“Nobody Likes My Blog”

The other day I was walking through the kitchen, and my daughter was playing with her Barbies on the counter.
As I passed, I heard her say…
_”Nobody likes my blog!”_
I asked her, “Did you just say_ Nobody Likes My Blog?”_
When she confirmed, I asked if she knew what a _blog_ was.
She didn’t. She had heard that line on a Barbie cartoon, and adopted it for her own playing.
I see her and her brother constantly absorbing someone else’s content and using it for their own entertainment.
The great thing is, you can do it too.
Public Domain content is work that is not copyrighted, that you can profit some.
In fact, nearly all US federal government publications are in the public domain.
And you can take those works, and create more content to sell.
You just have to know what you are doing.

How to play an April Fools joke on the Government

Every year in the US, there is a date called Tax Freedom Day. It marks how many days into the new year Americans must work, just to pay taxes.
This year it is April 17th.
It is like a cruel April Fools joke on taxpayers (especially when you consider they send most of our tax money outside of the US).
But there is a way you can use the Federal Government to take back some of the money (even if you are not a US citizen).
It is called Public Domain.
Public Domain content in a nutshell are works that are not protected by copyright, either due to age or law.
Interestingly, nearly all federal government publications are in the public domain.
And you can take those works, and create more content to sell.
You just have to know what you are doing.

What continues to be my biggest fear in this online world?
I call it FORO, Fear Of Reaching Out.
One of the best things we can do as we grow (as authors or entrepreneurs) is connect with others.
It allows us to reach other audiences, and even participate in JV (joint venture) partnerships.
When you guest on a summit or podcast, your message and your name ends up in that person’s audience in perpetuity.
The tough part is, how do you get those types of gigs?
It is an overwhelming prospect, unless you have a system to reach out.
Otherwise, you are probably just spinning your wheels.

Sofia is primarily a fiction author, but she joined this non-fiction anthology project of mine, a book on success, in order to help start an online authoring business.
The cool thing is…
Imagine being a co-author on that book, and being exposed every time one of the other authors takes a step to promote it like Sofia did.
That is why I love the idea of guest podcasting too.
With every little effort you make, your interviews on other podcasts will be out there giving you authority and bringing new people to your audience. And it does it permanently, without any additional effort.
