Happy Book Birthday, The Undead Pool!
It’s the last Tuesday in February, so you know what that means. It’s time to leave the cold and snow for a while, and find your way to the Hollows where it is sunny and warm with a chance of misfiring magic. The Undead Pool is officially on the shelves!
I’ll be in Ann Arbor tonight, kicking off the tour with our first event at Nicola’s. It looks like we’re going to have clear weather, and I can’t wait to get out of this house, I’m so stir crazy from all this snow! (laugh) Nicola’s is where all those signed, personalized first-edition copies of The Undead Pool have been coming from. It’s not too late to get in on this as, but I’m getting on a plane in the morning and heading to Cincinnati, so any more personalizations after tonight will have to wait until I get back. [ How to order from Nicola's ]
I had so much fun with the read-along that I extended it into The Undead Pool. It has already started, and spoilers should be clearly marked. They’re really good about that over there. I won’t be making an “ask-me” page this year, but I might start an “ask-me” thread on the Goodreads site. [The Undead Pool/Goodreads chat threads ]
Speaking of asking me questions . . . I am doing an AMA (ask me anything) over at Reddit this morning from 9-11, EST. I will be typing my little fingers off for two hours, so come on over and take part of the threaded conversations. Here’s the link to get you there, but the conversation won’t start until 9:00 am, EST. [Reddit AMA] Ask me about my work schedule, the writing craft, or even what I like to do in my spare time. It’s . . Ask Me Anything!
And finally, if you’re waiting for your copy to arrive, I’ve got a nice non-spoiler interview that just popped up at USA today. Happy Ever After

AMA (Ask me anything)
If you missed Friday’s twittertakeover over at Harper, I’m doing something similar over at Reddit tomorrow morning, bright and early between 9 and 11 (EST) I’ll have a link for you then, posted here and at FB. If you did make the twittertakeover, thank you! It was amazing.
The questions are threaded over at Reddit, so it will probably be easier to follow. Hold your questions until then, be they about the books, my writing schedule, or the craft of writing in general. I can’t wait! Again, it’s tomorrow, Tuesday, not today. Check back here for the link when it goes live.
Tomorrow is also the release of THE UNDEAD POOL! I can’t wait for that, either. First stop is out at Nicola’s, my local independent. I’ll be signing the last of the sign-to-me personalizations at that time as well, so if you want your personalized, first-edition copy before I get back in March, order today. And from there, I’m out to Cincinnati!

Ever After is up for an Audie
Keep your fingers crossed! EVER AFTER is up for an Audie this year in the category of paranormal. If you’ve never heard Ms. Gavin, go take a listen. There’s a sound bit up. [The Audies]
Today I’ll be taking over Harper’s twitter feed between 2-4 EST. If you have a question or comment, hop over to their feed and talk to me! (When I’m there. Not now.) Otherwise, I’ll probably be treating everyone to weather reports and what my dogs are doing, and they sleep a lot. [Harper's twitter]
Oh! And I was just over at Harper’s pages. The Browse Inside feature is now up and running, so if you want to read the first five chapters online before picking the book up on Tuesday, you’ve got a nice way to do it. A chapter a day, eh?
[The Undead Pool sneak peek]
I was at Nicola’s last night–signing those pre-order books! They are real, and beautiful, and all first-editions thanks to some extra care from the folks at Harper. (Ms. P, I’m looking at you! If you’ve not heard, we went into a second printing earlier this week. Now, I’m not saying the books are going to be scarce, but if you get a first-edition or second is going to depend on when your bookstore got their order. If this is something that is important to you, check before you go to the register.
“But Kim!” you might say. “How can I tell if a book is first edition or not?” Let me tell you! At the bottom of the title page will be a string of numbers. If they run 1-10, you have a first edition. 2-10, you’ve got a second edition, and so on.

Click to order
Or you can pre-order from Nicola’s and be guaranteed a first edition. If you order it now or over the weekend, we can get it processed and out the door before I go on tour. [How to order from Nicola's] This is my home store, and I’ve NEVER seen a group of people more dedicated to the reader then this. International is okay. They do it all the time.
Tour t’s have been shipped for a while now, so you should have them and the Free Vampire Society pin Guy and I included as this year’s freebie.
I just love these things. I’ll have them at the signing events as well for the first 100 or so people through the line. I can’t wait to be giving these away. :-) [Am I coming near you?]
I’ll be trying my signing clothes on this weekend. Wish me luck. I’ve not worn them in over a year, and it’s been a long . . . cold . . . winter.

Show your Hollows pride-day!
It’s show your Hollows pride day today! I’m going to do this again on Thursday, but today is a practice round where you can drop a picture (or link to a picture) of you and your Hollows Tour shirt at the blog or FB. Tuesday will be shirts OR you and your BRAND NEW COPY OF THE UNDEAD POOL! :-)
I’ve just talked to Nicola’s, and the first batch of books has arrived. I’ll be personalizing them later this week to send out, and with some luck, they will reach their new homes on release day. Want one? (order from Nicolas’s)
It is starting to feel close, people. I’m making piles in my office of what to take, and the freebies are on the way to the stores. Yay!

Still hungry for more? The Trent and Rachel short, Trouble on Reserve, is at Wattpad for your viewing pleasure. (Yay!) It fits in nicely right before The Undead Pool. Trouble on Reserve
A-a-a-and, if you’ve still not gotten your Hollows fix, take the Hollows Dating quiz and find out who your perfect match is! Let me know you you get. I got Ivy, but I’ve always had a soft spot for someone who knows how to organize and looks good in leather.

