Friday Sketch: Smitten

Digital sketch in Manga Studio.

I drew this sketch while my husband Paul played a video of Chris Isaak singing "Wicked Game", which we agreed is pretty much sex in a song.

I always wonder about songs with a longevity like "Wicked Game".  Does Isaak ever get sick of singing it? Will he ever? As Paul observed, he probably still likes making girls swoon helplessly, so maybe not.

Wednesday Sindiecate: Whiteout

This week on the Sindiecate: Whiteout by Greg Rucka And Steve Lieber!

OK, Steve is one of my best, best friends. Five days a week, we are a spitball's length from each other in our studio, Periscope. (I am pretty sure that distance has been tested and confirmed.) So when Whiteout came around as the weekly Sindiecate theme, rather than think about what to draw, I asked Steve what moment from the series he thought would be cool to see.

Steve: Well, there's this bit in Whiteout: Melt where Carrie and this Russian dude fall down a deep, white crevasse, and then later they get it on in an igloo.

Me: OK, then.

I left out the igloo part.

This scene anticipates Steve's more recent work Underground, written by our homey Jeff Parker. In it, a lady Park Ranger falls down a deep, black cave with her male partner the day after they get it on in her apartment. That's pretty much where the similarities end, though.

Coming Soon: ROSE'S HEART in Double Feature Horror

Coming in March! I will have an eight-page story called Rose's Heart, written and drawn by me, in the Double Feature iPad app's next Horror issue!

Having this story come out would be super-cool in any case, but I'm especially excited to have it in Double Feature's app. Check it out: On each page, the reader can touch a little button on their iPad screen and get all sorts of extras! Each page has commentary, plus you can get a look at all the stages of the art!

Like this:

Full color art with letters

Full color art without letters

Art without color

Rough art

Neat, huh?

The Double Feature iPad app is free, and each issue has two 8-page stories for $.99! And if you don't have an iPad, you can still buy any of the Double Feature issues as a PDF for $.99 from their on line store.
