October Joys

Welcome, friends, and welcome, Fall! I’m so excited autumn has finally arrived in my stomping ground.

Here’s what I’ve been up to since late summer… It’s been a busy time!

Paperbacks and Hardbacks!

I’ve got new formats available for both sci-fi and fantasy books. In particular, OATH OF DUTY, SONGBIRD RISING, and BLADE OF THE MOON are now available in paperback and case-laminate hardcover.

Note that the case laminate style is a new, different style than what I’ve had in the past. I...

Blade of the Moon, Now Available!

I’m pleased to announce the second book in the Legends of the Clanblades series is finally here! Happy book birthday, Blade of the Moon !Animated gif of a person with long hair cheering and picking up a cake and throwing it on the ground

So far it has a 4.9 star rating, and it reached #65 in Coming of Age Fantasy New Releases and #16 in Asian Fantasy New Releases! So I’m happy to see some folks are enjoying this story.

If you’re liking the story as much as this zebra, or even if you’re not and you hate it, leave me a review! It helps the book get found and helps other readers know if...

May Machinations

I’m busy getting BLADE OF THE MOON ready for your hungry little Kindles and your ravenously empty bookshelves. (Heh, I doubt that, if your shelves are anything like mine, they are somewhere between bowing and overflowing.)

Anyway, I have what feels like millions of edits to go before I can rest, but I also want to share some with you, so you can get as excited as I am for you to read this book! Here’s a quick little snippet.

This is a glimpse into a character’s mind that we haven’t seen b...

Legends of the Clanblades Cover Reveal!

It’s feeling quite a bit like spring in Pennsylvania these days. The daffodils look like they’re about to bloom any second now! And with spring comes new things… like new books!

I’m excited to reveal the cover for the next book the Legends of the Clanblades series…

BLADE OF THE MOON.

This series has been long delayed, and I’m so excited to continue it and see what you think of what comes next for Lara and Nyalin, and some of the other characters from DAGGER OF BONE.

More detai...

Midwinter Happenings

I took a bit of a break from updates over the holidays, but I am back. Back again. Guess who’s back… I’ll stop.

It’s feeling a lot like spring here, which is a lie. The worst of winter has yet to come. But I’m falling for the illusion mostly. Daffodils are breaking ground, and it’s been warm and muddy…

Speed Update

A stomach flu also delayed my sharing of updates in January, but here’s the current goings-on.

Gratitude and a Glimpse

Have you heard my latest book is out? Here’s what some folks are saying!

“Wow! Incredible conclusion to a fantastic series. There are heartbreaking moments and heartwarming moments, a very high body count, loyalty, betrayal, honor, laughter, and tears.

“An action packed ending to a good series. This final episode also felt like a complete story in itself.”

You can check out the book page for more information on OATH OF DUTY.

My duty, soon to be yours

Just a quick update today. I’m busy editing Oath of Duty and chomping at the bit to turn my full attention to Clanblades Book 2.

(Tangent: It’s really easy to accidentally call this book OAT OF DUTY. Which sounds yummy but far less dramatic.)

After this puppy is running free, I hope to get more retrospective on the series and all that inspired it, as well as eventually release the digital boxed set, but for now, I’m busy recovering from the last round of edits, so I’m ready to sprint acro...

Five books, five years

It’s been brutal, but OATH OF DUTY is out of writing and into beta reads and edits! HUZZAH!

But don’t worry. I’m doing fine! Totally fine.

This is running late, though, sadly. I’m going to try my best, but the timing of the preorder will likely be delayed a month or two. Possibly more, depending on editor availability. Cross your fingers for me!

Where does the time go? How is it August? How has it been five years since I started this trip with these crazy kids…

The Audacity Saga...

A snip and a snap

This month I was busy with the Nebulas, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America conference, and also writing, so not too much to report. I do have a snippet from Clanblades, so be sure to scroll down if you’re into that sort of thing!

The Nebulas are a wonderful conference where the Nebula awards are announced, and there are craft discussions and meetups for authors, as well as fun and educational panels. I moderated one on paths to success as an independent author, and it was a to...

Spaceships and Horses

Spaceships and horses… Two of my favorite things.

No, seriously.

Whenever I write sci-fi for too long, I start thinking about a number of things that draw me back to fantasy. One of them is the woods. The forest. It’s my favored terrain, I guess. Yes, that’s a Dungeons & Dragons joke.

Another is horses. I don’t even have any horses in my life right now, but somehow I still manage to think about them a lot. I don’t know what it is about those beautiful, majestic creatures, but sometim...
