RUNWAY REPORT....Paris Fashion Week: Maison Margiela Fall 2017

Maison Margiela Fall 2017

WHAT: Maison Margiela Fall 2017. John Galliano designs for Maison Margiela. He was roundly praised for his Couture Collection for the fashion house back in January and for Ready-to-Wear he continued the Margiela "House Codes" of Deconstructed, Artisanal clothing with a chic twist. There was a theme consisting of 'Bird of Paradise" seen in the makeup and feather details. Raw-edged coats with cut-outs, plaids, python prints, Bolivian/Andes themes, elongated sleeved jackets were standouts of the collection.

RUNWAY REPORT....Paris Fashion Week: Saint Laurent Fall 2017

WHAT: Saint Laurent Fall 2017. Recently hired Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello showed his second collection for the famed French fashion house in Paris during the RTW Week. Vaccarello said he was inspired by one particular Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture 80's dress "with big sleeves" when designing this collection. There were lots of big sleeves, super strong shoulders, as well as sexy, uber-luxe clothing for the Hippest of all "it" girls to wear on a night out in Paris--or a yacht off the coast of Cannes or Morocco! Lots of leather, draping, sequins and micro-mini's...HOT HOT HOT!

TRENDS: Leather mini dresses, draped leather, 80's Super Shoulders, slouchy jackets.

WHO WORE WHAT?....89th Annual Academy Awards: Debbie Matenopoulos in Custom NIKOLAKI

Debbie Matenopoulpos in Custom NIKOLAKI--2017 Academy Awards

I am just beside myself at how GLAM GORGEOUS the beautiful and very talented Debbie Matenopoulous, Co-Host of "The Insider" Entertainment TV Show, looked at this year's Academy Awards Red Carpet. I am very proud to say that--along with my design partner David Paul--we designed and created this fabulous Custom NIKOLAKI gown for her!

Golden Girl: Debbie Matenopoulos in Custom NIKOLAKI--David Paul and I have collaborated on all of Debbie's awards show gowns in the past including this year's Golden Globes--as well as last year's--and the entire 2016 Awards Show Season (SAG Awards, Emmys, Oscars) . We created this gorgeous gown for Debbie after she approached us, asking us if we would make her a Custom NIKOLAKI. Done and done! The gown featured a blush colored silk sequined tulle, silk satin crepe lining, plunging neckline and silk chiffon one shoulder cascade cape.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....89th Annual Academy Awards: Jessica Biel in Kaufmanfranco

Jessica Biel in Kaufmanfranco Pre-Spring 2017

Jessica Biel aka Mrs. Justin Timberlake looked RAVISHING in this golden sequined gown from Kaufmanfranco Pre-Spring 2017 Collection. I loved the simple sheath silhouette, long raglan-seamed sleeves, small train, and especially the "Devore"-like sequined fabrication...

In terms of accessories, that Tiffany & Co. necklace was EVERYTHING! I also loved how she styled her hair in that chic center-parted chignon. She looked elegant and regal.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....89th Annual Academy Awards: Brie Larson in Custom Oscar de la Renta

Brie Larson in Custom Oscar de la Renta

Brie Larson attended last night's 2017 Academy Awards in this dramatic black gown from Oscar de la Renta. The custom-made dress was designed by Oscar de la Renta's new design duo Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia and featured a sculpted silhouette, cinched waist and ruffled volants trailing into a hem. She reminded me of a modern "Madame X" from the famous John Singer Sargent painting:

French socialite Virginie Amélie Avegno Gautreau in John Singer Sargent "Portrait of Madame X"

Pointed: The neckline was directly inspired from one of the runway looks (the pointed bustline jumpsuit in the right photo above) from the latest Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 collection.

I liked the drama and severe elegance of this gown! What did you guys think?

WHO WORE WHAT?.....89th Annual Academy Awards: Naomie Harris in Calvin Klein Collection

Naomie Harris in Custom Calvin Klein Collection

The stunning "Moonlight" actress, Naomie Harris, looked chic and modern in this white paillette gown from Calvin Klein Collection, from its new Creative Director, Raf Simons. As you may remember, Simons, was previously with Dior and now has been scooped up by the American fashion house.

The strapless dress featured a cocktail length main style with a small peek-a-boo cut-out in the front underbust section and a rectangular train in the back. The style was VERY MUCH in the design realm of the Belgian-born Simons with its clean, architectural shape and no-fuss aesthetic. This also marks the first time his newest designs for Calvin Klein Collection have appeared on a major red carpet. I loved her hair, and styling, especially the slightly mismatched ankle strapped yellow heels.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....89th Annual Academy Awards: Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017

The statuesque--and gorgeous--Charlize Theron attended last night's 2017 Academy Awards in Christian Dior Haute Couture. Theron is a long-time spokesmodel for the French fashion house so it was no shocker that she would wear Dior. The fan-pleated golden lame/black tulle gown was from the most recent Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 collection, designed by the new Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri. The dress evoked a 1950's Old Hollywood Glamour sensibility.

Slight Change: While the design was almost straight-off-the-runway, in terms of style, there were two slight changes to the bodice, with the addition of black tulle for more coverage and a cross-over effect at the center front.  To be honest, I wish they would have left it more open, because it did make it look more "top heavy", which Charlize is not.

I do LOVE those gorgeous Chopard diamond earrings!

So...What did you guys think of Charlize's Golden Gown choice? Old Hollywood Glamour or Too Top Heavy?
