Iron Princess

He’s a mystery. An enigma.

His very identity is a secret buried beneath layers of deception.

He’s also an addiction I can’t shake. An attraction I can’t fight.

And then I found out exactly who he is—a man more dangerous than the devil himself.

Now I need him in order to save everything that matters to me.

I have to pull back. Protect myself from the danger that haunts his every step.

Which would be easy . . . if I could stop myself from falling in love with him.

If you’re interested in Iron Princess, you shouldn’t miss Savage Prince. The rest of the books in the series:

Who knew things could get even darker and dirtier in New Orleans? New York Times bestselling author Meghan March introduces the Savage Prince of the city, the man you never want to meet.

I do what I want and who I want. I don’t follow anyone’s rules—even my own.

I knew I shouldn’t touch her, but it didn’t stop me.

Didn’t stop me the second time either. Only made me want a third.

My lifestyle suits the savage I am, and she doesn’t.

But Temperance Ransom is my newest addiction, and I’m nowhere near ready to quit her yet.

I’ll have her my way, even if it means dragging her into the darkness.

Hopefully it doesn’t kill us both.

Savage Prince is book one of the Savage Trilogy, set in the same world as Ruthless King, however you do not need to read the Mount Trilogy to devour this scandalously hot new story.

Unthinkable. Unbelievable. Inconceivable.

I don’t recognize what my life has become. I can’t tell where the lies end and the truth begins anymore.

He came into my world and urged me out of my safe little corner.

All my dreams are coming true except the one thing I want most— my own happy ending.

But I’ll fight for it.

For now.

For always.

Mia West is drawn to Cole Parker and she doesn’t know why but each time he is around, she can’t stop the pull, drawing her into dark secrets and closer to her past. Will she put the pieces of her life back together or just end up in his bed?

When she meets Jack, it’s clear he wants Mia as his own but knows that to keep her means he has to keep her away from Cole. She wants to feel the spark with Jack but something keeps holding her back. Is it Cole or is there more to Jack than meets the eye?

When her past and present intersect, both men will give her reasons to run, the question is…whose arms will she run into.

Come Back to Me is the first book in the Forever series duet. The finale, Forever with Me, releases in June.

Excerpt

“You have a little bit… right, here.” He uses his thumb to brush a spot of chocolate sauce from my lips. The heat from his thumb on my mouth spreads through my body and right to my center. Before I can help myself, the tip of my tongue licks the pad of his thumb. It happens so fast, but it’s as if we are suspended in time. I watch his eyes, suddenly nervous and yet not at all, and a low growl emerges from the back of his throat. He pulls away quickly, not wanting to call attention to us. All I can think of is that I want to suck on that thumb, just as a preview of what else I can do to him!

Chaser, My Review

Hello, everyone!

I’m so very happy this day finally came. So many great books to talk about this week. But, when I heard that Kylie Scott had another book I could review I lost no time writing my name down. I LOVED her YA romance Trust. I seriously felt as if the book was written about someone like me in her teens. It’s a really good book! My boy here, Chaser… wow! I really really enjoyed it. And I was surprised that the book is told solely from his POV. Scroll down to read my review of Chaser by Kylie Scott.

Chaser

Chaser (1)Given his well-earned bad boy reputation, Eric is having a tough time scoring. When single Jean moves to town, she seems heaven sent by the sex gods. Only problem is, she not only wants nothing to do with him, but it turns out that she’s pregnant.

Starting over in a small town, Jean is determined to turn her wild lifestyle around and be the kind of mother she always wished she’d had. Since local bar owner and all round hottie, Eric Collins, is now determined to steer clear of her pregnant self, it should be easy. When she goes into labour during a snow storm and her car slides on some ice, it’s Eric who comes to the rescue.

There seems to be a bond between them now, but is it enough? And can Eric give up his manwhore ways to be the man Jean needs?

Excerpt

I’d been tricked. Betrayed.

After Andre and Jean ate their lunch, we headed outside to deal with her stuff. The cold wind suited my mood to perfection.

Talk about disappointed.

“Don’t lift that, it looks heavy,” I snapped.

Jean blinked. “It’s a pillow.”

“The world’s largest pillow ever. You can’t be too careful.” My gaze roamed over her swollen middle. “You’re . . .”

