Flash Fiction Time!!! But remember, Just for tonight

This story is not for those under the age of 18 there is explicit material that should only be read by adults!!

He was the most despicable being alive. Or, that was what he kept telling himself. He couldn’t help it though. The bond was getting stronger every day and his wolf kept snarling in the background telling him to take her to claim her as his. He couldn’t though. He had to wait until she was ready to hear it.

He chuckled to himself when he remembered her ranting about losing her mind. She noticed his very human gestures and thought herself to be crazy. If only she knew what was really going on.

He shifted every night and sat on the edge of her bed watching her sleep. He swiped her hair back from her face and invaded her mind. It was something he could do with his mate. All shifters could. As the bond grew he could hear more and more of her thoughts. He could see her fantasies and grew hard at the idea of her fantasizing about him. Her eyes opened briefly and she looked at him with a puzzled frown before deciding this was a dream and becoming bold.

She reached up and drew him to her. His wolf howled excitedly in his mind at the thought of claiming its mate. The man was torn between right and wrong. He knew it was wrong but he let her pull him in for a searing kiss. The kiss was desperate all lips teeth and tongue. He couldn’t get enough of her and before long he flipped her over on to her back and was above her braced on his elbows. Kissing a trail down her neck and nipping her with his teeth. His wolf snarled again. His instinct was to take what he needs and never apologize. The man new better. He would enjoy kissing her in her sleep fueled haze but he would go no further. He would not take advantage of her sleep addled mind and risk losing her. His wolf attempted to push to the surface but he held him back.

He heard the consent in her mind. He heard what she really wanted and it nearly undid him. Her breathy moan just made it even worse. He finally conceded to his wolf and took what was his.

Just before he pushed himself inside her scorching hot heat he reminded his wolf of one thing.

“But remember, just for tonight.”

Author Spotlight with Groovy Lee

Thank you for this interview! I’d like to know more about you as a person first. What do you do when you’re not writing?

A. Hi, Ember-Raine. When I’m not writing, I’m watching cooking shows on TV, listening to my music collection, crocheting, working in my flower garden, or hanging out with my best friend–my daughter. And when it’s tennis season, I’m glued in front of my television screen watching it.

When did you start writing?

A. As soon as I learned how to read, my imagination began to grow to vivid proportions and I would write about adventures. I even had a neighborhood newspaper and comic books.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

A. When, on a popular morning talk show here in Nashville, Bookwoman held up my first suspense novel, Cause She’s A Good Girl, and highly recommended it. Wow!

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

A. France. That’s exactly where my next book is partly taking place. A couple of my books have a French influence in them. It’s a beautiful country.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

A. Give the house a good cleaning since I’ve been neglecting it. Call some friends to see how they’re doing; and organize my life.

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

A. My books always seem to end up in California. So, I think I’m headed for Miami Beach, Florida in my next one. Then maybe I’ll venture out to Spain or the Caribbean.

Back to your present book, A Body Resurrected, how did you publish it?

A. I self-published it through Kindle.

In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?

A. Only on the Internet and the local library. I couldn’t afford the trip to Egypt.

Why was writing A Body Resurrected so important to you?

A. It was the first time my daughter suggested I write a certain story. She knows how much I love watching movies with monsters in them. We were watching one such movie one day, and she said, “So, why don’t you write one?” The plot to my book began to grow then, all thanks to her. It was such fun writing, and she loves it, and that makes me happy.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

A. From something someone says or suggests. It could be the way someone looks. In my suspense novel, ‘Cause She’s A Good Girl’, I created one of the main characters in the image of Prince, because he was one good-looking man. Or I hear a song. ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ inspired one of the scenes in my romantic/suspense, ‘Colors In The Dark’. I think a lot of authors can attest to the fact that just about anything can spark your imagination and before you know it, a story begins to grow. I have to, at times, block things and warn my daughter not to suggest anything, or a story would form in my head with characters constantly talking until I finally write it all down.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.

A. I have a romantic/suspense in progress that supposed to be released in the fall, I hope. It’s still in draft stage, and it’s about a family heirloom that gives exact power to a billion-dollar dynasty to anyone who finds it. Family members are killing one another off to get their hands on it. The protagonist has no idea she has it in her possession. But, someone does.

This? or That?

Q: Alpha male or Rockstar? A. Rockstar, they’re so creative and talented.

Q: Winter or Summer? A. Summer, please. I hate winter.

Q: Earthquake or Tornado? A. Tornado, they’re so beautiful and dangerous.

Q: Coffee or Soda? A. I need my coffee.

