Fifth piece reveal of The Witch With No Name

part 5It’s cover piece number five, and  I’m jealously guarding that last corner like a five year old with her Halloween candy, saving the best piece for last. Alas, it is not a child’s hand that Rachel is holding, as some of you suggested yesterday at FB, but how cool would that have been? I wanted to wait until the cover of The Witch With No Name was revealed in its entirety before bringing up what we were going for with this cover, but you can really start to see it now. Gold stars for anyone who guesses. Some of it is trying to mirror the first book, but it goes deeper than that. I can’t wait for this to come out this September. (Right after Labor Day!)

WWNN5

Yesterday’s winners are Jess H. Lynnette H. Miranda Carie C. John F. and Tracey T.  A big congratulations, (and thank you) to everyone who entered. Your prize packs will be in the mail shortly. I am so gratified that everyone is getting back to me so fast. It makes these giveaways so much easier, and therefore, a lot more fun for me.

FridayIt’s a mish-mash today, with the winner getting one of the shirts pictured, one of the ARCs, and one of the cover flats. I don’t know what’s in the package as they are already set to drop in the mail, but hey, it’s free, right? (laugh)

To have a chance to win this, (which is entirely random) all you need to do is post. All this week, I’ve been asking questions, but today, you just have to tell me something. Anything you want. If you need a writing prompt, can you guess where the title comes from? It’s still associated with the Clint Eastwood films, but it’s not a direct take from one. Please, just one post as your post is your entry into the contest.

I will close the comments tonight at 9:00 P.M. EST, then randomly choose and email the winners right then. They will have 24 hours to get back to me with a U.S. address to claim their prize pack. If a prize pack goes unclaimed, it will go into the second-chance pot, which will be awarded on the 28th, the 10th anniversary of Dead Witch Walking and the massive Manic Monday I’ve got planned along with the chapter releases.  (You can enter this second-chance giveaway any time this week, but only enter once though, please. Click here to go to entry post for second-chance giveaways.)

Good luck! I’ll email the winners tonight around 9:30, EST. And don’t forget, I’ll have not one, but two chapters on Monday! Spread the word! :-)

Fourth piece reveal of The Witch With No Name

Thank you everyone who entered today’s give away. I’ve closed the comments and am randomly choosing the five winners of the prize packs. They will get an email from me yet tonight, and they have 24 hours to get back to me with a U.S. address. If any prize packs go unclaimed, I will re-award them on Monday the 28th. Don’t worry if you didn’t win today. I’ll be doing this again tomorrow along with showing the 5th piece of the Witch With No Name cover.

OMGosh, it’s 7 in the morning, and all the winners of yesterday’s contest have already emailed me back! A big congratulations, (and thank you) to Amanda H. Veronica P. Katherine N. Jaydfyre, and Janet H. Your prize packs will be in the mail shortly.

Today we get hips! But more importantly, a sliver of that elusive background. As beautiful as the gold and black are, and Rachel’s confidence and strength visible through her magic, sometimes it’s the hidden things that tell the story. (I’m talking about that last piece, number six, on Monday. grin)

part 4

I’ve been over to Goodreads this morning, and the official word is we’ve passed the second goal of 5000 readers putting The Witch With No Name on their TBR shelf. Hurray! And thank you, Goodreaders! That means that on the 28th, we get two chapters, not one, and trust me, you’re going to thank all those Goodreads readers, too, when you get to the end of chapter one. Goodreads has the cover blurb on their site as well, so if you’ve not seen it yet, head on over. [ ] You can still add it to your TBR list, and they will send you an email reminder this September when it is published.

ThursdayUp today for grabs is a Black Magic Tour T shirt, the Alcatraz key freebie, and either a WWBC _or_ a FAFDM signed Advanced Reader Copy (Not both. Sorry) Guy is probably going to slip a bunny pin, and coat tag freebie in there too.

To have a chance to win this, (which is entirely random) just drop down to the comment box, and tell me in one post, if you’ve ever caught yourself taking the name of Tink in vain. Please, just one post as your post is your entry into the contest.

Good luck! I’ll email the winners tonight around 9:30, EST. If you don’t win, I’ll be doing this again tomorrow when I reveal a fifth piece of the cover.

