KTLA News Los Angeles Gayle Anderson:

Gayle and Nick--Gayle Anderson of KTLA and Nick Verreos--FIDM Museum 27th Art of Motion Picture Costume Design Exhibition

First up, it was my morning show appearance with the AMAZING and one-and-only Gayle Anderson of KTLA! I cannot say this enough but I LOVE HER. I respect her. I admire her...I could go on. Besides her photographer/cameraman and producers, she is a ONE PERSON SHOW; besides reporting and doing the "TV Tap Dance" (as I like to call it), she is right there getting the images, the bios, the information for every costume designer, film, etc., literally as we are about to go LIVE on air. I do not know anyone else who does it the way she does it, and makes it all seem seamless and perfect. My call time was 4:30am for a 6am LIVE TV on-air segment and let me tell you, I would ONLY get up at 2:30am for this LADY! #LoveHer

Adrienne Alpert is another Southern California News Institution who I admire, love and very much respect. She is always THE FIRST news person I speak to on the Opening Night of the FIDM Museum's Exhibition.

Nick Verreos at FIDM San Diego 2019 Open House

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to visit FIDM San Diego and make a "Special Appearance" at their 2019 Open House. As the FIDM Open House website says...FIDM Open House is a wonderful opportunity to "Meet faculty, students, alumni, and Admissions Advisors as you explore the curriculum, experience student life, and tour our state-of-the-industry classrooms and workspaces. Plus, get an overview of scholarships and financial aid. There's no better way to find out this is the right college for you." It's a way to check out the school and see if it is where you want to study.

San Diego Welcome!--Nick Verreos at the FIDM San Diego 2019 Open House

As the Official Spokesperson and now in my additional capacity as the

That's a Wrap!--Thank you to everyone who attended the FIDM San Diego 2019 Open House; it was a pleasure meeting everyone and getting to talk to you about pursuing your fashion careers. See you next time SAN DIEGO!

PROJECT RUNWAY.....Bravo's "Project Runway" Season 17 Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour

Project Runway Style--Designs from the new season's designers of Bravo's "Project Runway"--Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

Last year, I was made a Consultant and Producer (!) of the NEW "Project Runway" returning to Bravo and I was extremely honored and excited to be part of the production team in making the new-and-improved "Project Runway" the best it can be (more on that in a later post!)...

Save The Date: March 14!--The poster featuring Bravo's "Project Runway" starring Supermodel Karlie Kloss and designer Christian Siriano: Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

I was doubly honored when Bravo TV recently contacted me with a great opportunity: For the launch of the new season, they wanted to showcase outfits/looks from the NEW SEASON'S designers at the Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, where they would officially launch the show.

Presenting Bravo's "Project Runway"!--Nick Verreos at the Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

NBC Universal Day at the Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

The TCA Press Tour is where TV critics from all over the world converge to be introduced to the cast of the latest TV shows. In a panel setting, the critics get to ask questions and it is used as a way to launch new (or re-vamped) TV shows, such as "Project Runway"...

Nick Verreos and David Paul at the Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

First, I was tasked--with the ever-so-trusty help of my better half, David Paul--to contact many of this new season's designers and have them mail to me designs from their "repertoire" (NOT from designs they created on the new season!). Then, I had to gather 10+ dress forms/display mannequins to show the designs (in varying sizes) and then, of course, get them all steamed, pressed and ready to be displayed to flank the new cast of the show--including Host and Judge Karlie Kloss , Mentor Christian Siriano and Judges Nina Garcia , Brandon Maxwell and ElaineWelteroth .

Here are photos:

Project Runway Designs--Looks from the designers of the new season of Bravo's "Project Runway" including Nadine Ralliford, Sonia Kasparian, Jhoan "Sebastian" Grey, Jamall Osterholm, Bishme Cromartie, Rakan Shams Aldeen, Kovid Kapoor, Afa Ah Loo, and Hester Sunshine-- Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

A "Project Runway" Gallery--Television Critics Association Winter 2019 Press Tour, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

After we were done onstage, we moved the dress forms over to a holding area where David and I prepped the looks beforehand. I decided to stage a mock "Gallery Exhibition" photo shoot since this room was so fabulous. This Langham Hotel  meeting room was called the Georgian Ballroom and was very old-school; harking back to the grand old Hollywood Glamour days...I could just imagine the 50's movie stars in their Jacques Fath couture, drinking their Martinis and smoking their cigarettes in it. Here are those photos:

Gallery Fab--Designs from designers of Season 17 "Project Runway" including Afa Ah Loo, Kovid Kapoor, Bishme Cromartie (Top Photo), Venny Etienne, Renee Hill, Hester Sunshine and Johan "Sebastian" Grey (Middle Photo), and Venny Etienne, Renee Hill and Hester Sunshine (Lower Photo), at the Georgian Ballroom, Langham Huntington Hotel Pasadena

At the end...

