Six on Saturday – Native Nuances

It is still in the middle of summer here in my Australian garden. It looks a little dull in my garden until you look a little closer. Not to be outdone by their showy garden mates, Australian Native flowers have smaller and more subtle flowers in pleasing tones. They are not at all bothered by the summer heat, in fact summer is their specialty! Small delicate and nuanced flowers offer unusual delights in the summer gardenscape. Often with unusual shaped and grey coloured leaves (to deflect some of the summer sun from their leaves). I am quite partial to the pink, mauve and blue flowering natives which I grow in quantity in my garden! If I forget to water them they will still survive, in the dry edges in the backs of my garden beds.

Eucalyptus platypus, surely wins the award for best Eucalyptus botanical name! Now is the time this round shaped tree holds the secret surprise of these sunny blooms held tight within its rounded canopy. I grow this little beauty for windbreaks around the house gardens. This is a lovely grey leafed emu bush called Eremophila Pink Panther. The silvery grey leaves give a clue how tough this little customer is in my summer garden. The attractive pink flowers provide a nice contrast with the foliage.Speaking of natives, this little frill necked lizard tried to remain still and camouflaged as he sunned himself on the fence post.Sun shining through a favourite small pink flowered eucalyptus just outside my window. Eucalyptus leaucoxylon maculata, South Australian blue gum. It has attractive leaves and white smooth bark trunk that is good to hug!Tiger lilies in a pot flowering in quantity at this time of year. A welcome sight in the summer garden. Some pelargoniums still in flower and a pretty potted coleus, which I am taking cuttings of, to save for posterity. This little plant I bought on a plant discount trolley. It is not one I’d normally buy, I typically don’t go for the dwarf version of plants. But this Alyogyne Blue Heeler (named after an Australian variety of cattle dog) is such a surprise good performer and grows thick and lovely on a sometimes dry bank. I would definitely buy it again.

Thanks for visiting loves. See more beautiful Six on Saturday gardens from around the world, on the Six on the Saturday tag.

Happy Gardening! – Sarah 😘💞🌼🌸🧚‍♀️

Six on Saturday – Moody Blues

This week in the middle of summer there seems to be a lot of blue flowers in bloom around the garden. I don’t mind as blue is my favourite colour and cools down the colour scheme on warm summer days.

Petunias persist in an entrance pot. This lovely purple gladioli is growing in a pot.Alyigyne haekeafolia,  a native hibiscus in a scrumptious shade of purple blue. Looks like little tulips and is covered in these flowers in summer.Brachyscombe another Australian native looking very pretty in a pot. Another plant discount trolley find.Had some young nieces and nephews stay for the holidays and we repainted some daggy planter pots. This one received a batman makeover! Some cornflowers still persisting in the heat.

That’s all from me. Look around for more Sixers from around the world with their gardening exploits this week.

Happy Gardening 💞🦋

Blue Flowers Help You Be Cool Under Pressure

Floral Friday has my garden go all blue and white for the hot weather and I love it!. 曆
✿ •.*•-:¦~ღஐƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒஐ

I asked the alyogne Fairy about the energy of blue flowers and it said “Blue flowers attract insects the best and are the embodiment of being cool under pressure. Blue flowers teach us the value of being calm under all circumstances, because the calm mind readily finds the soul answers to any issue at hand.”

Six on Saturday – The Party’s Over

My garden this week looks a little like the day after the night before. It’s finery is a little faded and make-up smudged. Summer has hit and the dry and the spring flower-fest is well and truly over.

We are currently in the middle of a four day heatwave. While I have flowers 365 days of the year in my garden, the number of flowers goes down in the heat of summer and the quality. Some get scorched and faded by the heat. So it’s a little like the Northern hemisphere paucity of flowers but in reverse.

Some flowers have faded, some need a dead head and others are still persisting. An oriental trumpet lily in a pot, sheltered by the house. With its head in the sun and feet in the shade, the way lilies like it.The loquuat tree is laden. The children like them.Koala planter with staff pelargonium. At this time of year feverfew proved some welcome flowers New rose Ebtide has flowered that are easily sun scorched so a morning rose is all I will get.Blue convolvulus provides a pretty Fairy lawn under a Manchurian pear tree. The Golden Delicious apple tree is laden. Blue scabiosa is a favourite of the butterflies. We have e hundreds of butterflies in the garden at the moment creating movement and joy in their wake.Pretty flower from the grey Cineraria plant.Fire and Ice rose while it is not my favourite as far as colour but is a real trooper in the heat! I bought it as it was a multiple award winner in the Australian rose trial gardens in Adelaide.