RT2014

Oh! If you are going to RT this year, I’ll be there. I’ve got my schedule, and it looks like I’ve got a full plate, and lots of chances for fun. The two things I’m most excited for are the panel that Guy and I are going to be on (marketing panel on Wednesday) and I’m making hats or/or tats on Thursday. I can’t wait. [ Kim's RT schedule ]

Third piece reveal of The Witch With No Name

It’s the third piece of The Witch With No Name’s cover, (9/9/14) and we have our pop of color. If you study past covers, you’ll see they have different elements doing the same thing: a pop of color, something to indicate magic, a man to show threat or romance. Will there be a man in this one? (laughing manically) I’m not going to tell you! This is the first time I’ve EVER had a white background, which lends itself to the theme of this cover. Some of you might be starting to see the parallel that we’re going for here. If you want to guess, make it your entry today for the prize packs, but otherwise, I’m curious to know if you are an e reader, mass market, audio book, hardcover person, or if you are readerdexterous and it depends on the situation.

part 3

The pre-order pages have already started popping up on Amazon and B&N, if you can believe it!

And we have winners for Tuesday’s giveaway! Celeste, Brandy, Ruthie B. Heather J, and Jennifer H, check the email you entered with. There should be an email from me there. You have until 9:30 tonight to get back to me with an address, or your prize pack goes into the second-chance drawing that will be awarded on Monday the 28th.

Today we have an Outlaw Demon Tour t shirt, which I believe is the first tour T we did. It comes with a copy of Blood Crime and a cover flat, (either a WWBC or an Into The Woods, but not both.)  Guy is probably going to slip a bunny pin, coat tag freebie, and bus token in there too.

WednesdayTo have a chance to win this, (which is entirely random) just drop down to the comment box, and tell me in one post if you are an e reader, mass market, audio book, hardcover person, or if you are readerdexterous and it depends on the situation.

I’ll email the winners tonight around 9:30, EST.

If you don’t win, I’ll be doing this again tomorrow when I reveal a fourth piece of the cover.

Second piece reveal of The Witch With No Name

Wow! I can’t believe the response I got yesterday with the first piece of The Witch With No Name’s cover. (Out the week after Labor Day! Yes! September, which I think is fitting as the book carries the feeling of closing one part of life and opening another, which is what September has always been for me.) Today we see the second piece of the cover with that gorgeous hank of very red hair tamed by a braid and probably a charm. You can now start to see some of the thought behind the cover, and the comparison between this and the cover of Dead Witch Walking is obvious. This was my editor’s idea, and as more pieces come to light, I’ll explain in greater detail.

Part2

Also, I’ve been over to Goodreads this morning, and we have passed that first goal of 3000 readers putting The Witch With No Name on their TBR shelf. That means that on the 28th, we get chapter one released for your teasing/reading pleasure. However . . . if we can bump that up that up to 5000 readers, we’ll get two chapters. You don’t have to be on Goodreads to read them when they are released, but it’s up to the Goodreads readers to bump us over that 5000 mark. [ ]

We have the five winners of Monday’s prize packs. Doug C., Melissa B., Wanda E. Darleen F., and Wanda L., check the email you entered with. There should be an email from me there. You have until 9:30 tonight to get back to me with an address, or your prize pack goes into the second-chance drawing that will be awarded on Monday the 28th.

Today I’m doing it again, only this time, up for grabs is a Hollows coffee T shirt, an Undead Pool ARC, and one of the large cover flats shown. (Not all three, just one of them)  Guy is probably going to slip a bunny pin, coat tag freebie, and bus token in there too.

TuesdayTo have a chance to win this, (which is entirely random) just drop down to the comment box, and tell me in one post, what you would order at Juniors if you ever found yourself there. Me, I’d get a low-fat, no foam, chai tea–with maybe a half-pump of raspberry in it. Please, just one post here today as your post is your entry into the contest.

I will close the comments tonight at 9:00 P.M. EST, then randomly choose and email the winners right then. They will have 24 hours to get back to me with a U.S. address to claim their prize pack. So to recap, to enter for today’s give away, tell me here what your coffee order is, then jump over to the second-chance giveaway page to enter for the, ah, second-chance giveaway. :-) And good luck! I’ll email the winners tonight around 9:30, EST.