It's a Wrap!--All the dress forms/mannequins in the trunk of car...and in case you were wondering, I have a back-up camera!

RUNWAY REPORT.....Paris Haute Couture 2019: Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring 2019

Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019

WHAT: Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019.

INSPIRATION: Elie Saab said that the collection was this: “It’s a dream of luminous mermaids emerging from the waves and promenading along the sea.” This inspiration came across through folded drapes and pleats that mirrored the waves of the sea; luminous sequined fabrications that looked like liquid gold and silver as they were cut on the bias; hand-sewn applique embroidered swimsuits (Beaded Swimsuits anyone??); coral-like lace on nude netting...lots of gorgeous red carpet-perfect designs.

Balmain Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019

WHAT: Balmain Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019. This is Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing's first outing at haute couture for the famed French fashion house after nearly nine years there.

 Pierre Balmain, circa 1950's

INSPIRATION: Pearls were a central theme, as well as the sea, shells and coral. Rousteing was also inspired by Couture Grand Masters such as Yves Saint Laurent (isn't everyone??) and Pierre Balmain himself and his grand 1950's designs, showcasing ballgowns, fan-pleated suits, dresses.

Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019

WHAT: Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019. Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli created A FASHION MOMENT for this season's offering from the grand Italian Fashion House of Valentino. He delivered grand, beautiful designs with audacious colors, voluminous Alta Moda shapes, flawless couture workmanship that brought memories of the height of Haute Couture during the late 40's, 50's and 60's.

INSPIRATION: Pierpaolo Piccioli wondered "What if Cecil Beaton's 1948 photograph of those Charles James dresses could be with black women?"...

Before: Photograph by Cecil Beaton of models in Charles James gowns, circa 1948

RUNWAY REPORT.....Paris Haute Couture 2019: Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2019

Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019

WHAT: Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019.

INSPIRATION: Chanel Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by the 18th century and in particular, the exhibition “La Fabrique du luxe: Les marchands merciers parisiens au XVIIIe siècle” at the enchanting Musée Cognacq-Jay, a small museum in the Marais. The exhibit focuses on the Parisian merchants who supplied the wealthy of the 18th century with luxury goods of all sorts, from silken ribbons to gilded picture frames...to sumptuous furnishings.

Couture Details--Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019

COUTURE DETAILS: Hand-painted sequins, dried flowers dipped in resin that were embroidered or applied to materials like silk organza, chiffon, lace, leather and Chanel's handwoven tweeds. Lace was hand-painted or iced with silicone to suggest blue, pink and white china; tulle was shredded into strips so fine that it suggested a cloud of trim at the cuff and hem of a suit ensemble and sewn into dense grids over a base of filmy lace to create the illusion of plaid when seen from afar.

RUNWAY REPORT.....Paris Haute Couture 2019: Martin Margiela Artisanal Spring 2019

Martin Margiela Artisanal Spring/Summer 2019

WHAT: Martin Margiela Artisanal Collection Spring/Summer 2019 with John Galliano as the Creative Director.

INSPIRATION: John Galliano said his inspiration was decadence in art, film, literature. Galliano defines decadence as "the excess, the artifice, the decay" that takes on different forms in life...

The backdrop--created by the Margiela studio, evoked the dayglo hallucinogenic images of Kenny Scharf art-and-fashion haven, Club 57.

SEEN ON THE RUNWAY: Gender fluid (Is it male? Female? Who cares!), vividly colorful designs, inventive treatments in prints, hand embroidery, art reflective fabrics, exposed tailoring techniques...a Moto Jacket turned into a Jumpsuit...this is the future of "New Fashion".

INSPIRATION: For this season, he was inspired by the designer herself (naturally!) Elsa Schiaparelli, and by nature, flowers, childhood memories, constellations. He also looked to Schiaparelli's postwar designs as opposed to the 1930's which the designer is more known for.
