5 Arguments For The Existence Of Free Will

Free Will is a topic debated among Christians and even some non-Christians. The Christians who affirm that men have free will in the libertarian sense are Arminians, Molinists, and Open Theists. Christians who deny free will in the libertarian sense generally fall into the Calvinist camp. I have argued elsewhere that libertarian free will is the only true kind of free will that there is. Compatibilism, despite what the name suggests, doesn't reconcile free will and determinism. Compatibilism,...

Q and A: The Revival Of Euthyphro's Delimma?

The usual answer to the Euthyphro Dilemma is that God’s various characteristics or traits are what makes him the paradigm of goodness. God is supposed to be essentially loving, kind, forgiving, etc. But if that’s the case, the Euthyphro Dilemma just reappears. Are those characteristics good because God has them, or does God have them because they’re good?

5 Reasons Christian Apologists Shouldn't Fixate On Evolution

Evolution, the theory that all life emerged from a branching "evolutionary tree" with a single celled organism being the species that started the whole process 3.5 billion years ago, is frequently the subject of heated debate between Christians and Non-Christians. Young Earth Creationists like Ken Ham, Old Earth Creationists like Hugh Ross, and Intelligent Design proponents like Stephen Meyer and William Dembski frequently attack Darwin's theory in their defense of the Christian faith. But is...

I Haven't Met My Wife, But I Already Know I Love Her

I am not currently dating anyone and I have never been married, yet I already know that the I love my future wife very, very much. "How can that possibly be?" you might ask, "How can you love someone you don't even know." It's true that I haven't met my wife yet. I don't know what she looks like, what her name is, what her likes and dislikes are, where she's from, or anything else about her. So how can I love her? The answer is simple: because love is a choice and not a feeling. If love is a...

Q&A: Responding To Arguments Against Eternal Security

Hello Evan,

I came across your series of 3 posts regarding your model of eternal security. Unfortunately, I don't have a google account (nor do I wish to) so I cannot respond directly via your blog comment section. I understand you do not reply directly to email questions either so I guess that leaves us at an impasse since this is a one-time comment. Even if you were to address my question/comment in another subsequent post, I would not be able to offer a reply. Nonetheless, given the import...

A Biblical Argument For Transsexuality?

I normally avoid talking about this issue, just simply because I think there are issues of greater importance to write about. However, recently,  a Facebook friend sent me a link to a blog post in a direct message arguing from The Bible the legitimacy of the gender fluidity movement and he asked me to write up a response to it, so I said that I would. When I started reading the article, I was quite taken aback. I had never even heard of anyone trying to argue from scripture that a m...

Why The Grounding Objection Doesn't Bother Me

Molinism teaches that God has 3 logical moments of knowledge: Natural Knowledge, Middle Knowledge, and Free Knowledge. His natural knowledge is His knowledge of everything that could happen, and everything that everyone could do. Basically, Natural Knowledge is God's knowledge of everything that is possible and necessary. God's middle knowledge is His knowledge of what any creature would freely do under any given circumstance, and what would occur if certain factors are in play...

Solar Eclipses and God

A few hours ago, I witnessed one of the most awesome events in my lifetime: A total eclipse of the sun! For two and a half minutes, the moon completely covered the sun. People all over the United States of America had their special sunglasses, cereal box pinhole thingies, or other viewing devices so that they could safely witness the eclipse without going blind. I, unfortunately, did not have anything to with which to view the eclipse, so I tried “The Selfie Method”, which is viewing the ecli...

5 Possible Reasons Your Prayers Haven't Been Answered

All Christians pray to God. Prayer is not just something we do to get something out of God. Prayer is a time we spend in fellowship with God. However, petitions (asking God to do things) is only one type of prayer we Christians pray. The Bible says "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6) And often times, God answers our pleas and does what we ask of Him. For example, one of the Psalm...

Q & A: On Getting People To Crucify The Christ

Hi, do you think God wanted the Romans to actually kill Jesus to make a sacrifice for us, or Christ's death is contingent and God just used it to atone for our sins? God didn't want to accept them. He wanted the Romans to kill Him, so He wanted them to sin.

-- Eli

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a very thought provoking question, Eli! The Bible teaches that God had planned the crucifixion of Christ before the world was even created. This is wh...
