Marching Forward: Cover Reveal!
I hope this March finds you well. For me, this has been a hard winter. Spiking case numbers and much colder temps than usual in my neck of the woods have led it to feel much more closed in, and the cabin fever has been strong. Normally, we’d get a reprieve with a random 70 degree day here and there, but we were just hanging out with snow and ice and temps in the teens for weeks… Or at least it felt that way.
I’m eager for spring and the equinox to arrive. So… of course we’re hearing they’ll ...

Some Spooky Reads & Candy To Go With Them
Hope everyone is having a wonderful October! We were delighted today to hear of the FDA vaccine approval for kids 5-11, so we will definitely be downing some chocolate and peanut butter confections in celebration tonight. 🙂
I promised a snippet from Clanblades… And here it is. Slow but steady wins the race…
Zama slumped down at his scrying area as soon as Unira had swept away toward her son’s room and breathed a sigh of relief. The mirror reflected his image, for now, and he stared at th...

September Stirrings
Since it’s technically not autumn in the Northern Hemisphere yet, and the leaves haven’t started to change here, you will be spared the autumnal celebrating gifs, memes, and long paragraphs of enthusing.
This time.
But be warned.
Fall is coming.

Songs of Summer
Summer is always a weird time, both slow and fast, full of delights coupled with annoyances. Fireflies and mosquitos, sunny days and sunburn.
Summer in my neck of the woods is often pretty rainy, but we’ve had a surprising bout of gorgeous weather. That hasn’t been the best for our COVID cases, but my plants are sure happy.
My books aren’t too sad about it either, as they’re growing pretty fast these days too.
Blame Vitamin D, or my love of air conditioning. Or maybe thank them.

On Books and Brains and Creativity and Schedules
The last month or so I’ve fallen deep into the writing, trying hard to connect the circuit on these books… Mostly I’ve just caused a few sparks here and there. Maybe germinating a seed into a lovely plant would be a better metaphor. (I’ve been doing a lot of that too.
Yes, I said books. As in, more than one.

Audacity Saga 4, which I was hoping would be the final volume, has grown large enough to split itself in two! I haven’t figured out what exactly I can do for the covers yet, thou...

A Snippet That Escaped
Hope you’ve had a great New Year so far! Or as much as you can in these tumultuous times. My year so far has been weird, but productive. Lots of words written, cups of coffee consumed, and problems for my characters imagined.
Oh, and also some playing in the snow with the kiddos. And playing D&D with great friends.
Today I’ve got a somewhat silly progress update for you and a cut snippet from Audacity 4 for your enjoyment.
Blade of the Moon (Clanblades #2)Here’s a really, really hi...

Regularly giving to charities is a part of my year, even if I can only chip in a small way, but Giving Tuesday isn’t a bad reminder to be intentional and are supporting causes that are important to you!
Here’s a few of my favorites, especially those related to books!
Support your local library

Donate financially, or donate used books when the library is having a book sale! (Most libraries don’t put used books on the shelve...

Free Fiction: Cat & Mouse
There’s nothing like the atmosphere of a fall festival, something some of us are missing quite a bit right now. Even the festivals that are happening aren’t the same.
Last year I wrote this slightly silly story that takes place at a fall festival, completely taking the experience for granted. But if right now you could use the distraction, or a brief trip to a fall festival somewhere not so far away… this free-wheeling story is for you. We’ll be there again someday, friends. Hang in there.

A Very Thorney Halloween
No seriously, I’m just not that into horror. The real world is enough right now.
But I *am* into all that is fantastical, creative, offbeat, funny, and colorful.
