Bubbly Kickstarter!

The Kickstarter for Love & Bubbles has been launched!

Love & Bubbles is a collection of short stories of underwater romance. The characters range from classics like mermaids and selkies, to creative interpretations on the theme that take you to the Amazon river basin, alien water planets, and an ice-crusted lake.

We put out a call for love stories of all gender pairings and styles, and were surprised to discover the bulk of our submissions featured lesbian couples. Of the eleven base stories featured, eight feature relationships between queer women. We considered going ahead and focusing this anthology solely on queer women, but… I think you’ll agree the three stories featuring queer men and straight couples are well worth the uneven distribution of pairings!

This anthology contains my short story, Summoned, about a grumpy old merman who’s trying to express his feelings to the water demon living next door. There’s a pet catfish, much love for tea, and an aggressive plant.

Please check out this link for more information, and thank you so much if you consider supporting this project! You can help to make this awesome publication happen!

Beeld Express

In November 2016, I submitted a poem to a contest on Azertyfactor.be, a Dutch-speaking platform that offers opportunities and contests to writers. Although, in the past few years, I have grown more comfortable writing in English than in Dutch, now and then I like to return to where I started as a writer: my native language.
This particular challenge asked you to write a poem inspired by a photograph. Now some of you may know that I have a blog, Paranatellonta, inspired by Erin Morgenstern's Flax-Golden Tales. Every week, my friend Fie takes a picture, which inspires me to write a tiny story of 10 sentences. We have been doing this since August 2013 and so the Beeld Express challenge sounded right up my street.
I am proud to say that I won the contest and the result can be found on p. 22-23 of the magazine: click here to take a look!
