Rhiannon D'Averc - Case Files - Join Now For Extra Content!

A reminder! I'm starting up a brand new newsletter all about true crime. It's a longer take on the case file notes which I currently include at the bottom of each of my newsletters, and which many of you guys have mentioned you really enjoy reading. I've been talking about this for a little bit, and last week I let you know that I'm planning to get it up and running before the end of the year.

If you want to be on board from the very first Case File, you can sign up ahead of the first issue's release. You can do that here - it's totally free and you just have to pop your email address in to hear about it when we launch. You can unsubscribe at any time, so there's no risk! If you don't like what I produce, you can let me know or just quietly exit the list.I've previously made a post about what to expect from the newsletter in general, as well as a bit of an FAQ. You can read that here. Let me know via social or by commenting on the post if you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to share that you're excited. Please do get your friends involved if you think they'd enjoy it, too!

I can't wait to launch this - it's going to be so much fun and definitely something to focus on during those winter nights when I'm wondering what to do with all that awake time while waiting for my baby to sleep...

Rhiannon D'Averc - Future Plans for Serial Investigations

It's been a little while since I caught you guys up with my plans, so here we are! If you've been following my newsletter or any of my social media accounts, you probably already know that I'm currently expecting my first baby. And this means, well, a little disruption is probably ahead!

Not to worry, though, because I have plans in place for Serial Investigations as well as all the other projects you're here for. Here's the lowdown...

General work:

I'm going on maternity leave in October, and won't be back to my normal work schedule until April. As a freelancer, I've worked pretty much nonstop (often without taking weekends, holidays, birthdays, or any other day off) for a long time. It's been over ten years since I took my first freelance job, and I've never had a break for longer than a week, so I think it's high time I did. I love the fact that the freedom of my job means I can take this time to really enjoy bonding with my first baby and being there for all his first milestones! I'm super excited (and more than a little nervous that the urge to work will be strong, after so long in the habit, haha!).

Serial Investigations:

My plan is to have one last book ready by the end of the year before I go on maternity leave. I'll then casually work on SI as and when I feel the urge to during maternity leave, since SI never really feels like work to me. It's something that makes me feel excited to get up and get in front of my laptop when I know it's on the day's schedule. I hope that even with taking it easy, I'll be on track for the usual release schedule, since I'll have two or three times as long to make each book without other work getting in the way. If it doesn't work out quite like that, there may be one fewer SI book next year, but there will definitely be some.

Case Files:

I mentioned already that I'm planning on setting up a newsletter based around true crime case files. You can sign up for that when it launches here. This might again be one of the projects I tinker around with during maternity leave. Actually, if I get myself organised enough, I may well have time to write the full six months of newsletters before I go on leave and then just queue them all up, so I'm still hoping to get this project underway before the end of the year.

Mira's War:

I haven't yet set a definitive date for when I'll put out the new edition of Mira's War. (Read this post for info on why I need to). I already have enough on the schedule above that I don't want to stress out thinking about another set of deadlines, so we'll play this one casual for now! I will of course give you a heads up when it's ready to get out there. I'm not sure when it will be, exactly, but it will happen eventually!

Rhiannon D'Averc - Latest Articles Round-Up

Every now and then I remember to share with you guys all the things I do outside of Serial Investigations! Here's a round-up of my most recent published articles and guides.

Rhiannon D’Averc introduces the finalists for the Face of London Runway 2021 – and how we reached this point.

Rhiannon D’Averc brings you all the details on another lockdown LFW – with a brief review of every on-schedule show!

A great portfolio can be the difference between getting noticed or not.

Digital photography has made it possible to shoot hundreds if not thousands of pictures in a single day.

Culling those photos down to the very best couple of images is a skill that’s difficult to master.

Rhiannon D'Averc - A Week of Lives!

Just a quick one this week, because, as you're about to see, I'm going to be extremely busy...

This upcoming week (9th to 15th August 2021) I'll be hosting the London Runway Virtual Festival 2021. We did this last year as well, but now it's bigger and better with even more events included. I've attached some graphics of the days on which I'm hosting below - spoiler alert, it's all of them hahaha!

Do check it out at @londonrunwaymag on Instagram - the events cater to a wide range of interests, from fashion and modeling to photography, culture, music, and more. There's also going to be a Meet the Team segment on the Saturday in which you'll hear from our writers, as well as learning about the other team members who put work into the magazine every single month. Finally, on the Sunday, I'm doing an AMA, so you can feel free to ask me some questions about writing which are related to the non-fiction side instead of fiction!

You can find me at the following events:

Opening ceremony; live photoshoot; live talk on model fails; editing live shoot; live chat with Bate Nate H; fashion startups in 2021; meet the team; magazine Q&A; ask an editor; and closing ceremony.

