I have been given some excellent prompts that have inspired some of my best poems and short stories. If you are struggling with writer's block, I highly recommend committing to a monthly writing challenge (or seven, as is my case) on Instagram. It gets those creative juices flowing, and you can get feedback from readers and other writers by using the write hashtags and tagging others.(less)

Hit Me With Your Best Shot!

No, really, I want to know what your Spooky Month (aka October) reads are this year - and which books you'd recommend for a good scare!

One of mine that I read earlier this year is Diavola by Jennifer Marie Thorne. It's so eerie with just the right amount of oddball humor that I love. (Maybe it's a Jennifer thing?)

Anyway, it's such a fantastic book. I'd even recommend checking out the audiobook ver Read more of this blog post »

Anne Rice
“But all morality is of necessity shaped by context. I'm not talking relativism, no. To ignore the context of a decision is in fact immoral.”
Anne Rice, The Wolf Gift

Frantz Fanon
“Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are
presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new
evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is
extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. And because it
is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize,
ignore and even deny anything that doesn't fit in with the core belief.”
Frantz Fanon, Black Skin, White Masks
