Abortion Debate Review: Things Left Unheard

I recently played back the recent debate I participated in on abortion, and I was quite disappointed with it seeing it from a second person point of view. For one thing, the pro-choicers repeatedly talked over me whenever I tried to speak. Now, I tried to resolve that issue by being more assertive and trying to talk over the people talking over me, but the problem with that was that no one could make out what I was saying. If I had used that red microphone that I bought to make my audiobook,...

Responding To The Double Payment Argument

The Double Payment Argument is that if God died for all people, yet sends some people to Hell, then that means that their sins were paid for twice, once in hell, and once by Christ on the cross. This, the Calvinist argues, entails that God has acted unjustly because God has punished sin more than the sin deserved. He punished it once and punished it twice. This argument is also sometimes referred to as "The Double Jeopardy Argument". The person who popularized this anti-Arminian argument was...

The Can/Won't Model Of Eternal Security: Part 3 - Conclusion

This is part 3 in a blog post series on the question "Can A Christian Lose Their Salvation?" In part 1 of this series, I made a powerful case from The Bible that the true believer has the ability to forsake Christ and "lose" his salvation. In part 2, I made a powerful case from The Bible that no true Christian will ever forsake Christ and "lose" His salvation.

The Bible seems to affirm two mutually exclusive positions. How is this possible? Does The Bible contradict itself? Does it teach that...

The Can/Won't Model Of Eternal Security: Part 2 - The Case For OSAS

This is part 2 in a series on apostasy and eternal security. In the previous blog post, I explained that I had wrestled with the question "Can A Christian Lose Their Salvation?" for many, many years. I was torn on the issue because both sides seemed to present such overwhelmingly powerful cases for their position. It got so bad that I started to think the scripture might possibly contradict itself on the issue. However, I eventually came to a conclusion that I find intellectually satisfying a...

The Can/Won't Model Of Eternal Security: Part 1 -- The Case For Apostasy

Can a Christian lose their salvation? This is a question that I did not know how to answer for many, many years. I would listen to Arminians argue back and forth, using scripture passages supporting their own view. I thought both sides made really compelling cases for their positions, so I was in a state of agnosticism about it for a long time. On the one hand, The Bible seemed to be filled up to the brim with passages warning believers not to fall away, but on the other hand, there were many...

Does Being A Christian Suck?

I recently read a comment online from someone asking if being a Christian sucked. The various comments in the comment section were of Christians telling this person how being a Christian did not suck and why they felt that way. The original poster never actually explained in the comment section why he even had a suspicion that being a Christian might suck. The whole thread were Christians giving their answers. Still, that question on that Facebook thread stuck in my mind.

I have said in a...

If Science Can Be Done, Then God Exists

In my book Inference To The One True God, and in my blog posts "The Kalam Cosmological Argument," "The Fine Tuning Argument For God's Existence (Updated Version)", and in "The Fine Tuning Of The Earth and Universe", I show how science points to God via the origin of the universe and the fine tuning of the universe. I provided syllogisms and defended the premises to establish the conclusion that a transcended Creator matching the biblical description of God brought our world into being an...

Why Peter Enns' Thoughts On Apologetics Are Fallacious

Recently Peter Enns, an American Biblical Scholar and theologian, and Senior Fellow of BioLogos, wrote an article on his thoughts about Christian Apologetics. The article can be read by clicking here. I appreciate Enns' works in theology and have read many of his blog posts on www.biologos.org. I also plan on reading some of his books in the future. I'm especially eager to dig into The Evolution of Adam: What the Bible Does and Doesn't Say about Human Origins. and Inspiration and In...

The Bible: Simple Enough For A Child, Profound Enough For The Scholar

I recently watched a debate between my friend Zachary Lawson and Kent Hovind. The topic was on "Is Evolution Compatible With The Bible?" I was excited for this debate as creation and evolution is one of the theological subjects I'm heavily interested in. I was on Zach's side, as anyone who's been following this blog will know. They talked about (1) The Genealogies, (2) Jesus' view on creation (focusing on Mark 10:6), (3) Exegesis of Exodus 20:11, and (4) Animal Death before the fall.

One...