“Pregnant?” she asked with a voice dripping poison and sugar.

“Are you having trouble with the concept?”

“Absolutely not. I was just going to say huge, that’s all.”

She blew out an exasperated breath. “Thanks, Eric. That makes me feel so much better.”

“I just . . .”

“Don’t bother.” The woman turned back to her sensible, medium-sized SUV and got busy riffling through the contents. I was surprised she’d been able to squeeze into the driver’s seat.

Boxes and stuff took up almost every inch inside the vehicle. Each and every box seemed to have been neatly labeled with the contents.

The woman took her organization seriously. She looked over her shoulder. “You know, I can’t help noticing that Eric-the-smooth-moving-flirt has been suddenly replaced by Eric-the-awkward-jerk.”

“Well, you said you were single.” I folded my arms defensively across my chest.

“I am.”

And then there was an awkward silence.

“Yeah, but . . . I mean, in your condition . . .” I fumbled to a halt.

She turned, face all scrunched up. Like I was the one with the problem.

“Just hop out of the way so I can grab some boxes,” I said, voice gruff.

Still nothing from her. “It’s a second-story walk-up and you have a lot of stuff to get up there. You should be taking it easy.” Hands on hips, I tapped my black leather boot against the sidewalk, waiting her out. “Jean, I’m not trying to insult you. It’s the truth.”

She swore quietly, going back to fussing with the contents in the vehicle. I don’t think any woman has ever given me the silent treatment quite this quickly. Usually I’m good for at least a couple of hours after seeing them naked.

Man, I still couldn’t believe this was happening. God hated me or something. Pregnant women and me were enema. Anathema. Whatever. Now that I’d seen her out in the autumn light, however, she looked younger than I’d first guessed. Despite her tired eyes, her skin was smooth, soft looking. She was likely closer to her early twenties than mid.

“How old are you?” I asked.

“Why do you care?”

I shrugged one shoulder. “Just curious.”

“How old are you?”

“Nearly thirty.”

She sniffed. “I’m twenty-two.”

Young, like I’d thought. She was probably too immature for me, anyway.

“Come on, Jean. Let me get some of the boxes.”

Boyd ambled out of the Dive Bar, turning his head this way and that, looking up and down the street. I raised my hand and he started over in our direction. The big cook would make short work out of moving all this stuff. Behind us, Andre and Nell came out of the tenants’ entrance to the Bird Building. The place was a big brick building about a hundred years old. Just past the door was an entryway with stairs leading up to the second floor, followed by two empty shops, their windows covered in flyers about local events. Concerts and parades and shit. They’d been vacant for a while, unfortunately. Andre’s Guitar Den came next, then Pat’s tattoo parlor Inkaho, and the Dive Bar on the corner.

“Everything’s good to go. Alex and I gave it a cleaning last week just to be sure,” said Nell, smacking a kiss on Jean’s cheek.

“You’ll meet Alex later. She’s probably busy working or something now. She’s sort of a shut-in.”

“You two didn’t have to do that,” said Jean. “Thank you.”

“Anytime.”

Andre leaned against the SUV. “Your furniture got delivered yesterday too, so it’s all good to go.”

“Excellent,” said Jean. “I can’t wait to sleep in a decent bed again. Road trips when you’re seven months’ pregnant kind of suck.”

“I bet.”

“Who’s minding the kitchen?” I asked.

“Lydia will text Boyd if they need something,” said Nell.

“We’re only going to be a few feet away from the place.”

I frowned.

“I own the kitchen, Eric. Not you,” she said. “You’re in charge of the bar, that’s all.”

One of Jean’s eyebrows inched up slightly. So I might have implied that I was the sole owner. Shit happened.

I crossed my arms. “Fine. No need to bite my head off.”

“My best online friend just moved to town. We’ve been texting and skyping for months. She’s been an absolute rock for me through all the nerves of being pregnant again,” said Nell. “Stop messing with my happy.”

And then there was an awkward silence. Great. If only there was some way to get out of helping without looking like a raging asshole. The possibility of anything happening between me and Jean had been buried six feet deep, never to be spoken of again.