Q: Your life is a movie would you rather be cast for an Action movie or a Comedy? A. Although my life would seem laughable at times, I would say Action. If you knew what I’ve had to deal with in my lifetime, action would come very close.

Coffee with Characters

I have decided to try something new! Every Tuesday I am going to interview a character from a book. I’m so pleased to announce that my guinea pig…er Guest! Yeah that’s right! My first guest is Rebecca Banks in Cass Alexander’s book Working On It!

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself! Tell us who you are and what you do! Are you the main character in the story or a supporting role? What do you do for a living? How old are you?

Tell us about your story. What is it about and what role do you play?

Hi! I’m Rebecca Banks. I’m 21 and a senior at Persimmon College. Working On It is my story. It’s pretty much about me finding my first boyfriend. And falling in love. And losing my virginity. And freaking out about it all, turning into the internal dialogue head case I don’t want to be. You know, all those great college moments many girls experience.

Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features?

Well, I cuss like a damn sailor. I’ve done it my whole life (we’ll blame my home environment for this one). I really like urban dictionaries and creative forms of expression—like combining four-letter words (or any naughty word) with other words. Like twatwaffle. Or dickweed. I shouldn’t speak like this, so I’m working on it.

Do you have any birthmarks or tattoos?

No, no markings on this body other than some freckles on my nose.

Would you ever want to go hang out with your author? If so, what would you do together?

I would love to hang with Cass! She’s got an affinity for foul language, too. I had to explain to her how to use the term, “Adolf Titler,” as an insult. I think she did well with it. If we were to hang out for a night, we’d probably go out to a bar, maybe dance a little. Or sit at home with some expensive beer (I don’t get much of that in college) and trade funny stories. Yes, I think I like option two better.

If you could have a super power what would it be, and why?

That’s a tough one. I kind of want to read other people’s minds. It would help me know if the crazy thoughts I have are normal. I’m guessing they’re not, but I could confirm this if I could read minds.

What is your biggest pet peeve when dealing with others?

I hate drama. And people that don’t have a sense of humor. So, I guess people that start shit and have sticks up their asses. If I give you some quality one-liners, have the decency to laugh.

What would I love the most about you?

I don’t want to sound full of it, but maybe my sense of humor? I take pride in making others smile. Life’s too short to be serious all the time.

What would I hate the most about you?

My potty mouth. Sometimes I think I overdo it. It’s like I was born with a broken filter or something. Oh, and I absolutely hate shopping. So, if you wanted me to go shopping with you, I would probably whine about it. Like a toddler. The entire time. And that’s annoying. Maybe you should think about that before you invite me shopping again.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?

Abso-freakin-lutely! I especially enjoyed how she talked about how good my body is and how attracted to me Evan has become. I work out all the time and it’s nice someone noticed. Oh, and she complemented the girls (my boobies) and my ass (my ass). The ( ) were for clarification, in case anyone needed it. She also made me sound smart, which I totally dig. I’m not sure how accurate that was, but I’m claiming it was a bullseye.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

Hanging out with friends, relaxing. Maybe going on a hike around campus? And finishing it with a quality make-out session in Evan’s room.

What is your greatest fear?

Sometimes I think I’m not good enough for Evan, that he’s down-grading from his ex-girlfriend. I suppose my greatest fear would be that he realizes it.

Someone is secretly in love with you. Who is it and how do you feel about that?

I think that would be my best guy friend, Brock. I don’t like thinking about it. It makes me feel icky since I view him as a brother. I also don’t want to hurt him, but I doubt he’d ever tell me, so I’m probably off the hook.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I’ve always been good with numbers and money. I have wanted to be in the business world forever. My father owns his own business (with my mother), and I’ve learned a lot about how to handle business affairs. When I was little, I used to dress up and carry a clipboard, yelling at my office workers, also known as the neighbor’s kids. I wasn’t very popular when I did that.

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?

Visit with my family. I wouldn’t want to die without telling them goodbye. I would consider telling Evan that I love him. But that’s scary as hell, so who knows if I’d have the balls to actually do it.

What is the one food you can’t live without?

Ice cream sandwiches. When I was a kid I wanted to own a grocery store and sit on a throne and have people bring me ice cream sandwiches. I was also a chubby kid, which explains a lot.

If they turned the book into a movie, who would be cast to play you?

Oh, good question! I really want it to be Chloe Grace Moretz. She’s attractive and funny. Good comedic timing. And she could kick someone’s ass and make it believable. Not that I’ve gotten into fights, but I prefer people to think I could kick their assess when necessary.

Thanks so much for answering my questions Rebecca! That was a lot of fun! Thank you for being with us today!