If you don’t win, I’ll be doing this again tomorrow when I reveal a third piece of the cover.

First piece reveal of The Witch With No Name

Phew! It’s Monday! And I’ve got the first piece of The Witch With no Name‘s cover! As you can see, we’re doing something very different, color-wise, with a mostly white background. I’ll tell you why when we have a few more pieces.

part1

I’m thinking this is going to be one of my favorite covers. It’s all silver and goldish!

As if the cover wasn’t fun enough, I’m also giving away five prize packs today, each with an Ever After tour shirt (I don’t know the size. It’s free!) a cover flat of Ever After’s mass market, and a signed ARC (advanced reader copy) of Holidays are Hell. Guy is probably going to slip a bunny pin, coat tag freebie, and bus token in there too.

MondayTo have a chance to win this, (which is entirely random) just drop down to the comment box, and tell me in one post, what book you started reading the Hollows with. Was it Dead Witch Walking, or did you get started in the middle and have to go back and begin from the beginning? Or you can just tell me what you think of the new cover piece. Please, just one post here today as your post is your entry into the contest.

Happy Friday!

I’m working today trying to figure out how to run back-to-back giveaways next week without making it too confusing. Fortunately a lot of you are familiar with the flash give aways and that you have to get back to me right away to claim them. (Right away, as in 24 hours after I send you the “you won!” email.) I think I’ll stick with that this time, and just try to be really organized so I don’t send the wrong pack out to the wrong winner. The contests are going to run 12 hours, and I will notify the winners before I go to bed. Don’t freak out if you’ve never entered one of my flash-giveaways. It’s just a simple post here at the blog on the day of the giveaway. I’ll let you know. :-) Unfortunately the giveaways are limited to the U.S. due to postal issues.  I’ll be opening the huge blowout of a Manic Monday on the 28th to International, though.

Monday

Monday’s prize pack: Ever After tour T, Ever After mm cover flat, and Holidays are Hell ARC.

It’s fun, though, giving away all this stuff. Having ARCs to give away is a special treat.

So, I went to take a peek at the Goodreads site this morning, and I’m so pleased to announce that we have passed the first magical 3000 mark, and we will be releasing chapter one of The Witch With no Name right along with the final cover reveal on the 28th! This is fantastic, but if we get 5000 people to put The Witch With no Name on their TBR shelf, we’ll get two chapters, not just one. Everyone will be able to read them, but it’s up to the Goodread readers to make that push. (And just as a little forewarning, you’re not going to want to wait a month for that chapter two.)

Pictures, pictures, prize-packs!

I’m kind of jumping the gun here, but here are the prize packs I’ll be giving away next week, five packs a day. :-) Some are pretty straight forward, but Friday’s give-away is going to be a grab bag with one of the books pictured, one of the cover flats, and one of the shirts. I don’t have a clue which. (laugh) But what it boils down to is every day I’m giving five people a shirt, signed ARC or graphic novel, and most times, a cover flat.

Oh, and I’ll be piecing out the cover for THE WITCH WITH NO NAME, as well.  I LOVE this cover. It’s got a good feel, and I can’t wait to share it. Next week. Not now. :-)

Friday

Friday the 25th is my mixed bag. Each pack will have one of the shirts, one of the ARCs, and one fo the cover flats.

Monday

Monday the 21st

Thursday

Thursday the 24th: but you get only 1 arc pictured, not both

Tuesday

Tuesday the 22. There will be a big cover flat in there, but I’m not sure which, so I showed them all.

Wednesday

Wednesday, the 23rd. This has the graphic novel, not an ARC.

Taking a break from all that excitement

I’m gearing up for next week’s give aways, (I’ll have pictures for you tomorrow. Promise!) and starting to prep the freebie for the Witch With No Name tour. Tour T’s are being designed, and I’ve got my puppy sitter lined up. (Thanks, Mom!)

IMG_1109So amid all the madness, or maybe because of it, I have been working on that dragon pattern I promised you last month. I was going to make a gold because, well, that’s a queen firelizard, right? But someone suggested I make a white one, and, uh, yeah. I liked that. Again the front legs gave me the most trouble, and I tweaked the pattern twice, meaning I had to make double the legs. But on the plus side, I found a new outlet for extraordinarily thin, strong pipe cleaners that worked better than the wire I’d been using for the fingers. I adjusted them, too, making the front hands smaller than the back this time.