My Review

Chaser was nothing I expected. I’ve been nicely surprised by Kylie’s writing style before, so I wasn’t expecting anything else. But I didn’t know when I agreed to read the book (very bad from me) that it was told from his POV, and no one elses. It was a very nice surprise and my first book from the male POV. And let me tell you what I though of it:

I was always up front with things being about a good time, not a long time.

Erik is a fun guy to be around. He’s sexy as hell, he has a wonderful sense of humor and yumminess just emanates from him… basically, he’s a total babe. It’s no wonder is a total manwhore, and he knows it. He believes he’s upfront about it and never disappoints the ladies. But lately he find’s himself in a moment in life in which he starts questioning if how he’s decided to live is the right way to do it.

But for lots of really good reasons, me and babies didn’t mix.

Even if Erik is considering settling down and leave all the one night stands behind, there’s something he would never consider… babies. Babies were totally out of his comfort zone. Once upon a time he could’ve been a father, but ultimately it didn’t happen. So having a steady girlfriend, have a committed relationship, growing up (in a way) was something he was willing to do… having a family was a whole other matter. That was, until he met Jane.

“Don’t take this the wrong way, but I never even wanted to have kids. Never wanted to be a father. Children only get in the way, tie you down, and they’re expensive as all hell. Not really my style.”

One afternoon Jane entered the bar Erik co-owns with his best friends, and completely blows him away. The moment he sees her, he know that she’s the woman of his dreams. He starts planning dates, meeting the parents, living together, … the whole nine yards until he realizes that she’s pregnant. Erik didn’t see that coming, and even if he know that staying away from her is the best for both of them, he keeps being attracted to Jane in one way or another. And I was glad it did, because they’re a wonderful pair together.

The truth being that her whole existence worked for me. Jean breathing and moving and being herself was beautiful in every way.

There’s a lot of struggle from Erik’s part in surrendering for the feelings he has for Jane. Those were the moments I wished I could read what she was thinking and understand what was going through her head. The author did a wonderful job by depicting everything that was happening, but me being me, I wish I could know her side of the story. There are several times that I wanted to slap Erik and make him get his act together, and I couldn’t be happier about the HEA.

“Please don’t have a change of mind. I’m willing to beg if that would help at all.”

This is a very interesting romance. Seeing how Erik had to give his feelings a chance and put his worries and concerns about commitment somewhere productive (and not allow them to hurt his relationship with Jane). I loved to see how he grew up (and a pair) and finally accepted that there was no other ending than having Jane, and her baby, in his life. There’s also some unexpected twists that add to the story. It is definitely a series you can’t miss. I know I want to read the rest.

From #1 NYT bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a sexy new standalone romance!

I couldn’t have scripted a more perfect night.

For one fantastic evening, at a masquerade party in the heart of Manhattan, I’m not the millionaire everyone wants a piece of. Fine—multimillionaire. But who’s counting all those commas? Not me, and not the most intriguing woman I’ve ever met, who happens to like dancing, witty banter, and hot, passionate up-against-the-wall sex as much as I do.

There’s no need for names or business cards. And that’s why I’m eager to get to know her more, since my mystery woman seems to like me for me, rather than for my huge…bank account.

Everything’s coming up aces. Until the next day when things get a little complicated. (Newsflash — a lot complicated.)

***

He’s charming, brilliant, an incredible lover, and right now I want to stab fate in the eyeballs.

I’ve had one goal I’ve been working toward, and lo and behold, my mystery man is the very person who stands between me and my dream job. A job I desperately need since my hard-knock life has nothing in common with his star-kissed one.

But it’s time to put that fairytale night behind me, and focus on learning what makes him tick. Too bad it turns out his quirks are my quirks, and his love affair with New York matches mine.

And as we spend our days together, I discover something else that feels like a cruel twist of fate — I’m falling for this naughty prince charming, and that’s not an ending I can write to our story.

EXCERPT

~FLYNN~

I part my lips to speak, to tell her I’m not a VC. But I flash back to the racquetball game, to the face-lift suggestion from my sister. If this angel thinks I’m a VC, that means my face-lift is working. My costume is doing what I want it to do—it’s making it possible for me to be me. To have a conversation as Flynn Parker the guy, not as Flynn Parker the multimillionaire.

She doesn’t know who I am. And I don’t correct her. “It can be.”

