SUB POP USA: The Sub Pop 2016 Loser Scholarship Deadline Approaching!
As detailed in his SUB POP USA: The Subterranean Pop Anthology 1980–1988, Bruce Pavitt spent the formative years of Sub Pop at Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, basking in the opportunities the town and school presented a self-professed music geek. Bruce did shows at the community/college radio station KAOS-FM, and while there he availed himself of the massive wealth of music amassed by OP publisher John Foster, leading to the creation of Subterranean Pop magazine. SUB POP USA: Green River’s Caustic 1984 Demos To See Vinyl Release
Our comrades at Jackpot Records in Portland have seen fit to prepare Green River’s dirty, caustic 1984 demos for vinyl release to indie record stores this upcoming Record Store Day, April 16. Billed as the first-ever grunge recordings, the sessions found their way to producer Jack Endino, and…well, Endino himself tells us:

Perpetual Conversion: Nuclear Assault’s Final Flight, Holland, 12/12/15
Several months after the final European show by Nuclear Assault, and the bitter pain of loss still haunts the denim hordes. The answers are blurry and a little bizarre. There might have been three, possibly four, okay maybe five awnings total. Many believe JFA stole one, and though the band has never fessed up, judging by their attitudes in the We Got Power! book this seems like a distinc...
