Q&A: On Other Creatures That Are Fictional

Hello Evan!
I wanted to ask your help on something. I got on a debate with a relative about the case of the resurrection. She keeps on responding to me that “claims are not evidence” like that atheist on YT (I don’t recall his name sadly). She keeps insisting that if we believe the claims made in the Bible, why shouldn’t we believe claims of aliens or the flying spaghetti monster or some other fictional monster? She thinks...

Q&A: Several Questions about GodWorld, Molinism, and Divine Deception

Hello Mr. Evan, thank you for answering my email last time.

I’m here to update you regarding my friend. I had my friend read your post. It took her some time to reply back to me so I wasn’t able to get back to you immediately. Today she finally replied to me via Messenger and it seems she has some more questions for you.

I will paste below what she sent to me.

Hi, sir Evan. thank you for your insight about what me and S...

Q&A: The Ontological Argument and Possible Worlds With Nothing In Them

Hello Mr. Minton!
I’m new to your site and your blog posts have been very inspiring and helpful to me! I recently entered college. As you know, it is a place where we Christians meet a lot of people who don’t share our beliefs. I wanted to ask you a question about something a fellow student said to me regarding the ontological argument. I am not an expert at it but I do get the gist of the ontological argument.

How should ...

Q&A: Could God Be Playing Us For A Fool?

Hi, I’m a Christian who’s been having….philosophical shower thoughts, let’s just say. These thoughts I’ve been getting have made me doubt my faith and I need help.So I’ve been thinking…what if God is playing us all for fools? What if, despite all He’s said in His Word, He’s actually the OPPOSITE of what He said? What if, He lied about never lying, and everything is a lie? What if He KNOWS objective mortality, good and bad...

Q&A: Are Having Depression and Anxiety Sins?

Hi Mr. Evan.
I heard about you from a friend of mine and she said you were accepting questions. I have a question for you.

One time years ago, I heard a pastor’s sermon about depression and anxiety. I was surprised when he said that being depressed and having anxiety is a sin. He said that a depressed person does not trust in God’s promise, that’s why he/she is depressed. And having anxiety means a person is disregarding J...

BOOK REVIEW: “Chronicles Of The Nephilim” by Brian Godawa

The Chronicles Of The Nephilim are a series of novels, so rather than review one at a time, I thought I would include the reviews to all 8 novels in this one single blog post. None of the reviews are very long, so it makes even more sense to combine them all. These reviews are the ones I wrote on GoodReads and copy/pasted from GoodReads.

1: Noah Primeval

Awesome!

I really enjoyed this novel by Brian Godawa. I started wit...

Q&A: A World With Only God?

Hello again Mr. Evan,

I know it’s probably unusual to have you settle an argument like this but I really need your help. My friend and I had an argument on the existence of God. I appealed to her that God does exist by explaining the Ontological Argument and that good and evil could exist without contradiction. When questioned about why God would allow evil in the first place, I answered it might give way to a grea...

Q&A: Denis Asks A Question About The Kalam Regarding Causality and Time

I’d appreciate your comments.

1.     Whatever begins to exist has a cause;

2.     The universe began to exist;

Therefore:

3.     The universe has a cause.

The first premise, “Whatever begins to exist has a cause” is deduced from our observations of cause and effect within the universe, and the fact that cause must precede effect.

The cause of the universe beginning to exist had to prec...

Should We Not Use ANE Creation Texts To Understand Genesis?

Recently, I encountered an objection to The Cosmic Temple Inauguration interpretation of Genesis that I defend in my paper “Genesis 1: Functional Interpretation, Temple Inauguration, and Anti-Pagan Polemics” as well as in various blog posts on this site. It was in a Facebook discussion. She said

“The Creation account in Genesis should not be read as an ANE Temple Text because the Bible itself forbids such a reading.

BOOK REVIEW “Answers To Giant Questions” by T.J. Steadman

Answers To Giant Question is an excellent work in biblical scholarship. If you’re a theology nerd like me who has a particular interest in the Nephilim or The Bible’s primeval history, you should read this book. In the first section of the book, Steadmann argues that the Nephilim are the giant offspring of angels and humans having sexual relations. He proves this from the biblical text and shows how the non-supernatural interpretations...
