Day 2,811: Vestibule 2

So, Coco improved a bit today. Not a lot, but a bit.

Last night her nystagmus, which is the technical/medical term for uncontrolled eye movement, was really intense. Very rapid from side to side, and the movements were wide and pronounced. Today, much better. Especially by the end of the day.

She’s still wobbly as fuck. Her head lean is definitely toward the right side, and every time she moves it too fast, it sends her careening. She can do okay walking in a straight line, with minor stum...

Day 2,810: Vestibular Syndrome

Coco has idiopathic canine vestibular syndrome.

It came on suddenly. This morning. When I woke up, I noticed she couldn’t keep her balance like normal. She would stumble, and when she tried to shake her body and head, she’d fall over. She biffed it on the stairs. And then she was still wobbly when we made it outside to pee.

I told Liz. Woke her up. And we spent the rest of the morning calling animal hospitals to see who could take her as an emergency patient. Found a place over in Woodland...

Day 2,809: Wall

I finally hit a wall today. Lol. I was due.

For real, I have absolutely CRUSHED my writing this past week+. Eight days, I think? Maybe nine. I’ve written almost 100 pages. I’ve never written 100 pages that fast before.

Today…I’ve written zero. I was supposed to write 5. And tomorrow? I don’t think I’m going to be able to write any then, either. I have too much to do. Sigh.

But…I’ll get back into it. Next week, I shall forge ahead. Gotta get some shit done tomorrow, and probably Sunday, ...

Day 2,808: Boom

Watched 2001: A Space Odyssey tonight. Was SUPPOSED to be in 4K, but I put in the normal HD Blu Ray by accident. Oooohhh well. Win some you lose some. The movie is still dope.

Wrote my pages today. Boom. Did my Netflix work. Boom. Podcasting was great. Boom.

Now…sleep.

I have a half writing day tomorrow. I already got the extra words done back on Monday. Boom.

Night.

Day 2,807: Seventy-Five

Today was so, ever ever so so close to being a disaster on the productivity front. I was burned out. Not burned out because I’d actually done anything more than I was capable, but because resistance was treating me like a motherfucker.

I had a rough night’s sleep. Cooper woke me up in the middle of the night because he’s been so itchy lately (put him in his cone/donut and sprayed him with some topical steroids to help with that today — he’s doing much better already!), and I had a really hard...

Day 2,806: Five in a row

I’ve done it. I’ve finally done it: strung together five straight days of hitting ten pages written, or more.

I’ve never done that before. This is the first time ever.

I am exhausted. I will say that. My eyes hurt from so much screen time. Although…it’s not really that much more screen time that I’m used to. It’s just DIFFERENT. That’s what I’m learning. I’m not really working outside of my abilities. The burnout isn’t actually real. It’s just different. It’s just more than I’m used to. An...

Day 2,805: Nine, Seventeeen

Nine years ago today, we adopted Cooper from Perfect Pet Rescue. It’s crazy it was that long ago. He still looks like a puppy. Acts like one, too. He never really changed much from when we got him to the adult he became. Granted, he was already about nine months old when we rescued him, so he was almost full grown…but still. I love that he’s stayed so much the same.

The other number on my mind tonight is seventeen. That’s how many pages I wrote today. Damn proud of myself. It was the number I...

Day 2,804: Geodesic

Happy 4th!

I wrote 8 pages this morning in my two hours. That’s…a high water mark, I think. Very happy with that. The rest of my day didn’t lend itself to getting the last two pages done that I wanted to, but that’s okay. Tomorrow is going to be a big writing day, I hope. It will be. The plan is to get the vast majority of it done right off the top in the morning, which means…

I need to get my ass to bed.

But, I also helped Liz with her audition today. I took a truly zonked out epic nap...

Day 2,803: Teetering

I’m teetering on the edge right now of running away with the rest of this book. In a good way! Not a bad way. I can see the home stretch. It’d take me just over two weeks at 10 pages a day to finish the thing. I mean…that would be me sitting in bed just a WEEK from now, looking down the barrel of being done with it in just a week. The final act.

It’s a good book. It’s straightforward, sure, but I’m falling in love with my characters, and there’s some really fun stuff with the world. That, cou...

Day 2,802: A Rising Tide

Have the anxious feeling tonight of soon-to-be more on my plate than I can handle.

I didn’t feel like that today, though! Just right now. Because I’m sitting down in bed thinking about all the things I need to get done, and it’s more stuff than I have time available to me. Sigh.

No…today was a good day. Today was one of those days where I just had to surrender to the flow, and I did it rather easily. It was packed with activities that had to be done, and that I enjoyed. Liz is back home. I...
