Inspiration
Hello, everyone! Happy Saturday. Well, the day will end in 6 hours (and counting). I've been trying to keep myself occupied. Today, I watched an interesting movie that was made almost two years ago. I promised a friend of mine that I would watch it for her and let her know how it goes. It's called Bajiroa Mastani. The movie takes place int the 18th century. It's about a young Peshwa (equal role to a modern -day prime minister), who fell in love with a king's daughter/warrior from another land. Unfortunately, the Peshwa is Hindu and the girl is Muslim, so there was conflict when these to fell in love. Not only that, the Peshwa is married to another girl.
Now I'm not a big fan of romantic drama movies, but I love how there's a message behind it. The movie itself is garished in regal colors which makes the film more beautiful, You feel hypnotized by the way it looks, and the movie is well edited and trimmed to perfection. So if you're a desi fan or someone who loves historical fiction, romance, and action, check it out.
So you all are wondering, "Why are you talking about a Hindi movie in this blog?" Because this movie got me inspired with creativity. I'm sure writers like me have been inspired by reading books, research, or a movie. That's how I came up with my novel (check out The White Sirens on Amazon, please).
So it's ok to get inspiration from other great works, as long as you put as much effort into your own work. In other words, no stealing people's work.
I hope everyone will have a good weekend. ;) And be sure to check out my novel, The White Sirens. Available on Amazon in ebook version. https://www.amazon.com/White-Sirens-S...

Identity
Everyone tries to find out who they are. Even as they get older, they still try to find out their identy. I do too, to be honest. Even though I'm writer, I still try to search within myself. And if you feel like you're trying to find out who you are, then you come to the right place (or maybe not).
So I do different things to find my identity. Few of my best options are writing, drawing, and reading books (mostly writing and reading). I feel happy and understood because most of the time, I've been misunderstood by other people (hard to believe but it's the truth).
And I know that people would go out to find themselves. But for me, it's different. The reason why is because during high school, I'm not allowed to go out unless if it's important/necessary. And I know that there are desi girls out there knows what I'm talking about. So it's more hard for me to find out about my identity, including desi girls.
But it's not just desi girls. Another problem wth finding out your identity is also accepting it. And most desi boys and girls have a hard time accepting their Indian culture (maybe not). It's hard to accept it because you live in America and you get used to the culture. So I know how it feels to accept your own culture, because I felt like that way when I was a teenager. But something had changed my life.
I was reading my poem to the class in Creative Writing. It was about my perspective of the world and how I lost touch to my culture (I'm gonna post that on Throwback Thursday's edition). So my teacher/writing mentor told me about this book called The Namesake. If anyone know about it, great! If not, it's about an Indian family that is trying to adapt to American culture while keeping their Indian traditions alive. However, their son is having a hard time accepting his culture.
So if any desi boys are girl are having a hard time accepting their Indian heritage, check out The Namesake. I've read it and had impacted me. Because of that book, I get to enjoy who I am and watched a lot of Indian films and muisc videos. Though, I've watched them before I read the book, but it didn't impact me a lot like the book did.
I hope you all enjoyed reading my post. And make sure to check out my novel, The White Sirens. Available on Amazon in ebook version. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZY1N2TM/...

Writing Exercises
Happy, Wednesday! We're half way through this week and off for the weekend. I know I want to relax and have fun on the weekend. I hope everyone has plans. Me, I'm just want to read my book and care about anything in the world.
I was going to neglect my blog post for one day, but instead, I had second thoughts. I didn't have anything write about yet. Though, I am going to post a short story for Mystery and Thriller week. I may be into Young Adult and fantasy, but I do love to explore through other genres by doing some writing exercises.
Why do I want to do that? Because I thought it might help me generate an idea for future stories. I can always look back and get an idea on what to write. Plus, it's a good idea to strengthen your mind as you get old. I learned that just today and what better what to do it is by doing some writing exercises.
I'm afraid that I won't post my short story yet, since I'm not done with the outcome of it. Maybe by tomorrow, I'll post it. For now, keep up-to-date with my posts. I will still post tomorrow's edition of Throwback Thursday.
And be sure to check out my new novel, The White Sirens. My excerpt is available on Goodreads. The full of my book is available on Amazon in ebook version. ^-^ https://www.amazon.com/White-Sirens-S...

