What if the Beyond Rommance demons... are the good guys?

Beyond Romance loves demons!
Everyone has a different image when they think about the concept of demons. I've always enjoyed reading paranormal stories that take expectations and twist them in an original way. So... when I decided to include demons in my universe, it was obvious that they would have to be a little bit different from the usual.
Don't misunderstand. Tascryn demons are a breed apart. They work for "the creator" which is their image of God. They don't do evil. Instead, they are an honorable race dedicated to protecting mortal souls and guiding each of them through transitions from one life to the next. What I'm saying is... they are the good guys.
Tascryn demons come in five power levels. Akryn demons are the most common and they use dreams to guide mortals and prepare them for their destinies. Synn demons are the fun ones who use sex and seduction to seduce mortals into accepting death. The third level are the Cyvampis demons. They feed on blood and drain away the will of more resistant mortals. The most powerful of the regular demons are the Daelyn, death demons, who are responsible for transitioning non-mortal beings and at times even deities. The strongest of all are the Royal demons who lead them all.

I guess that for me demons deserve a different kind of identity. If they are not evil and just a little different, aren't they just like us? Don't they deserve love, too?
When it comes to my demon stories, you can expect them to be emotional and super sexy. These demons work hard and play hard. They often don't concern themselves too much with sexual orientation. Most of them feel pretty happy if they find a soul mate regardless of gender. If they have a chance for love they get serious and fight for that happiness with everything they have.
Sort of a glimpse into how I see the world. Everyone deserves love in whatever form it takes. Well, that's just how I see it. If you want to give them a shot. Look up my stories and try them out.

Hello all my peeps.
Winter drags on and that gives hubby and I a bit more time curled up on the sofa binging a variety of movies or tv series. I think he was trying to offer a small sacrifice for my birthday month and suggested we watch Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire, the series. It's been years since I read those, but I was and continue to be a fan. With the topic being vampires it quickly evolved to discussing the blessings and challenges of immortality.
Life and death are hard enough for us mere humans to lead to some amounts of longing for eternal youth. I certainly have a preference for it considering the longevity of my many book characters. I try not to let the difficulties devolve to deep into angst but it certainly is a reality for non-humans living longer lives. When immortals mingle with mortals, the end result is pain and suffering. It's undeniable, but doesn't have to overshadow the whole relationship.
Some of my heroes find love and in time lose it. Some are strong enough to love again, and some not. How is that any different from any other relationship? One aspect of my connected stories is the opportunity to see more than a glimpse of life. Grant and Amelia, for instance. Amelia chooses to remain human and thus does eventually die of old age. Does that make Grant regret falling for her? How does he overcome the grief? How does he move on and find new love?
Not all my characters are able to move on. Such as Jerdin or Sgrios. Those two continue to break my heart. But someday they too will heal enough to find joy in life once more.

Since this week's topic was immortality... Who is immortal in the Beyond Romance Universe?
Demons? Vampires? Angels? Dragon shifters? Wolf Shifters?
Each one has its own set of rules. Demons, vampires and angels do not age naturally like mortals. Shifters live longer lives but it is their magic that allows them to slow down natural aging. The Valafrn wolf shifters age to adulthood and then do not significantly age until their magic begins to break down at around 1000 years. Mated Valafrn can live even longer because of their shared magic.
Dragon shifters like Amethyst who are bound to humans are able to slow how their bonded human ages, but they cannot stop the aging completely. And the bond between them will only be broken when one of them (usually the human) dies.

Hello all my peeps.
The cold snap continues with no break here on the farm. Although the freezing temps do add a bit more work to the animal care, it also keeps me inside more and at the computer. This week I binged a bit of some favorite anime shows on Crunchyroll. Some of my favorites include "An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to love your elf bride", "Tadaima, Okaeri", "Solo Leveling", and "Heaven Official's Blessing." If you're an anime fan, you might recognize some of those titles. Mostly fantasy romance, boylove and some battle types.
Something about watching and reading romance warms me up with the heart pounding moments.