She nods thoughtfully then roams her gaze over my black attire. She taps her bottom lip. “Hmm. Let’s see what we have here tonight because I don’t think you’re a ninja.”

I punch the air. “Keep going.”

She studies me more closely. “You’re something mysterious. You’re trying to fly under the radar. Am I getting warmer?”

More like hot. “Yes.”

Her brow knits. “You want to go unnoticed, at least for the moment.”

I tense, hoping she’s not putting two and two together as to my identity. Absently, I raise my hand to my glasses, wondering if they give me away. But then I remember. I’m wearing my contacts tonight, something I rarely do.

She snaps her fingers. “I know! You’re a stealth start-up,” she says, using the term for a new company that’s keeping quiet.

I raise my arms in victory, a thrill racing through me. “Everyone else has guessed code ninja or SEO ninja, but you’re the first person all night to get it right. I am, indeed, a stealth start-up.”

Admittedly, donning black pants, a black shirt, and a black eye-mask might have made it challenging to guess. But then again, the angel figured it out, and all without the missing start-up button.

“Your lips gave you away.”

She recognized me from my lips? I furrow my brow behind my mask. “What do you mean?”

“Your mouth,” she says, raising her fingers dangerously near to my lips. “I could tell you weren’t a ninja because your lips aren’t covered. Ninjas cover you’re their mouths.” I relax again since she was referring to my clothes. “Only their eyes show. But you’ve covered most of your eyes, and you’re showing only your mouth and your chin. That’s how I knew you had to be something other than a ninja.”

“I could kiss you for that,” I blurt out. I take a step back and hold up a hand. “I’m sorry. That was probably terribly inappropriate.”

A smile slowly spreads across her lips. “No, it wasn’t inappropriate. It wasn’t inappropriate at all,” she says. Something in the way she takes her time with each word tells me she wouldn’t mind being kissed. That gives me one mission and one mission only: keep talking to this angel.

“Blakely has whipped up an irresistible romance as sexy and witty as the nerd protagonists she details in Come as You Are. Their chemistry snaps, crackles, and pops off the pages. ” – TJ Loves To Read

Excerpt:

“All done.” I found Gia in the yard sunbathing. Of course, she had to be lying on her stomach so I could get a closer look at her ass. It was fucking phenomenal. Like a chubby, upside-down heart from where I stood. I’d spent the last hour pretend fixing her car and picturing her riding me reverse cowgirl, those ass cheeks jiggling like fucking Jell-O while she rode me hard. I had to force my eyes to her face and clear my throat to continue. “Here are your keys. Your rotors were shot, too. In the future, don’t ride on bad brakes. It just turns a little problem into a big one.”

She shielded her eyes from the sun and twisted her neck to look up at me, still not flipping over to her stomach. “Oh. Okay. Thanks. Can I make you some lunch? It’s the least I can do to repay you for hours of working on my car.”

Is that ass on the menu?

“No. I have to get going.”

She lifted from flat on her stomach to on her knees in a yoga-like pose, taking her sweet ass time before turning over.

“Are you sure?” She bit her bottom lip. “You’ve had to have worked up an appetite.”

Is she fucking with me? I had an appetite alright. “I gotta run.”

I sounded like a broken record, yet here I still stood. My head wanted to get the fuck out of that yard, but my traitorous feet wouldn’t move. Not even when she stood up, turned around and practically rubbed her ass against me as she held up suntan lotion. “Could you rub some sunscreen on my back before you go? I don’t want to burn.”

No. “Sure.”

“Thanks.”

I took the sunscreen and squeezed a glob of creamy white lotion into the palm of my hand. Swallowing hard, I began to rub it into her back. Her shoulders were warm and soft with the tiniest little layer of fuzz on it. It reminded me of a peach. My mouth salivated at the thought of biting into her.

“Could you do a little lower?”

My breathing became labored and my cock swelled as I lowered my hands and rubbed into the middle of her back. I was breaching into dangerous territory.

“Lower” she said. I knew from her breathy voice that I wasn’t the only one aroused.

I lowered to just above her bathing suit bottom and rubbed lotion all over.

When I finished, she turned her head so I could see the side of her face and closed her eyes to whisper, “lower.”

Fuck me.

