

I will say this: I know I can swing it. It’s just gonna take that time, to rewrite my brain as to when I should be writing. It’s hard to pick up and start that for any length of time between 5 and 9pm. I’m just not used to it.

BUT: I worked out today, I got all my other work done…AND I wrote 2,700 words. I mean…that’s a huge day. Huge. So, it’s working. Little by little, I’ll get there.

Day 1,798: Maniac

Y’all, Maniac on Netflix is soooo gooooood. Truly. Fan. Tastic. Do yourself a favor: watch it.

Writing. Acting. Humor. Drama. Directing. Visuals. Characters…it’s so weird, and so funny, and so poignant. And they stick the landing, for the most part. And by that I mean that they get the ending *right*. Thank lawdy. I was 100% in. It’s one of the best-written shows I’ve seen in a very, very long time. Bowled over by the writing and the direction, particularly. And the acting.
