Rhiannon D'Averc - Why the Best Time to Write Your Book is Always Now

I have another Medium post to share! This one was published in The Coffelicious, and is all about when to write your book. Spoiler alert: the answer is right now!

---

When should you write a book?

When you retire and finally have time to focus on the story?

When you’ve graduated from school and got a stable job, and you can work on it at the weekends?

When the market changes?

When you’ve completed every single writing course on the internet?

When you’ve finally read every classic from the '100 Books to Read Before You Die' list?

When you’re old enough to be taken seriously?

When a mysterious industry gatekeeper grants you permission?

All of these potential answers are, as you may have guessed from the title, completely wrong. The best time to write your book is now.

But why do I say that?

Well…

Rhiannon D'Averc - Reminder: Blood Pressure Live This Week!

I'm aiming to have the paperback available around the same time or perhaps even a little earlier - although it's always hard to tell with Amazon exactly when a listing will get approved, I'll do my best!

I hope you'll all enjoy this one a lot - it feels like it's been a long time coming because of the delay for the release of Mira's War, but it's finally almost here. And I couldn't be more excited!

Rhiannon D'Averc - Medium Post: Why Business Owners Should Learn

It's been a while since I shared my latest Medium posts, but I have been working away on them in the background!

Today's share is the following article, published in Data Driven Investor:

Here's an excerpt to whet your whistle!

"A lot of space on sites like Medium is dedicated to the art of running a business — either offering advice, or sharing personal experiences within this realm.

If you’re here already, that’s a good thing. It means that you are probably open to learning new things about business, and how to succeed.

What I offer here is a mixture of both things: advice twinned with personal experience. I will explain why my business should have failed by now, but hasn’t. It’s because I focus on learning above all things."

Rhiannon D'Averc - Blood Pressure: Serial Investigations 7 Pre-Order

It's been a bit of a wait for this one, hasn't it? It's been all the way since November that I last put out a Serial Investigations book (and that was the Christmas novella, Blood on Poinsettia). That's why I'm super happy to announce that Blood Pressure is now available for pre-order!

Head to this link to get your hands on your ebook copy. As always, the paperback will be launching on the 31st March alongside the ebook, and you'll be able to order it then.

That's not all I've got for you today - I'm also sharing the blurb so you can start trying to figure out what our boys are in for this time...

A victim locked in a closet.

A detective trying to get out.

Ram has spotted his dream locked room mystery case on the news – and he’ll stop at nothing to get himself involved with it. The problem is, newly-minted DCI Alex Heath isn’t too happy about it – and neither is his successor as DI…

An invitation to go home and visit family should be a happy occasion, but for Will, it’s quite the opposite. Spiralling into doubt and fear about Ram outing him to his parents, Will risks pushing him away entirely. And when he does go home, things aren’t going to be plain sailing. Will’s father is an ex-Ambassador, and he’s got many years of finding out secrets behind him.

As both are rocked by revelations about Will’s past and his present, Ram and Will have to contend with doubting policemen, ugly habits rearing their heads, and the struggle to trust one another. And there’s the question of how Harry got that black eye…

If you’re a fan of BBC’s Luther, Jo Nesbo’s Harry Hole, or sharply witty gay men, you’ll love Serial Investigations. Try to keep your cool in Blood Pressure, a mystery with lashings of anxiety and an ending that might just blow a family apart.

Rhiannon D'Averc - Upcoming Book Release Schedule

Last week I shared with you the details of the new upcoming Serial Investigations book - Blood Pressure - and unveiled the cover. There's quite a lot about to happen in the next month or so, and it's going to get a little hectic in here! So, here's the upcoming schedule and what you can expect coming soon from me:

Now - Mira's War pre-order

Mira's War is already in the pre-order phase with City Limits Publishing. That means you can guarantee your paperback, hardback, or ebook right here! They have a great roster of books coming out at the moment, too (check out the image below with my book in the line-up!)

2nd March - Mira's War release

This is the date when you'll be able to purchase Mira's War directly for instant ebook purchases and to grab your paperback or hardback on other retailers. I'll be sharing plenty of links then, too!

7th March - Blood Pressure pre-order

I'll be putting Blood Pressure on pre-order on Amazon as an ebook on this date. Unfortunately, paperback pre-order isn't possible for indie authors on Amazon, but you'll be able to bookmark the page for later if you prefer paperback!

31st March - Blood Pressure release

Finally, Blood Pressure will be available to buy in paperback and ebook formats at the end of the month.

It's going to be a rollercoaster ride, and I can't wait to share every step with you guys. Buckle up and strap in - let's do this!

Rhiannon D'Averc - Blood Pressure Cover Reveal!

Last week I revealed that the seventh book in the Serial Investigations series is to be called Blood Pressure.

This week, I'm happy to unveil the cover!

It took a lot of going back and forth to decide on this one, but I'm pleased with the end result. As always, the cover elements centre around a key element (or two) of the plot. See if you can make any guesses about what might be happening in this one...

And stick around next week for an announcement of when the pre-order is going live, so you can get your hands on it!

Rhiannon D'Averc - Serial Investigations 7 Title Reveal!

I can't believe it's already come around again, but here we are - I'm in the final stages of writing the seventh book of the Serial Investigations series, and it's time to let you know a few things about it. Are you ready? The title of the next book is...

Blood Pressure

I'm excited for you guys to learn what that means - of course, each title ties into something that happens in the book. Either it relates to the crime, or to something happening in the boys' lives... I'll leave you to speculate which one it could be this time!

As for the release schedule, normally I would be releasing it in the first week of March - that's how it was on my calendar according to the regular timeline I keep up for Serial Investigations. However, there is one big thing standing in the way...

The release of Mira's War! It comes out on March 2nd, and so I'd like to try to focus on one book launch at a time. To keep it from getting too crowded here on the blog, in your inboxes, and even in your Amazon checkout basket, I'm delaying the release of Blood Pressure until March 31st.

Never fear, however - this doesn't mean you'll be getting less of Serial Investigations this year! I'll be keeping Serial Investigations 8 to its already established release slot, so there will be a shorter gap between 7 & 8 than usual.

Next time I check in, I'll reveal the cover. See you then!

Rhiannon D'Averc - 2021 Book Plans

What better way to kick of 2021 than to let you all know of my plans for the year ahead? I've got a pretty robust schedule of books coming out, so here's all the information you need...

The first big thing is that Mira's War will be coming out on March 2nd! City Limits Publishing will be releasing it to buy at that time and I'll be able to give you more information, such as the cover, as we get closer to the date. This is my first Young Adult title published under my own name, and with a traditional publisher to boot, so I cannot wait to share it with you!

There are also going to be some Serial Investigations books this year, as you might have guessed. Pending fire, flood, or other natural disaster, I should be putting out books 7, 8, and 9 this year. That's the plan, at least! Maybe I'll have time to squeeze in something extra before the end of the year. I guess you'll have to wait and see!

It's sure to be another packed year of writing for me, as I already have a total of 15 novels slated for 2021. This includes, of course, a large number of ghostwritten titles which I'm not at liberty to tell you more about. I may also be taking on extra books through the year as I often do! I'm trying to be sensible this year and only take on new clients towards the last quarter, when I will have hopefully got ahead of myself and finished off all 15 of my other commitments. We'll see how that goes...

I'm looking forward to bringing you lots of new work in the year ahead. Thanks for joining me - let's make it one to remember for good reasons this time!
