Grip is held loose but firm. Solid and sure.
Guard buffers cool against fist, ripe for hurt.
Blade glints in light, awaits blood to procure.

Words are rehearsed. Chosen to inflict pain.
Synonym for syllable till perfect.
Unleashed, unfurled, unable to restrain.
Rage slips from tongue and cannot be unchecked.

Perhaps if you plunge your knife into me,
And I scream my hate tarnished words at you,
Our weapons will clash, strike, smite and then free...

Cafe

Roger blinked when saw it; a bright orange tentacle darting out from behind the counter saving his plate from crashing to the ground. Roger rubbed his eyes, convinced it was little sleep, too much coffee, and his penchant for overthinking. The only person serving was Pschemek, who had now worked in the cafe for more than two months. Roger still couldn’t pronounce his name, or work up the courage to ask him for coffee—elsewhere, as in the form of a date—but this new development? This changed ...

Raife and Dexter Are Getting Married

Raife and Dexter are one of those couples who make lonely people reach for a bucket of ice cream and watch Bridget Jones for the hundredth time. They also just happen to be getting married, in the most perfect of venues, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Life couldn’t be better for them. They have good careers, a beautiful house, and still make heart eyes at each other because they are so ridiculously, sappily in love. Doesn’t it make you sick?

They really do have it all. Ex...

It's simple, really.
When you rise, I fall.
When you shine bright
I am nothing but a memory dulled and blocked from view.
There are entire compass points between us
No matter how hard we chase the night across the sky.
Sometimes you have to bask in someone else's brightness
And save your need for spotlight for some other time.
Others, they call our love unrequited,
Destined to never share the same space in the same hours.
Though we do, always, even without ...

I like it that way.
I tell myself, I am a phoenix.
Rising from the ashes in glorious plumage, whilst all around me becomes mere dust.
Chest puffed out, head held high, eyes the colour of fire and rust.
And as I stretch my wings,
I can achieve anything.

But maybe I am no phoenix.
Maybe I am pyromaniac.
Not to be trusted with matches,
Dra...

Things I Like: Canva

Are you artistic? Great with a pencil and paintbrush, traditional, digital, or otherwise? I have the biggest, most scowly of envious faces right now looking at you, just so you know. For people like me who can’t even get creative with a stick person, there are, thankfully, more talented people than us out there to help us do artsy things. One such group of people are the good folk at Canva.
