Courageous Love
Years after I'd been married I learned something about love. Shaunti Feldham talked about it in For Women Only and Emerson Eggerich paid a lot of attention to it in his book Love and Respect. Did you guess?
What I learned is that men receive love through respect. It's their language. It's what makes them feel valuable!
One of my favorite movies from last year was Courageous. While I

Writing advice from C.S. Lewis
{source}
Sibella Giorello posted this on her blog. Love it.In 1959, an American schoolgirl appealed to C. S. Lewis for writing advice, and he sent her a list of eight rules for good writing: 1. Turn off the radio [and television]. 2. Read good books and avoid most magazines. 3. Write with the ear, not the eye. Make every sentence
sound good. 4. Write only about things that interest you.

Announcing Allume Social!
A few months ago I announced I was going to be speaking at the
Relevant conference in October. I've just received word I won't be
speaking at Relevant. Sigh.
That's because Relevant has a new name. Relevant is now Allume
Social! (And, yes, I will be speaking there!)
Why? Relevant is a common name in Christian communities. Allume
Social is anything but common! (You can read

How to Make Today Truly Miserable (Unofficial Unrecommended List)
{source}
Open your eyes and think of all you didn't get done yesterday.
Assume the worst when your husband asks, "So do you have any plans today?" As if you didn't have a huge to-do list every day.
Push aside your Bible reading and jump into sorting that stinky pile of laundry.
Remember what it used to feel like to wear your skinny, skinny jeans.

Three Perfect Gifts for Your Parents (a guide for teens)
Sometimes it's easy to forget parents are human. They mess up and hope you don't see. They act up and hope you'll forgive them (even if they shrink back from asking forgiveness). They get tired and cranky, know it, and feel bad about it.
Here are three perfect gifts you can give them during this time.