Thanks for visiting loves and Happy Gardening! 😘💞🦋🌸

New Review of my book “Conversations with my Vegetable Garden”

New Review of my book “Conversations with my Vegetable Garden” by #paulinereidbookreviewer For#indiefeaturefriday #bookreview #bookrecommendation
.
What would you do if you could talk to the plants? Psychic author from Australia, @sarahrajkotwala_writer , can do just that and in this, her third spiritual book, she decided to explore the internal spiritual world of her vege garden.

While reading this book, my enthusiasm really got a hold, and what better time to read a book like this, than during the Christmas/New Year break.

Although this book is set to an Australian climate, this didn’t deter me in the slightest, in fact it was very interesting reading about Australians weather patterns in certain areas.

I do believe that plants are living creatures and at least for me they do give off a certain vibe. In this book we learn the spiritual qualities of veges, there is even a few natural herbal recipes, Camomile Tea Rinse for hair sounded intriguing.
.
Many quotes were underlined, but this one I reckon sums up this book.

Quote
“By growing your own veggies you are saving the planet in so many ways, you wouldn’t be able to count. You are taking charge of your own life and health and that of your family’s. But at the same time you are contributing to a growing movement that is turning away from mass consumption and mass polluting of the planet and all of its sacred habitats and their communities.”

This is a nonfiction book that delves into the mind of veges via the author.

Six on Saturday – Canberra Gardens and Riverland Flooding

We holidayed in our nation’s capital this week, Canberra ACT. We drove across three states to get there. Gardening wise this city was very hilly and covered in trees with a high rainfall and cold winters. This gives Canberra a climate where lots of cold climate plants can thrive. The tree choices really reminded me of a European capital city, in the old parts of the city, where all the embassies are. I was surprised not to see so many native trees there.

I particularly liked the use of these grey leafed conifers/ cedar trees that dominated the inner Canberra treescape.

But most of my photos this week were taken at the charming Cockington Green Gardens in Canberra. With its miniature village and gardens that are exact replicas of real buildings from around the world. Here we have some exquisite miniature snapdragons.

The energy of snapdragons is happiness, friendliness and reaching for your highest potential so the snapdragons fairies tell me. They do make me feel happy when I see them.

A Kiev palace replica.

Lots of trees were clipped like bonsai to keep them small scale like this grey eucalyptus and lomandra combo.A resident magpie eating lawn insects on the immaculate maze lawn. We wondered how they kept the miniature lawns mowed between the models. Pretty hydrangeas Petunia loveliness Petunias and Iceland poppiesThey also used miniature water feature’s to great effect. It would have been fun to create miniature gardens around the miniature landscape.

Small cute thatched cottages

On the way home we followed the great Murray River that is flooding due to recent torrential rains further upstream. It can take months for the water to wend its way down to South Australia’s Riverland. The Murray stretches across 3 states, It is controversially used for irrigation for highly water dependent crops such as rice and cotton. Plus edible things like citrus, grapes and stone fruit, that feed Australia. The Murray also supplies some drinking water to Adelaide.
Extra levies have been built and a lot of extra land is covered in River water. This River red gum near Mildura is well adapted to cope with a little extra inundation. Some holiday homes, were covered up to their rooves in Blanchetown.  I sent Angel blessings to the people who lived in these areas. The Riverland people said they still wanted to visit these areas to keep the tourist economy afloat (so to speak!)

Lots of places around the world will quietly be blessed with quiet inundations of water that energetically cleanse the land of centuries of human activity. Leading the way for a great new world-wide Love Age to Blossom.

Much love and Happy Gardening- Sarah 😘🌸🦋

Every Flower or Plant Emits a Different Energy

In my talks with plants, they say each plant emits a different energy signature that we can benefit from when we spend time with them. A petunia fir instance is for happiness and friendship.
My book ‘The Year of Talking to Plants ’ is full of channelled conversations between me and the plant fairies. A fascinating journey into the consciousness of nature.