I couldn’t stop myself. I reached for the creamy sunscreen and squeezed enough into my hand to cover a large person’s full body and then began to rub it into her ass cheeks. She had the most unique heart-shaped mole on her left side that was perfectly symmetrical. I ran my fingertips over it. When I trailed a pool of lotion to the top of her ass crack, and slowly rubbed it in tracing the material of her bathing suit in between her cheeks, she let out a low moan.

More. Make more sounds like that.

Can’t Stand The Heat, My Review

Can’t Stand the Heat
by Peggy Jaeger

GENRE

Contemporary Romance

BLURB

With three successful TV series under her belt, including her cousin Kandy’s, executive producer Stacy Peters is ready to helm her own show. But to make that happen, she has to do her network boss one favor first—spend two months on a ranch in Montana wrangling the notoriously difficult director of Beef Battles. Apparently, he eats producers for breakfast. Yet all Stacy can think when she meets the lean, rugged man is how hungry he makes her . . .

Dominic Stamp—Nikko to his very few friends—has had enough interference from TV newbies. And when Stacy climbs out of the car in Montana, he’s not convinced she’s even old enough to drive, much less produce his show. But he can’t deny that the long-legged blonde with the stubborn will and the dazzling smile whets his appetite. And as Stacy proves her talent with the crew and the budget alike, Nikko vows to prove to her that love is on the menu for both of them . . .

EXCERPT

This couldn’t be the new executive producer.

She looked like an intern, barely out of college, not the seasoned television producer Teddy Davis had emailed him about.

The one he’d emailed back saying he neither wanted nor needed.

Hair the color of champagne fell just below her shoulders in a soft cascade of waves and ripples. Even in the heat and humidity engulfing them it looked fresh. Her face was a perfect heart, a tiny dip in the center of the hairline bifurcating her brow into two perfectly aligned sections, her flawless chin falling into a delicate point. She had one hand out to shake his, the other shading her eyes from the strong and harsh afternoon sun, but underneath her fingers he was able to make out a pair of sloe-shaped eyes in a deep, forest green.

Taller than average but small boned, her legs took up most of the lissome body. With her lips held together in a tight line, she reached him.

“I’m Stacy Peters, Mr. Stamp.”

He stopped and planted his feet, his gaze shifting to her outstretched hand and then back up to her face without taking it. Her eyes narrowed into a determined glare and it looked as if she wasn’t going to back down until he shook it. With reluctance, he did.

Like the rest of her, her fingers were narrow and thin as they coiled around his.

A blast of heat instantly warmed and calmed his entire body like a few shots of his favorite Irish whiskey did after a rough and painful day. The subtle aroma of vanilla floated to him, filling his senses with the sweet fragrance. The persistent, throbbing ache in his left leg the liquor helped chase away was momentarily forgotten with his hand rooted in hers.

PEGGY’S WRITING QUIRKS

I’ve been told I have a very good ear for dialogue. How it sounds, what words work together, accents, inflections. I tend to think this is true because I’m basically a nosey person. I’m an habitual eavesdropper and people watcher, so listening to how people speak, the way they look and act when they talk, and what they say, are second nature to me.

I tell you this because of a funny writing quirk I have. At least I think it’s funny.

Most of you have heard of Dragon. No, not the Game of Thrones kind. The computer softwear speech-to-text kind. I use Dragon when I’m writing dialogue because actually speaking what I want to convey on the page makes the dialogue more fluid and natural feeling—as well as sounding—than simply thinking the dialogue up in my head and typing it out. I can speak much faster than I can type so I never lose my train of through or forget what I want to say in dialogue when I do it this way.

Now, when I speak my dialogue, I also get into character, like an actor does. If my character speaking is a man, I drop my voice a few notches, pitch it to lower tones, and speak concisely and succinctly. If my speaker is female, the pitch is raised, the tone softens ( unless it’s an argument or emotion-laden scene I’m writing) and the words are spoken with a more lyrical cadence. Once, I was playing the dialogue I’d just written between my hero and heroine back aloud from the computer and my husband happened to be coming up the stairs to my office. When he arrived he looked around, shook his head, and with confusion said, “I though you had people up here with you.”

“Nope. Just me,” I said back, secretly thrilled.