Rhiannon D'Averc - Blood Magic Launch!

The time to get your hands on Blood Magic is now!

The paperback is now live to order from Amazon, and you can also preorder the ebook version to get it delivered to your ereader at midnight! Kindle Unlimited should be live tonight as well.

Make sure you grab your copy - so you can follow along with our traditional book launch livestream! I'm not 100% sure when it's going to be, because I'm waiting for my own paperback copy to arrive so I can read from it to you all. It's not as exciting when I'm just reading from a screen!

At any rate, the details will be as follows: I will be reading on my Instagram page, so you can turn on notifications by following me there to know exactly when I do go live. It will either be:

Sunday 1st August - 3pm

OR

Monday 2nd August - 6pm

Sorry for the confusion, but in this case I'm blaming the delivery schedule haha. You can send me questions on Instagram before the time - I've put up a story you can respond to there. You can send them at any time, and I'll be saving the video to share later just in case you can't watch live, so I'll still be able to answer your questions on the stream.

See you then!

Rhiannon D'Averc - Blood Magic Preorder!

Blood Magic is now available for preorder!

You can grab it on Amazon now in ebook form. As always, I'll be trying to get the paperback up as close as possible to the release date - which is the 1st August 2021!

Allow me to whet your appetite with a share of the blurb:

A psychic prediction of death…

… That ends up coming true.

Ram and Will aren’t exactly believers in the occult. When a medium comes to them and claims to have heard rumours of death from the other side, they laugh her out of the door. But when her prediction comes true, they have to consider that something more serious might be going on here.

A missing person case turns out to be more complex than they could have imagined, and with the lines between life and death becoming blurred, they both have to confront their own feelings about what happened to them in Paris. The fears, the doubts, and the worry for Capitaine Varon haven’t gone away – and every hint of danger is enough to make Ram want to wrap Will in unwanted cotton wool. That doesn’t help when they’re sucked deep into the turmoil of national politics, and the seedy underbelly of big business.

With a trip home for Christmas impending, and the invitation to the mysterious Black Dragon still looming, Ram has a lot on his mind. But with Harry and Alex both having their own reasons for staying quiet, Will has to find a way to keep him steady on his own. What’s awaiting them will make them wonder – and rattle some of their core beliefs to their foundation.

If you’re a fan of BBC’s Luther, Jo Nesbo’s Harry Hole, or sharply witty gay men, you’ll love Serial Investigations. Search for the truth in Blood Magic, a tale of death and corruption that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

Rhiannon D'Averc - Serial Investigations 9 Cover REVEAL

If you haven't seen last week's update yet, I've just revealed the title of the ninth book in the Serial Investigations series! Now we're one week closer to the release date, and I can't wait to share with you another little teaser of the upcoming book.

This time, I'm sharing the cover. It's always a hint into both the setting and one of the big events of the book, so I hope you have some fun trying to guess what could be going on with this one... because if anything, I'm doubling down on what I shared last week. Here we go...

Rhiannon D'Averc - Serial Investigations 9 Title Reveal

It feels like time is moving so fast that I genuinely don't understand how we can be here already - but we are! It's time to reveal the title of the ninth book in the Serial Investigations series.

It's hardly been any time at all since Blood Sacrifice, Book 8, hit the shelves, so if you haven't caught up yet be sure to check out all the links to the books you may have missed! There's a little way to go yet before book 9 will be out, so you'll have time to catch up.

But, for now: I can tell you with great excitement that the title of the ninth book in the Serial Investigations series will be...

Blood Magic

Yep! That's right. Let the speculation on what the title refers to begin...

A quick update as well for those who might not yet have read Mira's War or were waiting to purchase it: there is a slight fly in the ointment... in the form of my publisher having gone bust. As far as I'm aware the book should now have been removed from all retailers, but this is only a temporary state of affairs as I have been given the rights back fully. I'll be rereleasing it as soon as I am able to, so you can still get your hands on it. Until then, you might have to content yourself with just reading Serial Investigations or Boy Under Water - or some of my free short stories!

Rhiannon D'Averc - New Case Files newsletter for true crime fans

I'm starting up a brand new newsletter all about true crime. It's kind of a spin-off of the case file notes which I currently include at the bottom of each of my newsletters, and which many of you guys have mentioned you really enjoy reading. So, I thought, why not make a home for this kind of content where you can read more of it, in more depth?

The newsletter is not starting up just yet, but I wanted to let you know in order to sign up ahead of the first issue's release. You can do that here - it's totally free and you just have to pop your email address in to hear about it when we launch. You can unsubscribe at any time, and I'll be steering clear of anything remotely spammy!I've also made a post about what to expect from the newsletter in generally, as well as a bit of an FAQ. You can read that here.
