Day 3,161: Big Sigh

Coco just let out the biggest sigh.

Busy work day today! Big time. Worked almost all the way up to bed time. With a trip to Costco and a short nap snuck in there, too. But, the work is done (early, which is how I like it), the fridge is restocked and full so I have meals at the ready for the next couple weeks, and the Bear and pups are next to me on the bed.

Life is good. Even if the world continues to fall apart around us.

Oh! And the writing was good today. I’m *this* *close* to finis...

Day 3,160: Made It

Whew. This weekend (and past week!) was a doozy. But, we made it. We’re alive.

Drained from the news. Drained from lots of (very, very fun) socializing. Drained from the heat. Met for the first time with my new therapist. Mostly just drained from being knocked out of the routine.

The weekend is usually when I recharge from all that stuff. Take a lot of “Ira” time. Things like naps, or playing music, or nerding out. A lot of not going anywhere. A lot of self care. Therapy is a huge part of ...

Day 3,159: Closing

Liz closed out her run of Chriskirkpatrickmas tonight. Last show. An added one at that. Sold out. All their shows were sold out. And they KILLED IT. Brought the house down. Standing ovation. And we recorded it. Used our little camera, plus one of the other actors’ husband’s super pro setup. Hopefully got some okay audio. And it was so fun to see it all with Kerry. Two shows; we did the afternoon show and the last show.

I am wiped the fuck out.

Night night.

Day 3,158: En Memento Mori

It’s LATE. Had to podcast later in the evening tonight because work was so busy. Le sigh. I also had to take a nap after lunch because I was literally falling asleep at my workstation. It was one of those days…

BUT! It helped. I was able to get my work (mostly) done. This whole Supreme Court news overturning Roe v Wade also really fucked me up. But then podcasting was really great. Great way to end a very long day and a very long week.

Now…sleep.

Writing this morning was great. And toni...

Day 3,157: Palisades

Spent the evening out in Pacific Palisades with Liz and her Chriskirkpatrickmas castmates. It was so nice! And so much cooler out there. It was BALLS hot today at home. Holy crap. This almost-triple-digit weather in JUNE is not acceptable.

It’s gonna be a hoooot summer.

Work was freaking long today. But, I got my shit done. Whew. Long week. Which is crazy, because the work week only started on Tuesday. I’ve just been busy as funk.

Gonna sleep now. Goodbye.

Day 3,156: DUN!

Whew. Finished a couple projects that had me HUSTLIN. Thank lawd. I also had a strong writing day. Figured some SHIT out. I think. We’ll see. It’s really, really interesting how getting to the third act showdown really exposes all of the holes in the story that’s come before it. Missed setups. Missing motivations. New ideas for payoffs that need to be planted well before in order to work.

That’s where I’m at right now. Happy to be there. Found what my adventure was in the last bit of the stor...

Day 3,155: A Step

Solid day today, y’all. Thank LAWD.

I needed to rock it today on the work front. Did that. Whew.

I needed to have a solid writing day. Did that. Whew.

And then I was actually able to have an evening. Whew. Little nap. Got to hang out with Liz’s co-stars in her play (they’re wrapping up a performance of that right as I type this, in fact). Walked the dogs, and then finished watching my 49th movie of the year. I’m back on track, baby! Almost all caught up. In fact, I guess I am caught up,...

Day 3,154: Failure to Launch

Sigh.

I was supposed to be done with my outline today. It did not happen. I did sit down and write, but I was twisted up with anxiety last night, didn’t sleep well…

I hate that. But, it happens. And what made me feel better was realizing…I just needed to put in my normal amount work today, and the same tomorrow and the next day until I was done with the damn thing. I shouldn’t try to rush it. There’s no point. It just makes me feel bad, or freeze, et.

So…I got a bunch of other stuff don...

Day 3,153: Bug Bite

Bug bit my on my butt today. Granted, I was probably destroying its home…

Did some yard work! It’s been a while. Was able to clear out half of our portion of the sidewalk of all the fracking weeds that had decided to encroach. Coops hated being inside while I did it…but then didn’t like all the grunting and loud noises I was making when he was outside with me…so we found him some neutral ground, and he hung out on the porch, and sometimes in the driveway, watching me.

I was pretty producti...

Day 3,152: Doon

We watched Dune tonight! It’s…much, much better than the Lynch film, or the miniseries on SyFy channel (by a mile). We liked it. It’s not perfect, for sure, but it did the job.

“Did the job” is fine. I had higher hopes, given the buzz about it. It was gorgeous. GORGEOUS. The cast was actually great. And I dig the pacing, actually taking time to build the story and the world. The book needs a 2-part story if you’re not going to do a limited series with it.

But, it was a bit slow in parts be...