MY REVIEW

When I was offered the opportunity to read and review a book of Peggy’s, I didn’t think it twice. She’s a great author, and I couldn’t let this pass. Plus, she was the most awsome cooking tips throughout any of her stories and is happy to share with us her knowledge (Have you read the guest post she wrote for my blog? It’s about the 10 must-have items in every kitchen. You shouldn’t miss it!). Her stories are about love, but you can always see her passion for cooking in her stories.

So, here is my review:

“Tell me I’m not absoltely crazy to be doing this. Please?”

Stacy Peters is hands down a wonder woman. She is compassionate, she is driven, and she is crazy handy… she can honestly solve any difficulty presented in the line of duty. It’s impressive. This woman is a walking problem solver, and it’s impossible not to care about her immediatedly. So, when the story begins she’s asked to go and be the executive producer to one of the most challenging (and that’s putting it mildly) directors of cooking shows. She only agrees to go because she’s promised a great deal out of it, but, boy-oh-boy, it was nothing like she would expected.

He never gave her the chance. Looming over her, his face contorted with anger and something else that tugged at Stacy’s heart, he spat, “I don’t want you here. I don’t need you here, interfering. But it looks like it doesn’t matter to the network what I want or need, so I’m stuck with you. Fine. Just do your job. And only your job. Stay away from my daugher. She’s no concern of yours. Do you understand me?”

Dominic Stamp, or Nikko, is not the kind of main character you would expect. He’s far from charming, quite the opposite. He’s arrogant, stubborn, proud… not to mention volatile. At the begining of the story I wanted nothing more to slap him and tell him to chill. He’s rude to everyone, and I mean it. But as the story develops it is clear why he’s the way he is, and with Stacy in the mix he eventually becomes a person worthy of her admiration and love.

All in all, a fascinating, powerful man and one–she knew if she wasn’t working with–she’d like to know on a more personal level. But she was working with him and one thing Stacy never mixed was business and her private life. She’d learned the hard way it never worked out, and when it ended–as it always did–she was the one holding the baggage left in its wake.

It is clear from the begining that they’re attracted for each other (although it was hard to accept for me that they could place their differences aside and let it grow into more). There’s a lot going on around this character. Not only are they working togheter, but they both have a complicaded past (including Nikko being a single father). They both have different ways to cope with everything happening in their lives, and eventually learn to work together up to the point that hey fall in love and find their HEA.

Stacy hated to see anyone in pain, be it psychological or physical, she felt herself drawn to the two of them more with each passing day.

I loved the way Peggy made them relatable, presented them as human throughout the pages. Stacy stresses and gets headaches, recurs to yoga and aspirins to balance it all out. Sometimes even sneeks a break from all the madness happening all over the place. Nikko is so proud that he hides his problems from everyone, including her daugher (who has a set of her own), tries to build a relationship with his teenage kid following recommendations of her therapist, and so on. But what I enjoyed the most, was the series of sub-plots that enrich Stacy and Nikko’s story. It is really well written and something any romance reader will enjoy.

Tempting Little Tease, My Review

Today I have a great read for you, Tempting Little Tease by Kendall Ryan.

I HAD to read this book by Kendall. Even if it is the new book of a series of standalones, I’ve met the main character, Quinn, in the previous books. I really like her writing style, Kendall is a great writer. And I’m honored to review some of her books like Torrid Little Affair and Xo, Zach (possibly my favorite of hers). And let me tell you, her writing just gets better and better.

Take a look at the blurb below this lines and don’t miss my review of her latest book.

Blurb

A hot new standalone romance from New York Times bestseller, Kendall Ryan.

She’s the tutor I hired to teach me Italian.

She’s way too young for me, but she’s also gorgeous, bright and filled with a curiosity about life that I find incredibly refreshing.

It’s fucking adorable.

I’m old enough to know better, but this pretty young thing tempts me beyond belief. And for the first time in my life, I can see myself falling.

***

Is this what it’s like to be pursued by an older man? The complete confidence, the lack of expectations, the sincerity?

My God, it’s exhilarating.

Quinn Kingsley is totally unexpected. I’m moving to Italy in three weeks to teach English, and while I never expected something so real to develop between us so quickly, our chemistry is undeniable.

There’s something so sexy about this back and forth he and I share. Flirting with this man is like playing with fire, and I’m bound to get burned.

