Thanks, guys. ;-)

Thank you, everyone who posted yesterday.  ;-)  You guys are too cool.  Unfortunately I can't get everywhere, and much of where I go is determined by the stores in your areas.  (As in if they are known for hosting events in the past and have employees who know how to run them seamlessly)  I'm sorry if your city isn't on the list.  I'm excited to be going to so many new places, and I can't wait to get out.

Someone mentioned the tour ts.  Now that we have most of the cities, Guy is moving forward on them again, and we should have something for you by mid November.  For those of you who don't know, these are the shirts that you might see at a signing, much like a band T.  If the store is set up for a Q&A, we always have a "family portrait" of my roadies that goes up onto the website.  Sometimes I have as few as four roadies, but sometimes I have a good two dozen.  Pictured here is Powells from last year's tour.

Mud made me aware of a very cool website at good reads where you can post your favorite Hollows quotes and vote on the rest.  I lost a good twenty minutes there this morning.  (Did I really write that?  Damn, that's pretty good!  -laugh-)

I've got some great news for you who are looking for tour cities!  I've got about 90 percent of not only the cities, but the stores as well!  Down below is the short list.  All I ask is that you don't email me with suggestions for that TBD date.  I have a pretty good idea of where I'm going, but don't want to say until I know for sure.  ;-)   And take note of the event in Houston!!!  I'll be signing with Patricia Briggs!  I've always admired her work, and I can't wait!

Monday, Monday . . .

Monday, monday, and my pond isn't holding water.  Blah.  I'm sure it's running under the lip of the first pan again, and I'm about ready to chuck it. (Which I won't do, of course.  I enjoy watching the birds far too much, and they will be using it today.  It's cold and dry.)

This weekend, I bought a quick-release gadget to put on the end of my hose and faucet bib so I don't risk blowing out the bib by leaving the hose hooked up all the time in freezing weather.  This quick-release is a thing of beauty.  I've used and enjoyed the plastic ones for years, but I went out and got the very pretty brass one this time, and it's a real pleasure to use.  –  But I'd much rather my pond hold water.

Good News!

I'm doing the happy dance in my chair this morning.  ;-)  I found out yesterday that Black Magic Sanction is #8 on the Customer Top 10 SF/F books of 2010, which I believe is a compilation of sale figures: Amazon's top ten

I'm also up for a career achievement award at RT in the urban fantasy genre.  I don't have a link for you for this one.  Sorry.  But I'm up against Rachel Caine, P.N. Elrod, Simon R. Green, and Laurel K. Hamilton.  I believe the winner is chosen by the RT reviewers, but someone correct me if I'm wrong here.  Double whooo-hoo!

Halloween Pictures

I'm still taking Halloween pictures for about another week, so if you've got them in your camera, send 'em in!  If you've submitted yours and still haven't seen it, please be patient.  I can't put them all up at once, and we were flooded the day after.  Also, if you failed to give me the three things I asked for, your picture will likely slide to the back of the pile until Guy has a chance to email you.  I have to really commend you guys, though.  Most of you are fantastic at the resizing.  Thank you!

Today's offerings . . .

mishmash

So I'm planning out my month, and I think I'll be working on PR mostly again today, but then I'm going to do my final brush through of the next Hollows before I plot out and write the one following that.  Which means I won't be NaNoing with you guys since I can't get to rough draft until mid month, but you know I'll be there with you in spirit.

Today's picture is of a bench I bought at a flea market this summer, now residing in my black-and-white bathroom. (Apparently black-and-white is Victorian.  Go figure.)  It is now sporting the colors that I am using throughout the house, so when I get tired of it there, I can easily move it somewhere else.  It originally had a very ugly fabric of blue and gold, but I liked the cast iron legs and figured "How hard could it be to recover it?"

As it turned out, not hard at all, but the prep work was murder, and not just stripping the thing.  I had to find a source for tools, fabric, and whatnot.  I liked the process and result so well that I did a second bench on Sunday that now sits at the end of my bed in soothing paisley of  brown, gold. (Sans the ugly purple fabric.) I have a piano stool waiting to be stripped possibly this weekend, but the prize my eyes are on is actually a chair and sofa, both of which have ugly covers but beautiful wood.  Just working my way up . . .