He pulled back and met her gaze for half a second before claiming her mouth in a deep wild kiss. As if they hadn’t been apart for ten years. As if this was the only thing he wanted in life. As if they were still back on the sand under the stars. But his passion was different, so much darker and deeper than before, demanding a response from her.
In that moment her fears faded and all that mattered was where they connected. His hands pinned her still to the wall. His tongue and lips stole her ability to think. Her whole world shrank down to just the two of them. Nothing else mattered.
She wasn’t the same as when they’d met. She bit his lip and then kissed him back, matching his passion, pouring her stress and emotion into the connection. Six Sentence Sunday
It had been one hell of a long day, starting off with two almost perfectly timed emergency deliveries, followed by a misleadingly light couple of hours.
Then at the end of their shift, the bus accident victims had arrived…
Harley sank onto the bench in front of the row of lockers. It was just after midnight. After finishing a shift and a half, she’d showered and changed, and was so damn tired she could barely sit upright. Despite the exhaustion, she was still wired with frustration over the child they hadn’t been able to save.

Hello all my peeps.
It's been a bit dark here on the farm and our home. The loss of my friend hit very hard last week and ever since it just seems like the start of 2025 has been a little rough. Super-hubby has been down with a cold this week and dealing with winter temps and the farm animals has aggravated my bad back. Not that the birdies care. Well, maybe the turkeys do. They are the sweet ones. And the peas all look at me like some kind of strange monster all bundled up in layers and staggering around with buckets of water...
Never mind all the doom and gloom. This too shall pass. It will be spring in no time and then the bustle of the busy farm will make me forget the months of freezing cold.
About the coming year and what to expect from Beyond Romance books... I'm hoping to slow down just a little this year. The past few years have been a whirlwind of releases that have left me spinning. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do. And being realistic, I'll probably end up just as ambitious as in past years. At least on paper, my current plans look a bit more restrained. First will be to complete the Amethyst trilogy. And later in the year I plan to release the next three Eagle Clan novels.
I'm sure I'll eventually give in to my ADHD and throw some more shorter works into the schedule. I have a list of novellas that are already drafted and just need one tweak or another, so you can bet, those will get released at some point.
Another point of note: This week's newsletter will be the first offering of an author spotlight section. I don't know yet if this will be a weekly event or just a now and then surprise. Make sure you check it out below.

Hello all my peeps.
It's been a hard couple days, filled with sadness and loss. A very dear friend of mine passed on on Christmas Day. I've been a mess trying to process grief while still keeping up with all the responsibilities of the holidays.
Dealing with loss always drives home the point of how very fragile our day to day happiness really is. Maybe that is why I turn my gaze to my fantasy world were wolves, demons and dragons rarely have to deal with old age or illness. It may not be real, but it continues to be my happy place.
Sorry for the short note today. I promise to talk your ear off next week.

Hello all my peeps.
Winter is marching in all cool like Fonzie. But the farm keeps on rolling, the same as usual, just with more water carrying. My back is not loving it but the critters are all doing well.
A few days ago the newest Dragon Bound story released.I'm super excited about this trilogy. Unlike most of my work, Amethyst is in first person. Another difference is the focus of the story is more like urban fantasy than my usual paranormal romance. But you know I love my happy endings. For the complete HEA you'll have to ride it through three short novels. With that in mind I won't be doing any particular promotions for the release or adding the series to KU until all three are available.

Hello all my peeps.
It's pretty cold here in Western PA. Down to twenty degrees and that means I've been busy getting all the winter supplies set up for the critters.
I'm a bit of a holiday ho-ho. I love Christmas. Love the spirit of it, the highs, the stress, the heartfelt hugs, and hard goodbyes. Yep, it might not all be positives, but I love them all anyhow. For some reason I just feel closer to everyone and that is a feeling that I really cherish.
Most of all, I believe in spoiling everyone I care about. Santa isn't some sexy dude off in the cold that only shows up once a year. If I want Santa to be real, I'll step up and be him for everyone I can. So I buy presents and hide them away all year long and give far more than I ever receive. And in this way I spoil myself too.
So while in the spirit of whatever holiday you celebrate, don't forget to spoil yourself a bit too. Steal a day with a book, plan that vacation, buy the chocolate. Give to everyone else, but keep a little bit back for yourself too.
And a little hello to all the new subscribers (over 400 in the last 3 weeks!) Welcome! Pull up a beanbag and make yourself comfy.