A Double Mystery (Dun Dun Dun)
"What does my boss want from me?" I thought when I walked through the halls, passing every cubicle office.
My boss, Mr. Steiner, told me to come to his office immediately when I’m done talking to the customer on the phone. When he first said that, my heart was pacing so fast that I was dizzy. I wasn’t able to concentrate on my call with the customer. Though, I managed to do a good job and hung up the phone before leaving the office.
As I entered the room, everything was empty. Even the paperwork and folders were gone. Was Mr. Steiner missing? He did tell me to meet him in his office before I finish dealing with a customer. I kept telling myself that he must’ve stopped by someone and had to run for a few minutes. It would be no problem.
So to keep me distracted, I looked through his office window. The view was fantastic yet petrifying. I might have been fifty feet from my workplace to that concrete sidewalk. At least I was safe inside Mr. Steiner’s corner office. I dreamed of having my own office like Mr. Steiner’s. Fern trees backed against each corner, a painting of a park bench, street lights, trees in different colors that is hanging by the white, bright wall, dark brown, wooden desk, and a black swivel chair. Of course, I had my own desk and swivel chair, but I had cubicle office like everyone else. It was not as big as Mr. Steiner’s, so it was hard for me to get around when I’m cramped with many paperwork and folders.
If only I had my own office, I wouldn't have to deal with less space or the cold air that gave my bare ankles goosebumps. After all, I was wearing a black suit, white dress shirt, black skirt that is down to my knees, and black heels.
I’ve waited for Mr. Steiner for forty-five minutes, yet he was still not here. Where could he have gone? So without any hesitation, I scanned around his office to find any clues.
Then, I noticed something red on the calendar. "My first clue," I guessed and approached it.
As I got closer, the red ink is circled on today’s date. There was no little note on it. Is this how Mr. Steiner remembered important meetings and social gatherings?
I moved on to my boss’ desk and searched through his belongings. God forbid me, if Mr. Steiner walked through his door and saw me going through his stuff, he would kill me. The door creaked open but, when I looked up, I saw that it was my co-worker/friend, Kate. She stepped back quickly before I could see what she was holding. “Kate, don’t scare me,” I gasped.
“I’m sorry, Erin. I didn’t mean to do that.” My co-worker looked around the office before she asked, “Is Mr. Steiner still not back?”
“No. Do you know where he is?”
“Uh.” Kate was hesitant while looking nervous. I arched my eyebrow, curious by my friend’s behavior. “Nope, not a clue,” she only answered.
I wasn’t buying it because of Kate’s big, nervous grin on her face. I knew that Kate was hiding something and, whenever she hides a secret, she gets nervous. She must’ve known where Mr. Steiner was, and she was holding my next clue that I needed to unveil.
I was going to walk over to where Kate was standing until she closed the door behind her, hearing the sound of Kate’s heavy breathing and footsteps. I cursed under my breath and started run after her.
Everyone was giving me odd glances at me and my friend, but I tried to ignore. I knew that my high heels were not meant for chasing down my friend, but what other choice did I have? At least I was catching up to her.
And I managed to catch her before I caught sight of balloons, flowers, and a banner that says “Happy Promotion and Retirement.”
“Surprise,” everyone yelled in excitement.
I took in what’s around me; my jaw dropped and remained agape, as I couldn’t express what I felt until a few moments later. “What is going on?!”
“It’s your party,” Kate exclaimed.
“And mine,” Mr. Steiner’s voice had cut through, as he walked in front of the crowd.
“I don’t understand, sir. Why is it our party?”
“Because I’m retiring, and I found the perfect person to run this company.” Mr. Steiner walked a few paces toward me and patted me on the shoulder. “I believe can do it, Erin, since you have worked with me for ten years. And now that my time is up, it’s time to pass on the baton to you.”
Mr. Steiner’s words have melted my heart that I could not utter a word. I didn’t expect to get a big promotion from him. It would be an honor that I would run this company as he did. I thought I was going to be fired from him, even though I had been working with Mr. Steiner for so long. But I shouldn’t have thought that before I came to his office.
This was the best surprise that I’d ever had, and it was a good thing that I unveiled a double mystery.

Promote Book and More
Hey, everyone. I'm sorry that I didn't post a Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday edition, because I've been cooped up. At least I posted a short story for #Mysteryweek so that's good enough. Also, I've finished a book that I was reading for the past couple of weeks (I've been busy). Every heard of A Shadow Bright and Burning? I finally got to finish the first book. I cannot wait to read the second book.
Now I'm reading A City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments series). I haven't gotten far from the book, but it does sound interesting. I know I read a lot of old, popular books but I might as well wait for other new books to arrive. Plus, I hate when I read a new series, I have to wait for the new book to arrive. It just frustrates me. Though, I can always wait by reading other series and novels that were already published (to be honest, I do get books from the library. I never buy any books, since I want save money on necessities).
I hear that some of my loved ones and theirs are reading my book. I'm happy that They're reading it. Hopefully, I get good reviews. If you haven't got the chance to read my book, don't worry. You can feel free to read the excerpt of my book on Goodreads. And if you're interested, I'll have the link for you guys to purchase my book. Remember, it's ONLY available on Amazon in ebook version. https://www.amazon.com/White-Sirens-S...
I hope you all will have a lovely weekend. ^-^

My day
Another busy day I had. Though, it wasn't a lot busy as Friday's. But I do feel a little exhausted, after doing some work at home. Thankfully, I get to go home and drink my green tea.
Weird how some authors that I know would drink coffee to write. Of course they keep you awake. As for me, I cannot drink anything that contains caffeine. Maybe once in a while, but I cannot drink coffee everyday. I have anxiety issues, and if I drink it, I become hyper and get giddy but later, I would feel anxious like there's no tomorrow.
So I think green tea helps me. Despite that it has a hint of caffeine, it has health benfits. So if you want to be healthy, change coffee to green tea.
I might not spend a lot of time on my phone, because I didn't get enough sleep. Plus, I've been staring at the computer/phone screen for two hours. Time for me to read more of The City of Bones from The Mortal Instruments series. It's quite interesting as I keep interesting. ^-^
Hope you guys read my novel, The White Sirens. It's available on Amazon in ebook version.