IMG_1110I’m double checking the wings now. It won’t be long until the pattern is ready. I’m seriously thinking about looking into getting it protected under some kind of copyright, but I’ve got zero smarts there. Just enough to know I don’t have a clue. You’d think that I would, but books are not patterns, and I don’t know where to start. (Hey, I’m a newbie!)

If you want to see a finished dragon, I’ve got a previous post: here Oh, and if you’re curious, Pern is the inspiration. I wanted a fire lizard so bad, I could have cried.

The Witch With No Name

.

Yesterday was the official release of the title and publication date of the last Hollows book, The Witch With No Name, due out September 9th.  Some of you have been asking about the Clint Eastwood reference. The Good, Bad, and Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars, and For a Few Dollars More were collectively called The Man with No Name, and that’s where the title comes from.

As you can see, we’ve got a flat blue cover right now, but that’s going to change next week as I reveal it one piece at a time starting the 21st. And because I like giving things away, there will be five prize packs given away daily that week in a flash-give aways. We’ve done these before, but I’m going to need you to check your email within 24 hours to claim it instead of the usual four days. Entry will be simple: post at the blog to enter. I’m working up my questions for you as I write this. I’m also still putting the prize packs together, and so far they each include a Hollows T-shirt, a signed ARC, a promotional pin, cover flats, and probably some swag. :-) I’ll have pictures later this week, but bookmark the blog because if you are relying on FB to remind you, it’s chancy.

There are a couple of cool things going on right now, though. There is a challenge at Goodreads, that if 3000 people put The Witch With No Name on their TBR shelf before the 28th, Harper will release chapter one with the final cover reveal. If we can get 5000 shelvings, there will be two chapters released. You won’t have to be a member of Goodreads to see the chapters, but it’s up to them to get the push on. :-)

Here’s the link that explains it all, but remember, you have to put it on your TBR shelf to make it count. Goodreads chapter release event

Oh! And though the pre-order button hasn’t shown up on Amazon yet for the hardcover, you can pre-order at B&N. Amazon is sure to follow.

Anyway, I missed the red moon last night because of, ah, snow. There’s like an inch out there in little puffs in the yard, determined to slow spring down. I knew better than to plant anything that couldn’t take the snow, and at this point, it’s like, “Oh, hey. Snow. Don’t see, don’t care.” I’m ignoring it. Maybe it will go away.

And the title of the last Hollows book is . . .

The title of the last Hollows book is THE WITCH WITH NO NAME, which is cool enough on its own, but the best part is the release date. With much begging and pleading, followed by a careful schedule of editing, copy editing, and finally page proofs, I am tickled three shades of gold to tell you that the ending has been pushed up. I simply can not wait to get to the glorious ending of this, and so you can expect the U.S. release for THE WITCH WITH NO NAME right after Labor Day.

Yep, you saw that right. THE WITCH WITH NO NAME will be hitting the shelves on September 9, of this year!  Like in five months. Yay!

September 9, 2014. Yes! Five months!

September 9, 2014. Yes! Five months!

My PR machine is already starting to shift gears, and though it will become pretty peaceful on the surface after the give-aways next week to celebrate Dead Witch Walking’s 10 year anniversary, I’ve got T-shirts and freebies to get together, and doggie sitters to find, and maybe a new wardrobe because I’ve never toured in warm weather. I won’t know what to do with myself.

So plan your Labor Day celebration, and then take a vacation from your vacation with THE WITCH WITH NO NAME.

And for all the moaning and groaning, I believe if you end it right, closing off a series can be a very uplifting experience. But of course, your mileage may vary, and I’m seeing around corners to the next series. I think you’ll like Peri. She makes good decisions, but her past is her worst enemy.

P.S. If you are a member of Goodreads, I’ve got an event going that if we can get 3000 people to put THE WITCH WITH NO NAME  on their To Read shelf before we release the full cover on the 28th, that I will release chapter one right along with it. If we get 5000 people to put it on their To Read shelf, I’ll release two chapters. You don’t have to be on Goodreads to read the chapters when/if they are released. That wouldn’t be fair. But it’s up to the Goodreads readers to put the push on!
