So wrong. But full disclosure here....before I knew how wrong it was, I rode a few elephants in Thailand. They weren't babies, but they were in captivity in an elephant camp. At the time I didn't know the ugly details of how some come to be there. Now, I fully understand that it is wrong to keep these elephants in captivity just for the enjoyment of tourists.

Not a good week to be the Nikki Beach Hotel on the island of Phuket in southern Thailand - or one of the local elephants. Facebook users have spoken.

One of the boys coming to our Cleft Exchange in a few weeks is known in the adoption community as Billy. He is six years old and has a severe and rare facial cleft. Billy has been available for adoption for quite some time, but sadly he still remains unchosen. His orphanage tells us that he is very self-conscious about his facial difference, and so we are thrilled that our medical team will be able to help him through surgery.
We hope you'll get to know Billy and two other children waiting for surgery in today's blog: http://bit.ly/1HLB7PU