Io sono attratto da te. I’m attracted to you, he tells me.

But is our attraction enough to get us through the complications of a massive age gap and an international love affair?

Only one way to find out…

My Review

Alessandra is a twenty-two year old nanny that dreams about going to Italy. She has a part time job teaching Italian, that way she makes sure to perfect her language and meet interesting people… such as Quinn Kingsley. She’s serious about her job and passions, and devoted to those she loves. Unfortunately when she happens to meet and older man that immediately takes her breath away (since he’s everything she has dreamed of), she’s about to move to the other side of the world.

Quinn Kingsley is ever the gentleman, seeing to my comfort─and to my pleasure─ before his own.

Quinn is the oldest of the Kingsley brothers. He’s the one everyone relies on, the one in charge of everything, the one that works hard to make sure his family (and business) are well. He’s the responsible one. Therefore he’s also accused of being grumpy, and of giving every one a hard time. But the moment he meet’s Alessandra, who covers his Italian teacher for a number of lessons, he realizes that there was something missing in his life.

My mind races with ideas, thoughts of all the things I want to do for and to this beautiful young woman threatening to overwhelm me. I haven’t felt this strong about a woman since… well, ever, and it’s clear to me now that I have no choice but to give this relationship everything I have.

The relationship between this characters starts growing into love soon enough, but there’s a time limit for them being together, and they both now it. Alessandra doesn’t want everyone stopping her from following her dream, and Quinn knows that asking her to stay isn’t right for any of them.

Tempting. So. Fucking. Tempting. And sweet. And innocent. And gorgeous.

I  really enjoyed Quinn and Alessandra’s story. Half the time while I read the book, I wanted to have them admit to themselves how in love they were. But Alessadra was set in fulfilling her dream and I just wanted Quinn to tell her that he would wait for her, go with her, or make her stay and take her there later. None of that happened, but they did get their HEA. Great romance!

Recovered, My Review

Hey, guys!!!

Jay Crownover hit published to Recovered! The book that she exclusively wrote for her FB group is now available for anyone. And do you know what’s best? That is going to be $0.99 for a whole week!!!

Don’t miss the opportunity to read this fantastic book. Believe me, it’s awesome!!! Cable, the main character of the book, is now in my bookboyfriend list. Want more proof? Read my review at the end of the post. You won’t regret it.

Blurb

Affton

I hated Cable James McCaffrey.

He was entitled, spoiled, a user…and an addict.

He was out of control and didn’t bother trying to hide it.

He had everything anyone could want but still seemed miserable and lost.

Every move he made, every mistake he stumbled his way through, rubbed me the wrong way. However, I couldn’t stop myself from trying to save him from himself when no one else would. In the sweltering heat of the summer, Cable taught me that having it all means nothing if you can’t have the one thing you want more than anything else.

Cable

I was obsessed with Affton Reed.

She was rigid, uptight, and no fun. There was something about her innate goodness that called to me.

She acted like she was above all the normal faults and failures that clung to the rest of us like the scent of smoke after a fire.

I was infatuated with her, but that didn’t stop me from acting like she didn’t exist.

In the scorching heat of summer, Affton taught me that there is always a way back from the brink of despair. She showed me that the trick to having it all was realizing that it was already there, in my hands. All I had to do was hold onto it.

The road to recovery is full of twists and turns no matter who is in the driver’s seat.

My Review

She was supposed to be the girl next door, not pure temptation and sultry seduction.

Affton Reed is the sweet girl next door. She’s intelligent, dedicated and she’s willing to go the extra mile to have the education of her dreams. Since her mother was a drug abuser, it was obvious to her how a very popular boy at school was walking the same path. Sure she could do something for him, she reached out and ended up much more involved in his recovery that she ever envisioned.

One thing was for sure, nothing was going to be the same going forward. Everyone else had been a distraction, but Affton Reed, she was a destination. She was the place I wanted to go and maybe, just maybe, she was the place where I wanted to stay. She was the place I was going to have to work my ass off to reach.

Cable James McCaffrey is a spoiled, bored brat… and when rich kids don’t have much to do, they can end up in bad company and taking bad advice. He is someone who is quietly asking for help, even if he doesn’t know it. When Affton confronted him, he did what he did best, ignore her and keep using. Until so big and bad happened that he was forced to recovered.

