1. Paperback, hardback, audiobook?

If this is about my preferences, all have their place in my heart. Paperbacks are easy to handle and notate; hardbacks are hardier, but less amenable to leaving notes, and I love audiobooks while driving.

If it is about my writing, I’ve published an ebook and paperback, but not a hardback or audiobook. Yet.

2. Pick a genre, any genre!

Genres baffle me, actually. I can never figure exactly where some things fit...

1.      Paperback, hardback, audiobook?

In my heart and soul, I want to say hardback. I will almost always buy a hardback copy of a book, if it’s available. But I am a slow reader, and I have a ton of time at work to blow through audiobooks.

2.      Pick a genre, any genre!

Fantasy! It’s what I read and write. 🙂

3.      What is the first book you remember reading?

Some children’s book, I’m sure. Maybe the one with the fish with the sparkl...

Film Review: Logan’s Run (1976)

a dark red room with a dark red projector; text says 'film review: r. crunden'

I meant to write this film review months ago and I had it half-started and then totally forgot to post it. So of course now I should probably rewatch the film to refresh my memory, ha! But don’t take my procrastination as a sign that I didn’t enjoy the film. I thought it was fantastic! A true dystopian, sci-fi classic.

Logan’s Run takes place in the year 2274 where humans live in a futuristic dome, sheltered from the outside world and living lives of bountiful joy – with one painful catc...

Paperback, hardback, audiobook?

Journeys: the Archers of Saint Sebastian is available in hardback, paperback, and as an ebook. It’s also enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. I personally prefer reading paperbacks! I love reading in the bathtub.

2. Pick a genre, any genre!

Journeys is a frothy but literate romantic YA/crossover historical adventure. It has an immersive setting and unique world like fantasy (my 14th century Belgian fictional archers’ guil...

1.      Paperback, hardback, audiobook?

I’m a sucker for hardback! I don’t care how much money it is, I’m here for the aesthetic!

2.      Pick a genre, any genre!

Mystery! I like putting a mystery element in my works, even if it’s not the main genre.

3.      What is the first book you remember reading?

Frog & Toad, specifically the short story where they’re using their “willpower” to not eat all the cookies!

4.      What book shaped your ch...

Book Review: The Hidden King (2019)

girl reading at a table, tucking hair behind her ear; text says 'book review: review by rebecca crunden'

The Hidden King by E.G. Radcliff

To chase a pretty story felt like foolishness when scraping by was hard enough, and the towering cliffs jutting up from the lowland presented another deadly discouragement. People told themselves that their lives were as good as they could ever be.

The Hidden King is the first in The Coming of Áed series, a fast-paced fantasy adventure that throws twists and turns with magical acumen. Not only does THK set up a fantastical world that the reader only get...

1.      Paperback, hardback, audiobook?

I love the feel of a hardback or paperback, but I love the convenience of eBooks. Sometimes I want to highlight text, but I feel like it’s a disservice to the physical book if I mark it in any way. This is a silly opinion, as it’s my own book, but it just never left me. With eBooks, I can add as many comments or highlights as I want. As for audiobooks, I love that they exist, but I have a hard time f...

Review Roundup

The Fast Little Fox by Jill Horton: [review] Oh my gosh this is such a cute little book! The artwork is so colourful and lovely, and the storyline is fun and sweet. A great book for young kids!

A Taste of What’s to Come by Lily Lawson: [review]
When the waters of the morning
are still silent and so calm,
and the newness of day dawning
seems to shelter me from harm.

Some very cool poetry in this collection! Lawson has a clear, rhythmic, eloquent style and I enjoyed these poem...

Author Interview: Alan Scott

a foggy cathedral; text says 'author interview: indie book spotlight'

Check out my reviews of Alan Scott’s books Tales of Solomon Pace and Tea!

1.  Paperback, hardback, audiobook?

I love audiobooks when out walking or doing the ironing (yes, I do the ironing lol). I very rarely read paperbacks or hardback now. However, I use Kindle a lot, and yes I know that is heresy. However, as authors if we do not embrace change then readers will look elsewhere.

2.      Pick a genre, any genre!

Easy – fantasy.

3.      What is the first book you remember read...
