Day 3,190: Run Aground

I’ve run aground a bit with the writing. Sigh.

It was work. And a couple other stressors. Took the wind from my sails. But, y’all, that’s okay. I’m already thinking about how I can adjust, and here’s the idea: 10 days. 100 pages. A significant amount of work, but still so bit-sized that I know I can do it. So, that’s the next challenge. I might take tomorrow off of writing, actually, just for a breather…but then again, I might not. We’ll see.

It’s always a struggle to find consistency…but ...

Day 3,189: A Step

Today was a bit rough to start out. Exhausted all day. Had a rather large amount of work to do for ze Flix. I didn’t get up in time to write in the morning, and that usually means I don’t write at all. That proved to be true. I was ready for a nap by lunch, but I couldn’t; too much work to finish. My computer is on the fritz, I had to swap in my laptop mid-day.

Day 3,188: Holy Busy Sunday

Man, I was pretty non-stop today. Kinda like yesterday…but in a good way. Like, in a “get ahead” kind of way.

I worked on Netflix work. Set myself up for what is hopefully not so crazy of a workday tomorrow.

I got my ten pages written. Boom. Got my ass up out of bed early for that shit.

I took an EPIC nap. That was delightful.

I finished 8 1/2. I understand why it’s a big deal. I also have thoughts about it, though, particularly the ending, and a question I’ve always wanted to ask on...

Day 3,187: Birthday’d

Went to a birthday party this evening for our friend Adam Rose. He’s famous on TikTok 😛 true story! BUT…he and his wife Joanna just finished retrofitting and upgrading their backyard and it is AMAZING out there. A deck, a whole new back shed/office space, new turf…it was soooo niiiicceee. Definitely need to get our backyard in order, now. It was inspirational. And we will. We’ll get there. Eventually.

Otherwise a decently busy day, I guess. I had time to take of the pups in the morning, eat, ...

Day 3,186: Thang

Watched The Thing with J for the podcast tonight. So fun. Love that movie. So not my “style” of film, but goddamn I love it. Next week, we’re watching Hereditary. I decided to put TWO horror films on my little list of movies to watch with Josh.

Busy, busy busy busy day. Busy week. I got my work stuff done, though, thank you lawd, right on time. Need to hustle next week to do the same, particularly on Monday, BUT…I can do it. And get my writing done.

Day 3,185: Pawfection

It was a BUSY MOTHERFLUFFIN DAY today, kids…but again, I handled my shiiiiiit.

Page count: done. I’m balls deep in Act 1. Cruising toward finishing it. Maybe this weekend. We’ll see. Weekend is kinda busy, too. Le sigh. I’ll hang in there. Management expectation, you know?

It’s bed time. Not gonna hem and haw tonight. Plain and simple. Sleep time.

Day 3,184: Unstuck

Handled my BIZ-NESS today.

I’m far from “caught up.” Rather hopelessly far, I think, but that doooessnn’ttt matttteeerrrrr. This book is getting written. And so far, fast than I’ve ever written before. Which isn’t to say it’s about the speed. It’s not. Rather, it’s just an indication of how far I’ve come that I can get in the groove for as long as I’ve managed each day, and sustained that over the past almost-three weeks. How fast or how long it takes me to finish is elementary. I can’t go fa...

Day 3,183: Back in the Saddle

I’m back baby. I had a solid writing day. Only seven pages, but still. I’m set up for a full day tomorrow, which means, again, getting my ass up on time. Sigh. I hate it, I really do. But…I always have a good writing day when I’m on time. Can’t argue with that.

The show 100 Foot Wave on HBO right now is so good. We’ve been churning through it. About 2/3 of the way through 6 episodes, I think. SO. GOOD.

Day 3,182: Burnout

Ya. Ha! So…I hit burnout today. I did my writing in the morning. Couldn’t get anything down on paper. Been a while since I had a day like that.

And you know what? Still not deterred you guys. I have to get my ass up on time tomorrow morning, but tomorrow is going to be another ten page day. Mark my words. Come hell or high water, I will get those pages. Work should hopefully be a little lighter tomorrow, too, which would be nice.

Day 3,181: Flexible

So, the thing that I’ve learned about the 40-day plan is that it doesn’t really have any room for error, any room for flexibility. But, here’s the thing: I do. I have room for flexibility. I have the ability to flush the days in which I didn’t get done as much as I wanted to down the toilet and start over. Or, not start over, but just continue on continuing on. And godammit, that’s what I’m doing.
