Interview: Minerva Cerridwen

I did an interview for Asexual Artists. Many thanks to Lauren Jankowski for featuring me!

Asexual Artists

Today we’re joined by Minerva Cerridwen. Minerva is a phenomenal SFF author and visual artist. For writing, she has a story published in Unburied Fables and recently released her novella, The Dragon of Ynys (which features an aro-ace main character). Visual art is more of a hobby for her, though she does do commissions. Minerva does handlettering and draws, using traditional mediums such as pencils and ink. It’s clear she’s a very passionate and dedicated artist, as you’ll soon read. My thanks to her for taking the time to participate in this interview.

WORK

Please, tell us about your art.

I’ve always loved writing, and to my great joy I can call myself a published author these days. I mainly write fantasy and science fiction and sometimes dabble in poetry and horror. So far I’ve got a short story in the queer fairy tale anthology Unburied Fables

An Interview with Snap

Hello!

A new character interview was published today, this time with Snap, the dragon of Ynys himself! You can read it here: http://candidceillie.com/character-interview-snap-the-dragon-of-ynys/

I also realise I haven’t shown off my absolutely awesome phone cover yet, here on the blog. And a friend made this brilliant keychain for me! My eternal thanks to her, and of course to Kirby Crow for the design of The Dragon of Ynys‘ cover.

[image error]And some not-Dragon-related news:

The publication of Darkling’s Beasts and Brews: Poetry with a Drink on the Side is expected in October 2018, ready to provide some Halloween goodness. You can find its cover and table of contents here on Facebook.

I also rearranged my website a little, mainly making the Stories page a lot neater than it was. Have a look around and let me know what you think!

The Dragon of Ynys is now available at:

Less Than Three Press (Publisher; 20% off in June for Pride month!) | Barnes & Noble | Smashwords | Kobo | Amazon (US) | Amazon (Canada) | Amazon (UK) | Amazon (De)

and you can add it on Goodreads.

(That’s right, you can see me babble in English for 30 minutes. I wasn’t nervous at all… *ahem*)

A very big thank you to all of these bloggers! If you have the time, be sure to check out the rest of the websites and channel of these awesome people as well.

I’d also like to thank everyone who’s been writing reviews outside of the blog tour! In the past week I’ve gotten the question whether it’s important to buy the book from one specific retailer in order to get its sales numbers up, and as far as I know, that’s not important at all. But something that does help massively is to leave reviews on both Goodreads and Amazon (even if you didn’t buy the book there). Books with more than 50 reviews (that’s text reviews, not just the star ratings on Goodreads) get promoted more on those websites. So if you’ve read the book, I really appreciate it if you post a review! It doesn’t have to be long at all, as long as there are some words

Blog Tour!

I’m doing a blog tour for The Dragon of Ynys! People can contact me if they want to write a review, do an interview or feature a guest post on their blogs. That way more people will become aware The Dragon exists and hopefully they’ll get curious enough to check out the story for themselves.

Would you like an Advance Review Copy in exchange for an honest review? Or do you have a blog, website or YouTube channel where you’d like to feature a post about The Dragon? Then check out this form!

I’m honoured to say I already got a few responses. This week I’ll be recording my first video interview… Exciting but also a little bit scary!

THE DRAGON OF YNYS on Goodreads and on sale

You can now add my novella to your shelves on Goodreads! Click here to find it.

If you ever hesitate if you should publish a Goodreads review for a book you’ve read, know that the answer is yes. Reviews will show on your Goodreads friends’ feeds, giving them the chance to discover independent books. They’re a handy tool for readers who are checking out a book and want to find out if it’s something they might enjoy. And I’ve heard many other authors say that on Amazon, books with more than 50 reviews will be promoted more, based on their algorithms (though I can’t immediately find a reliable source for this). So even if your review is just a few words, they are of enormous value to authors.

That said, I also want to tell you that The Dragon of Ynys is even more on sale than it already was! Aside from the preorder sale, Less Than Three Press is celebrating its ninth birthday this month. That means there’s an extra 29% sale in April, and with every book you buy from them, you’re entered into a raffle (read more about all that here!). For my novella, this means there’s a 40% sale in total, so it’s only $1.80 if you buy it this month. And then it’s just a month and 10 days’ wait until it arrives in your mailbox ^^

THE DRAGON OF YNYS available for preorder!!

Every time something goes missing from the village, Sir Violet makes his way to the dragon’s cave and negotiates the item’s return. It’s annoying, but at least the dragon is polite.

But when the dragon steals a person, that’s a step too far. As Sir Violet ventures out to get the missing baker back, however, he quickly realizes things are not at all what they seem…

My debut novella will be released on May 16 with LT3 Press but you can already preorder it now for only $2.54! Sir Violet, the main character, is aro/ace, other important characters are lesbian and trans, and of course there’s a dragon!

Get it HERE!

Darkling’s Cover Reveal!

Darkling’s Beasts and Brews: Poetry with a Drink on the Side has a cover! And an awesome one too, in my opinion.

A larger version and the Table of Contents of this horror poetry anthology can be found on LVP Publications’ Facebook page. The book contains my Frankenspider and Haiku, and the great L.S. Reinholt, with whom I’ve written a science fiction novel which we’re currently editing, also has two poems in it. Every poem will be paired with a drinks recipe (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and I can’t wait to see those combinations! Release date to be announced later.

I’d also like to remind you that there’s only 10 days left in the Love & Bubbles Kickstarter! Go take a look if you think you might enjoy an LGBTQA underwater anthology (short stories). We can use your support!

An Interview and a Date

You can find my interview for the Love & Bubbles Kickstarter campaign here! I’m talking about my story, Summoned; about what I would ask of a water demon and about gardening. And the gorgeous moodboard the Love & Bubbles team made for my story is visible there too!