Also, I’ll be going in this week to sign and personalize first-edition copies of The Undead Pool for everyone who ordered from Nicola’s. (They ship international, but email for a shipping quote before you place your order.) B&N has gone through their signed copies, so this is the only outlet left. Once I’m home, I won’t be personalizing them any more, so if you want to get in on the action, I’ve got it all detailed out at the website, here: How to order your signed, personalized copy from Nicola’s.
Or you can pre-order a regular copy from just about anyone.

Booktalk Nation tonight!
Jeaniene Frost and I will be having a live chat _tonight_ at 7:00 PM EST. (That’s 4:00 PM out on the West Coast.) You can listen in on your phone, just as if you were at a signing event. We’ll be taking questions from the audience and twitter. (ask at @booktalknation)
To get the call-in number and reserve your spot, head on over to Booktalk Nation. They will be offering a signed-book outlet during the chat as well, so if you know you won’t be able to get to a signing this year, this might be a good substitute. (If you’re international, hang in there. I’ll have an outlet for you on Monday.)

Whatcha reading today?

Is this absolutely necessary?
If you’ve been waiting for all the little excerpts of TROUBLE ON RESERVE to file into place before reading it, your wait is over! It’s up now, and ready for viewing over at Wattpad. Do take a moment to read the author note as it explains where it fits in with the rest of the books, but reading it now, right before The Undead Pool. Comments, likes, and shares are welcome.
Trouble on Reserve
A-a-a-and, the final chapter harper is releasing before publication has been put up for your sneak-peek pleasure.
Chapter one-three
Chapter four
Chapter five
Also, as a last reminder, tomorrow night (7:00 pm EST, 4:00 pm PST), you can take part in a live chat at Booktalk Nation between me and Jeaniene Frost. From what I’ve figured out, you actually listen in on your phone, and if all goes well, take part in the discussion in live time. If speaking up isn’t your thing, you can tweet a question at @booktalknation. To sign up to get the call-in code go here: Booktalk Nation

Winners and live chat
Although this is the last give-away I’m doing, we aren’t quite done with the read-along yet, just starting EVER AFTER this week. It’s been a great couple of months as some of you re-read the entire series in preparation for the publication of THE UNDEAD POOL, picking up a few readers along the way. This, though, will be the last give-away, as frankly I’ll be too swamped with last-minute preparations for the tour to be handling a give-away. Guy, too, is working hard getting those tour-T’s out. He’s picked up the last order (placed from late November to Feb 3rd) and about a third of them are in the mail right now, headed your way. I got to go out to the printer, so don’t be surprised if, in a few years, I use the setting in a book.

Click to get sign-in code
Just as a reminder, Jeaniene Frost and I are having a live chat Thursday night. (7:00 pm, EST) If I’ve got this right, you can listen in through your phone, and if everything goes well, ask Jeaniene and me a question right then and there. Signed books will be available, too, but it’s the chat I’m excited about. To get your call-in code to join in, follow the link and sign up. It helps them figure out how many people are going to participate so they can put in the right set of protocols. Booktalk Nation.
A -a-a-a-and, the winners of the last prize pack including Rachel’s pack tattoo and two signed hard cover books are:
Rachel
Pamela
Valerie
Amy K Delaney
Heather B.
Dorothy
Rebeca Klingsten
Congratulations! Check your in-box for an email from me. You have until Friday, noon, (2/14) to return my email with your mailing address to claim your prize pack. If I don’t hear from you, I’ll give it away to the next person on the list.

A Perfect Blood flash give-away

Click for 1.99 ebook

click for 1.99 ebook
The days until the publication of The Undead Pool are down to less than a month, and if you’ve missed it, I’ve got chapters 1-3 and chapter 4 up and available for your pre-reading pleasure.
The read-along is going strong over at Goodreads as we finish up A Perfect Blood and move on to EVER AFTER, and the associated e-book sales have been a great success. EVER AFTER won’t be going on sale since it just came out, but when I checked this morning, Pale Demon is still up there for the special price. I don’t know how long they will stay up for that price, so move fast if you want them.
If you want a signed first edition copy of THE UNDEAD POOL, and I’m not coming near you for the tour, we have options! B&N appears to have run out their signed stock, but you can still get them at Nicola’s, and if you ask in the note-to-seller, I can sign them personally to you.
To order a signed copy from Nicola’s, just follow the link. International is okay!

Click to order
Today, I’m giving away seven prize packs, each having a hard cover, signed copy of A Perfect Blood, and a copy of Blood Crime, the second and final graphic Hollows novel from Ivy’s POV that shows Rachel and Ivy working together at the I.S. There’s also a signed cover flat from A Perfect Blood, a bunny pin, bus token, and Rachel’s pack tattoo, which was the freebie that year.
To enter the contest for the prize pack, all you have to do is drop down to the comment box at the end of the page here and tell me if you think Winona was what the demons looked like, or if she’s more of a hybrid. (If you’ve not read the book, then tell me what you think of the cover.) Your post is your entry into the random drawing, so please comment only once–on your honor!
Rules and Regs. I will open the page for comments Monday, 9:00 a.m. EST, and close it Tuesday 9:00 a.m. EST. I will then use a random number generator to choose the seven winning commenters.
Stuff to know before commenting:
Guy will ship overseas, so international is okay.
Chances of winning are dependent on how many enter.
My decision is final, even if you quibble over it.
I will contact the winners Tuesday morning using the email address they used to comment with, so please check it in the next day or so. If you don’t respond to me by email by Friday, noon, EST, I’m giving the prize pack to the runner up, also chosen by the random number generator.
Thanks for playing with me guys. This has been a lot of fun! And good luck!