Indian skin (Why it matters)
Hey, everyone. Hope you all are having a wonderful day. I'm going to be busy in an hour or so, but I want to talk about this important topic that everyone's been discussing. It's not totally big, but I do like to talk about it in my blog.
Last week, I heard about Vogue India celebrating their 10th anniversary. And what better way to celebrate is to have a white model in the cover that everyone love/hate (mostly, people hate her).
I'm not trying to bash on Kendall Jenner. Maybe she had an interest in Indian culture (Though, I hardly know much about her). But it's disappointing to see someone, who's not Indian, would be in the cover. I mean I love how some people who are interested in Indian culture. As long as they respect and have full heart on it, that's fine. But I feel like the magazine company used her at the wrong time. Why couldn't they have used popular actors or actresses, like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, or Hrithik Roshan? That has baffled my mind.
Instead of having white models being on the cover magazine, why can't they do something special? For instance, why can't they celebrate of what makes India so special and unique? I've heard that girls with darker brown skin feel like they want to have fair skin like famous Bollywood stars. Meaning, they waste their time changing their skin by using fair creams and cosmetics (I know, right).
So let's all take a moment and think. Maybe Vogue India should've done that. However, it's too late. So instead, I want to end it on a positive. So all you desi boys and girls, dark skin or not, you are beautiful just the way you are. No need to change your skin to be fair and white. And no need to adapt to one's culture to fit in. If you feel uncomfortable to do what other people are doing, then don't do it! ^-^

Taking Time Off
Hey, guys. Yesterday has been a mix of happy and sadness. I was having fun at a party to celebrate my nephew's 2nd birthday. In other news, my cousin is having another baby (gonna be an aunt again)!
Anyway, I need to take some time to myself from other social media, including Goodreads. I cannot say why, but I will come back here soon. In the meantime, you all can check out the rest of my posts, reviews, and my excerpt of my latest novel, The White Sirens. And if you want to buy it, it's available on Amazon in Kindle version.
I'll be back, readers! ^-^

My Visit to the Church
Today was the biggest day. For so long, I haven't visited the Catholic church until today. I must say that it brought me peace in my mind.
I may not be Catholic, but I have visited Our Mother's church ever since when I was a toddler. My family and I would always go there, and every time I go there, I gaze upon the great structure of the church, the artwork, and the statues of St. Mary and Jesus. And compared to the church that I always go to every Sunday, Our Mother's church is much bigger while mine is small and packed with a lot of women on the other side.
As I mentioned before, I felt at peace because I released all of my emotions from my mind and prayed to St. Mary my troubles. It felt good to be in a church where it's big and beautiful. Mostly, there's no noise, arguments, or competition. The church itself brought tranquility and hope for people, who live in poor conditions and are struggling to live. I'm fortunate to come back to the church, where I fee like I was belong, even though I'm Orthodox Christian.
In my philosophy, I think churches should not argue and be greedy with money. I think different churches like the synagogues, mosques, and Christian/Catholic churches should focus on bringing peace in the world and not compete. I know in today's world, people are defending one religion to another and try to show off. Has God, Jesus, or the disciples mentioned about competition in the Bible? I don't think so. Because if we compete, we turn to selfish needs and be greedy. So whatever religion you're in, have faith in it as much as you can and help others. Because in every religion I know, you have to give back the poor and have peace in your mind.
I encourage you all to think about it. If not, then that's ok. Because I love to share my thoughts with the world, and I hope all of you can understand and pass it on. :)

Upcoming collaboration and More
Hey, everyone. It is the weekend! The week felt long but that's ok. At least I'm enjoying myself, reading The mortal Instruments series and getting new ideas for future stories.
I've teamed up with my sister to do a collaboration for her Youtube channel. My sister does gaming channel, but she needs more ideas for it. So my sister was hoping that I can help her. We'll see how it plays out. If you're interested in gaming or you know someone who likes gaming, check out my sister's channel. I'll give you guys the link to check it out. So far, she did Phoenix Wright and Pokemon games. I give my sister full love and support. Hopefully, you guys can do the same. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPPL...
I've updated my Author page on Goodreads. I've added two quotes from book that seem intriguing for all you readers. I'm trying my best to promote my book as much as I can. Just letting you all know, I did not spoil the book for you guys, if anyone is planning to read it. It pertains to description of my book, The White Sirens.
One last thing, I'm planning to write another novel soon. I've taken a head start, but I still have trouble writing due to writer's block (damn them). I know, in my heart, I will come up with something juicy and exciting as my book. Though, it's going to be different. ^-^
In the meantime, keep checking my blog. And check out my latest novel, The White Sirens. Available one Amazon in ebook version. https://www.amazon.com/White-Sirens-S...
