Does A Maximalist Case Have An Elevator Pitch Version?

In a prior article I wrote “Why I Prefer A Minimal Facts Approach Over A Maximalist One”, I said that one of the reasons The Minimal Facts Approach is my preferred approach is that I can expand it or contract it to be however long or short I need it to be. It’s very easy to give a brief case for the core facts needing to explain in about 5 minutes. I basically can give one criteria-of-authenticity argument for Jesus’ crucifixion, His empty tomb, the postmortem appearances to the disciples, and I...

The Minimal Facts Argument Is NOT Too Minimal – A Response To Erik Manning

Follower of this ministry will know that I am a proponent of The Minimal Facts Argument for The Resurrection of Jesus. I’ve studied this argument extensively since 2014; practically wearing out Habermas’ and Licona’s co-authored book “The Case For The Resurrection Of Jesus” because I kept studying it until I could get a perfect 100% score on the quiz that came with the interactive CD. I’ve gone on to read Michael Licona’s “The Resurrection Of Jesus: A New Historiographical Approach” and I’ve wat...

The Concept Of The Credentialed Layman

Given that I’m currently writing criticisms of McGrew’s anti-Minimal Facts stance, and given my recent revelation, it seemed good to me to write on a concept I’ve talked about in online discussions and with friends, but never put in writing; the concept of a Credentialed Layman. Whatever McGrew and I disagree on, one thing we both DO agree on is that you don’t necessarily need to have a degree in a field in order to be able to speak or write on a subject. Lydia’s Husband Tim put it quite well;

Saving The Minimal Facts Approach From Lydia McGrew (PART 2)

As the last part of this blog article’s title suggests, this is the second part in a two part series in which I respond to Dr. Lydia McGrew’s criticisms of The Minimal Facts Approach as a method of justifiably inferring the resurrection of Jesus. I have to say that I am even more disappointed with the level of argumentation in this one than I was in the previous one. The article I’ll be responding to is titled “When Minimal Is Minimalizing”. And I have hyperlinked it so the reader can read it fo...

Saving The Minimal Facts Approach From Lydia McGrew (PART 1)

There are videos of McGrew and Erik Manning criticizing the Minimal Facts approach, but I decided not to interact with those as responding to videos takes even more time than responding to written articles. This is do to having to transcribe verbally spoken words into text form when quoting snippets for the sake of critique. Fortunately, McGrew has not one, not two, but three articles on this subject. They can all be found at “What’s Wrong With The World”. In this article, I’ll be responding to ...

Is Jesus’ Resurrection Too Improbable? A Response To Bart Ehrman and David Hume.

Back in 2018, I wrote a blog post series defending the historicity of Jesus’ resurrection. The blog post series was about 12 parts long and consisted of defending The Minimal Facts Argument championed by scholars such as Gary Habermas and Michael Licona.

Here are the links to those articles;

“The Evidence For Jesus’ Resurrection – Part 1: Why This Matters”“The Evidence For Jesus’ Resurrection – Part 2: How To Do History” “The Evidence For Jesus’ Resurrection – Part 3: Fact (1) Je...

Controversy On Facebook, My Plans For The Future, and An Open Letter To Habermas and Licona

This may be one of the most transparent articles I’ve ever written. Recently, I made a post on the Cerebral Faith Facebook page. You can click here to see it. In the post, I admonished skeptical followers of the Facebook page or ministry to look into the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. I told them that they owed it to themselves to look into it. Although framed to general skeptics, I had one guy in mind who I’ve dialogued with for four years on just about everything; The Contingency Argu...

Response To Richard Averbeck’s Critiques Of “The Lost World Of Adam and Eve”

A while back, in preparing a video collaboration with my friend and fellow YouTuber, Zach Miller, I read some critics of the thesis of “The Lost World Of Genesis One” that I hadn’t read before. I drafted notes ahead of time and it ended up being more than notes! It ended up being an essay! So it seemed good to me to post these on the blog, especially since there’s a possibility I have some readers who may not be familiar with either mine or Zach’s channel. In this article, I’ll be responding to ...

Responding To Jacques B Doukhan’s Critique Of “Genesis 1 As Ancient Cosmology”

I am one of those who thinks that The Cosmic Temple Inaguration view of Genesis 1 is correct. This view of Genesis 1 is most commonly assosiated with Professor John Walton of Wheaton College. He has written both an academic level and a popular level book defending this view with the former being titled “Genesis 1 As Ancient Cosmology” and the latter being titled “The Lost World Of Genesis One”. Professor Walton maintains that we should read Genesis 1 as an ancient text. We should read it the way...