He wouldn’t get better on his own. He couldn’t recover without help.

Enemies at first, Affton and Cable are forced by his mother to spend a summer in his family’s beach house. Cable wants nothing to do with anyone, but his forced by law to stay clean and attend therapy. Affton is blackmailed into helping him, and knowing he might end up having the same fate as her deceased mother, she accepts to play nanny for the rich kid. Now, where can this story possibly end?

“What are we doing?”

I had no idea, but I was positive it was going to be the best and worst thing that had ever happened to me.

“Well…I’m going to ruin you, and you…you’re going to do your best to save me.”

Nothing else but lovers.

I have to say that I LOVED this book. Sure, sure… it’s Jay, and I love everything she writes; but honestly, I think this could possibly be my favorite book of hers. I wish I was as brave and strong as Affton, I wish I had a hot bad boy to nurse. They way they interact and start falling in love, made me remember my younger years and all the possibilities that young love can bring. You have to read this book. I totally recommend it!!

If you think about it, love and hate really aren’t that much different when you got right down to it. Both made you crazy. Both made you do things you never thought you would ever do, and both were so, so easy to get lost and turned around in.

I loved that she hated me…and I hated that I was pretty fucking sure I was falling in love with her.

Point of Contact

Hello, everyone!

I’m happy to be part of yet another virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Point of contact seemed like such an interesting book that I knew I had to share it with you.

Melanie Hansen, author of Point of Contact, will be awarding a $50 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Go the the end of the post to find the link.

There’d forever been a thread running through Trevor Estes’s life—his son Riley, strong and constant like heartbeat. But when Riley is killed in combat, everything in Trevor’s life unravels into a mess he doesn’t know how to mourn.

Until Jesse Byrne, Riley’s friend and platoon mate, arrives on his doorstep with a box of Riley’s things. Jesse’s all-too-familiar grief provides an unlikely source of comfort for Trevor; knowing he’s not alone is exactly what he needs. Trevor never imagined he’d find someone who fills his heart with hope again. As the pair celebrate Riley’s memory, their unique bond deepens into something irreplaceable—and something neither man can live without.

But diving into a relationship can’t be so simple. Being together means Trevor risking the last link he has to his son…leaving Jesse to wonder if he’ll ever be enough, or if Trevor will always be haunted by the past.

Excerpt

Jesse tried it, and soon they were laughing, trying to top each other’s skywriting artwork, running through the box of sparklers until they were down to the last few.

Finally Trevor sank down on the stone bench, holding his aloft and looking up at the sky. “I miss you, Riley James. I love you.”

Jesse hoisted his sparkler up, too. “Miss you, Riles.”

Jesse headed inside, amused at the sight of Trevor making himself at home by brewing some coffee. His brown hair was flattened on one side, sticking up on the other, and he had a red crease in his cheek from where it’d been pressing against his hand.

Trevor was wearing an old pair of jeans that hung loosely on his thin frame, and a T-shirt with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows. His hands were long-fingered and graceful, and Jesse noticed with a jolt that he was wearing Riley’s watch, the oversize face almost swallowing his slender wrist.

The memory of Trevor stroking his tattoo a few hours ago sent another wave of inappropriate desire surging through him, and Jesse gulped. Jesus, get a grip! I’m his son’s friend! He won’t ever see me as anything but a kid.

And why should he? Besides Trevor being older, and way more experienced, he was dealing with a ton of emotional baggage, not the least of which, his recent breakup with the man he’d intended to marry, for fuck’s sake.

Get a grip, asshole. Seriously. He’s way out of your league and the last thing he needs is some stupid kid mooning over him. What he needs is a friend.

About the Author

Melanie Hansen likes to consider herself a cynic, but at heart she’s a hopeless romantic. Every morning she gets up before dawn to spend time with her characters, creating stories that are deeply emotional, sometimes heartbreaking, but in the end where love always wins. Melanie’s proud of the fact that two of her books have been named as RT Book Reviews Top Picks.

She grew up with an Air Force dad, ended up marrying a Navy man, and has lived and worked all over the country. Melanie hopes to bring these rich and varied life experiences to her stories about people finding love amidst real-life struggles.
