This week, I'm happy to announce the title of the upcoming tenth book in the Serial Investigations series! It's been a long journey to get here, and ten feels like a big number, so I'm trying hard to get this one right. With that in mind, I don't have a precise launch date yet as I keep everything a little flexible. If you're wondering why, check out my recent posts! 

Anyway, I'll be sharing some more updates over the coming weeks, such as revealing the cover and the blurb and also finally letting you know what the launch date will be - along with a preorder link as soon as it's ready.

Rhiannon D'Averc - 2022 Plans & Announcement

A little word about the year ahead - and the month just gone!

I'm so, so happy to announce that I am now a new mother to a healthy baby boy who has me very much run off my feet trying to keep up with him already. I've already been on maternity leave from writing from a short time, but as discussed in previous posts and newsletters, I have done some planning ahead of time to make sure that Serial Investigations can continue to roll out on schedule.

There may be a small delay in the release of the next book - Serial Investigations 10 - but as I hadn't yet announced the release date, you guys will effectively be none the wiser! Not long after that, I will be back to work and thus there will be three or four books released in 2022 as usual.

I also have the relaunch of Mira's War coming up next year, and I'm hoping to have another book series getting started in 2022 which will be released under a pseudonym. You won't hear much about this series except in my newsletter, but it will be one of the things taking up my time - along with my usual ghostwriting work. I'll be discussing ghostwriting projects again from April 2022, so if you're interested in setting something up, do feel free to contact me whenever you like - though I won't be too quick with responses until we get closer to the time!

That's all the news for now, but stay tuned for more developments as the year goes on - you know me, I'm always dreaming up new plans and thinking up new plots, so anything could happen!

As promised last week, it's here! Bloodless, the first book in the Serial Investigations series, is now available in hardback.I don't know what the demand will be like for the whole series in hardback, so I'm going to wait and see a little bit before setting up the others - Amazon's hardback system is still in its infancy and is definitely a bit of a pain! A huge announcement today - thanks to Amazon's latest behind the scenes update, I'm able to offer hardback copies of my self-published books for the first time!

We're starting off with Boy Under Water, which you can pick up here! If you don't have a copy yet, or you're thinking of getting it for someone's Christmas present, now is a great time to grab it. I updated you last week with the preorder link for Blood on Holly, and I'm pleased to let you know today that the paperback is also now available to purchase! If you grab it now, you should be able to get it around the same time or perhaps only a day later than those who have preordered the ebook.

I'm not doing a livestream this time around - both because it's a novella rather than a full entry in the series and because, as you may know, I'm currently nine months pregnant! I'm expecting to pop at any moment, so scheduling any kind of live event right now would be a mistake waiting to happen. Rhiannon D'Averc - Going Quiet?

As many of you know, I'm just about to go on maternity leave - which means it's time for things to get a little quieter around here!

*... Maybe!

Well, alright, this is the deal. I'm only going to be posting when I have real updates to share. Which means all of the usual book launch stuff like cover reveals and preorder links, as well as possibly a few promotional posts for Case Files as I get it more properly up and running. All this to say, it might even end up getting a bit busier for a short while, especially as we're coming up to a big announcement...

Okay, I'll just come out and say it: there's a new Serial Investigations book coming out really soon! I haven't mentioned anything about it yet as it's the second year in a row I've decided to launch a surprise Christmas novella. You guys enjoyed the last one a lot, so this year I decided to go ahead and do the same thing again. More details on that from next week!

After that, though, and possibly right in the middle of that if things don't go according to the doctors' timeframe, I'll probably vanish off the face of the earth for a while. I can't predict when since I'll, you know, be giving birth. Which means if you do notice a sudden absence of updates, it's nothing to panic about - I've just got a few other, more pressing things to deal with!

I'll be back, obviously - and next year I'll come off maternity leave and back to posting weekly blog updates, which means you can look forward to more of my between-launch waffle soon enough. If 'look forward to' is the appropriate term.

Anyway, if you're sitting here from the future thinking this blog is dead - it's not, and now you know why! See you soon!

I thought I'd let you know about a huge bargain of a deal I've set up on Amazon for you guys - a boxset of the first five books in ebook form!

This means you can now purchase the whole first arc of the Serial Investigations story for a much lower price.

Happy weekend! I just wanted to pop by and share with you this post which I've added to my Substack this week. I'm getting into the habit of thinking about real-life serial killers a bit more now that the newsletter launch proper is coming up. So, to kick us off a bit, I wanted to think about why this topic is so interesting in the first place, and why we can't get enough of it!

As we warm up for the proper launch of the Case Files newsletter, I wanted to start us off with a look into the psychology behind why you might want to sign up in the first place. There’s a lot of fascination with serial killers and murderers in popular culture, which can be seen everywhere from hugely successful podcasts to Netflix specials to best-selling books.

But just why do we have this uncommon fascination with serial killers and their ways of mayhem? What is it that keeps us from looking away? Why do some of us even come to the point of harbouring attraction to them, as in the case of famously ‘handsome’ Ted Bundy?

There are a few reasons that all come together in a perfect storm to create that surreal fascination we feel. Let’s dive into those and explore them - before we look at ten examples of women who loved serial killers so much, they ended up marrying them!
