Rhiannon D'Averc - Livestream reminder

Just dropping by today to remind you all that it's now only a short time before the new Serial Investigations book is live! The ebook will be released on Monday and I'm hoping to get the paperback out at the same time - keep your fingers crossed that Amazon's staff are checking it quickly behind the scenes!

I'm going to be doing a livestream as always, but this time on the Wednesday instead of launch day. Why? Because last time I had the paperback in my hands during the livestream, and it turned out to be so much better to do it that way! So, going forwards, I'll leave myself just enough room to get the paperback out and delivered to be able to show it off properly.

When I do go live, it will be at 3pm on Instagram, and you can join me here. Follow me before the day to get a notification when I go live!

Rhiannon D'Averc - Blood Sacrifice Blurb

It's just over a week to go before the launch of Blood Sacrifice, and I'm here with another sneak peek! This time, it's the blurb - read it all below...

A romantic trip to Paris…
… A dead body at a famous landmark.

A trip to Paris for Ram’s birthday was never going to go smoothly. From the second he spots a police presence while exploring a monument and learns there’s been a murder, he’s chomping at the bit to get involved – and when he’s recognised by a fan, he gets his chance.

With Will sucked into the investigation as well, this should a chance for them to enjoy an international reputation and solve a case for the Paris police. But as more bodies appear and the case gets more complicated, their unfamiliar surroundings could turn around and bite them.

Locked out of their hotel, with their cash stolen and an unfriendly police force shutting them out, Ram and Will might just come up against their biggest opponent yet. Are they embroiled in a conspiracy that could overtake them entirely – or are the shadows in the corners of Notre-Dame really just shadows?

If you’re a fan of BBC’s Luther, Jo Nesbo’s Harry Hole, or sharply witty gay men, you’ll love Serial Investigations. Try to stay alive in Blood Sacrifice, a mystery set in the city of love – where red is now the colour of blood, not romance.

Click 'Buy Now' to enter the minds of stressed and struggling detectives as they tackle the a vast Satanic conspiracy that could swallow them whole.

You can grab your pre-order of the ebook at this link, and you can also get the paperback in the same place on release day!

Rhiannon D'Averc - SI8 Release Delay & New Details

This week, I've taken the difficult decision to delay the release of Blood Sacrifice by two weeks.

The reason for the delay is that I just didn't feel it was up to scratch and ready for release. On the last pass through I spotted a plot hole which needs a bit of stitching up, which in turn means I have to run through all my usual editing stages again with a new section added. I want to make sure that each book is up to the standard you expect, so this was the obvious decision to take.

The pre-order is still available via the same link, but the release date is now 14th June 2021. I have not shifted back the release of the next book as of yet, so we should still be on schedule for the planned releases through the rest of the year.

Honestly, this is likely a knock-on effect from the fact that I had delayed Blood Pressure's release for a month in March. While I did get that book done early, I then didn't start working on Blood Sacrifice quickly enough! I am already in the planning phases of Serial Investigations 9, so I hope this won't have any further impact.

Rhiannon D'Averc - SI8 Release Date and Preorder!

Over the last couple of weeks, I've been unveiling little by little the news about Blood Sacrifice and what to expect from it. Today, I'm pleased to announce the release date as the 31st March 2021.

If you want to be guaranteed your ebook copy on the day of release, you can grab it now on preorder! Head to the Amazon page here and you can get your hands on it as soon as it's available.

If you're holding on for the paperback, never fear! I will try my hardest, as always, to get it up at the same time as the ebook release. It does rely on Amazon approviing everything on time, but fingers crossed we can get them to match up this time as well as they did last time! The link will be the same, so bookmark it or use Amazon's link to sign up for author updates if you want to know when the paperback is released.

I can't wait for you to read this one!

Rhiannon D'Averc - SI8 Cover REVEAL!

Last weekend, I promised I would reveal the cover for Blood Sacrifice. It doesn't take a detective to work out that that's exactly what I'm going to do today!

(On making this blog post, I actually came to realise that I hadn't narrowed the choice down between two variations of the cover yet. So, today, a hard choice was made! Actually, it's a good job I was forced to make the decision, otherwise it might have dragged on even longer!)

So, without further ado, here it is: the cover for the eighth book in the Serial Investigations series, Blood Sacrifice!

Rhiannon D'Averc - SI8 Title Reveal!

It doesn't even feel real that we're here already - but we are!

It's time again to begin the build-up for the launch of the eighth book in the Serial Investigations series. As you readers know by now, the name of the book will give you some clue about what goes on in the plot, especially when combined with the design on the cover. Actually, I think the cover is super exciting this time around, and you'll see what I mean when it is also revealed next week!

For now, let me leave you with the title. Serial Investigations 8 will be called...

BLOOD SACRIFICE

See you next time for more clues on what that means!

Rhiannon D'Averc - Recent Articles Round-Up

As some of you know, beyond my fiction work, I'm also the Chief Editor of a fashion magazine. London Runway has been going strong since 2017, and during that time I've written a lot of articles!

I thought I'd share a round-up of some of the most recent articles here. I don't usually share them on this blog, but I thought they might turn out to be of some interest to those of you who include fashion in your interests - after all, if I love gay crime fiction AND fashion, it's not out of the question to think someone else might too!

Here are a few bits and pieces to sink your teeth into:

Chief Editor Rhiannon D’Averc shares her secrets to always getting to every location shoot with just one bag – super useful for moving around the city!

Rhiannon D’Averc shares her tips on not just getting work, but getting paid. As a model, finding paid work is very important. This is how you can earn a living from doing something that you love.

This issue, London Runway has teamed up with Samanta Bullock’s #SBChallenge to present a series of magazine covers starring disabled models. Rhiannon D’Averc explains more…

Rhiannon D’Averc explains a new London Runway initiative designed to raise awareness about fair representation for models. In the past few years, London Runway has always worked hard towards three goals: sustainability, equality, and representation...

Rhiannon D'Averc - Why Chasing the Latest Book Trend is a Terrible Idea

Another week, and another bit of advice for writers on Medium! The Coffeelicious published this piece, and you can read it here. In the meantime, here's a teaser below to get you interested...

First, it was boy wizards. Then vampires, especially teenage ones. Werewolves had a bit of a resurgence for a time, and then there was kink brought to a wider audience of bored housewives who devoured it like nothing else. There were books about codes hidden in religious texts or artistic masterpieces, teen heroes chosen to save the world from a dystopian reality game, and on and on and on.

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the last twenty years, you’ll recognise these examples as major trends that have swept through the world of publishing and movies. They spawned bestsellers and then a million copycats who flooded bookstore shelves until we were saturated and moved on to the next thing.

So, what is an aspiring author to do if they want a guaranteed publishing deal? Write whatever matches the current big trend, of course, so they can get in front of publishers who want something that is proven to sell!

Right?

Well, no. Actually, that’s an awful idea. Here’s why.
