Why You Should Believe In The Trinity: Responding To The WatchTower (Part 1)

Recently, I’ve begun engaging with Jehovah’s Witnesses who have come to my door. In the past, I’ve not been able to because of one reason or another. I’ve not been home when they came knocking, I was in the shower, or what have you. The fact that they didn’t come down my street often made the opportunities to evangelize JWs sparse, to begin with, but in those few times they did come, I just missed them. About a month ago, I finally got lucky. Two of them came to my door, an older woman and a you...

My Defend Talk “Making The Maximal Data Argument For Jesus’ Resurrection Attractive”

On January 2 2024 I gave my first ever talk at a Christian Apologetics conference at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The name of the talk was titled “Making The Maximal Data Argument For Jesus’ Resurrection Attractive”. I recounted the entire trip in a blog post here.

It took a while, but The Defend talks have finally been made available to the public. I’m considering putting my slides up along with the audio in iMovie or Windows Movie Maker (depending on whether I do it on my iPho...

In Defense Of The Chosen

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you may not know that there is a hugely popular show streaming right now called “The Chosen”. This show is produced by Angel Studios and is directed by Dallas Jenkins. It’s about the life of Christ and his apostles during Jesus’ three year ministry. Actor Jonathan Roumie portrays Jesus, and honestly, he has become my no. 1 favorite on-screen Jesus. In fact, I consider The Chosen to be THE best adaptation of the life of Christ ever made. ...

My Defend 2024 Trip

Back in May of 2023, Nick Peters of Deeper Waters ministries asked me if I would attend Defend 2024; a Christian Apologetics conference held at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I said that I would, that it sounded like fun, so I began saving up.

On January 1st, I left my home in Piedmont South Carolina and headed for the Atlanta airport. The reason I didn’t go to the Greenville Airport is that Greenville airlines typically just fly you to Atlanta and make you switch flights anyway. ...

Does Dualism Entail That People Don’t Really Die?

Substance Dualism is the view that humans are body/soul composites in contrast to physicalism which asserts that humans are merely physical entities through and through, and that when the body dies, it’s a cessation of consciousness and existence for the person who died. Unlike atheists, Christian physicalists believe that consciousness will be eventually be returned to people at the bodily resurrection [1]Most Christian physicalists are annihilationists, so they believe consciousness will be pe...

The Theseus Argument Against Christian Physicalism

One surprising thing I discovered when I became an annihilationist is how many of my fellow annihilationists are physicalists. Physicalism is an anthropological view that asserts that humans are purely physical through and through. There is no soul that dwells in the body that survives death. Christian Physicalists like my fellow conditionalists Chris Date and Brother Bird affirm the same anthropology as naturalistic atheists insofar that they affirm humans are purely physical entities rather th...

Why Progressive Christians Are Wrong To Pit Jesus Against Paul

If you’ve read books by Progressive Christians or argued with one on social media, you may have noticed that they have a tendency to pit the words of Jesus in the gospels against the words of Paul in the Pauline epistles. Let’s say the topic is homosexuality. You believe that God disapproves of same sex unions, so you quote Romans 1:26-27 which says “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the ...

In Defense Of The Divine Council Worldview – A Response To Marcia Montenegro

Dr. Michael S. Heiser was an Old Testament scholar who lived from February 14th, 1963 to February 20th, 2023. His book “The Unseen Realm: Recovering The Supernatural Worldview Of The Bible” radically rocked my world several years ago. He, along with Dr. John Walton of Wheaton College did more than just change my views on a few things, they did something far more valuable for me; they made the Old Testament interesting. Admittedly, for much of my Christian life, I saw The Old Testament as one lon...