To pick up your copy of Working On It which I strongly recommend! (I will probably be reviewing in the near future!) I love Rebecca’s use of words like twatwaffle and assmunch in this book. It is a fun lighthearted read! Go to the Amazon link below!

Interview with Kay MacLeod Heirs of Power!

Thank you for this interview! I’d like to know more about you as a person first. What do you do when you’re not writing?

Thank you for having me, Ember!

There are things to do other than writing? Haha, I do use most of my free time for either working on a book, promotion, or learning writing craft. When I’m not doing any of that, I love gaming- I’m a huge Pokémon fan and I’ve played World of Warcraft for a long time. I enjoy anything fantasy related, like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons. I spend time with my church too, I play bass guitar there and we have a great time!

When did you start writing?

I started seriously at the end of 2014, but I have bits and pieces of stories from when I was at school. I can’t remember ever not having my head full of adventures. I have way more pictures I drew as a kid than pieces of writing because that was the best way I knew how to express what I was creating at the time.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

Just deciding to do it. Instead of thinking ‘I’d like to write a book’ I changed it to ‘I am going to write a book.’ That flick of a switch inside made a dream into reality, instead of sitting down and doing something when I felt like writing, I made a plan and stuck to it. There were a lot of harder things and more significant milestones but they wouldn’t have happened without that initial choice to pursue what I wanted to do.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

I would go to a quiet little house in the Lake District in the north-west of England. It has the most beautiful scenery, mountains all around and waterfalls everywhere. I’ve never lived there, but every time I visit I feel like I’m going home. I could happily cosy up and write there forever, looking at that landscape and listening to the rain.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

I would write, of course

Flash fiction!!! I know you want it!  Shoved the gun in his bloodied mouth

This is a bit darker than I have written before so it’s definitely not for the faint of heart! Enjoy!

Running through the woods on four legs was freeing. Luke loved his wolf form but he wasn’t in a position to go on a hunt. Somehow Loki’s men had found his mate before he did. The only way that was possible was powerful magic.“Luke, we got a trespasser on the property,” his beta and second in command said over the mind link.

“Where?”

“The northwest perimeter of the woods. He looks like a scout.” He growled.

“Is he conscious?”

“Of course not,” he replied offended.

“I’ll meet you back at the compound,” Luke replied.

He raced through the forest. Usually the sounds would calm him but not now. Now, all he could think about was the shifter on his property. The shifter that could possibly tell him where his mate was. He would find out too.

When he finally made it into the compound he shifted immediately. He walked briskly to his suite and grabbed some clothes. Nothing fancy, not for what he was planning. He walked down the stairs to the basement of the large building. It looked more like a dungeon with the iron barred cells that sat empty along the walls.

This was by far his favorite part of being Alpha. It gave him purpose and pride knowing he was protecting his pack. He would do anything necessary to protect them and he had done some unspeakable things over the years.

He felt the silver walled room before he was even ten feet away. He could feel the metal sapping his strength. That’s ok though, he didn’t need his strength. All he needed were his tools and he would have that animal telling him exactly what he needed to know. It wouldn’t be long before he found her and brought her back.

“Report,” he ordered as he walked into the silver room.

That room was the only place they could interrogate Loki’s spies. Anywhere else and they could use their mind link and tell him about their defenses. Luke’s men new better than to bring a prisoner or any outsider in while conscious.

“I told you where we found him and that he looks like a scout. He is just starting to come around,” Ben replied.

He reared back and punched the man in the face until his eyes snapped open and he moaned in pain. It only took a moment for his eyes to go wide with fear. The best part was watching his face scrunch up with concentration as he attempted to use his link with his alpha. Luke’s laugh was boisterous yet sinister.

“Having trouble?” He smirked and picked his chrome glock off the table full of tools. He would use every one of them before the night was over. It didn’t matter if he talked, not really. He would get a sick and twisted pleasure from ripping the man’s fingernails out one at a time. He always did. That was the risk they took coming to his territory. They all knew it too.

Advancing on the man slowly, Luke shoved the gun in his bloodied mouth and cocked it. His eyes went wide as he clenched his teeth around the barrel staring back defiantly.

“Where is she?” He asked ripping the gun from the man’s mouth with brutal force. He rested the barrel against the middle of his forehead and waited for a reply.

“Screw you!” The man shouted.

Luke smirked. He whipped his arm back and struck him in the jaw.

“Ben, hand me the pliers,” he said with an evil glint in his eye.

Ben handed over the pliers and Luke got to work. It was only minutes before the room was echoing with the man’s pain filled screams. It wouldn’t be enough to rip his fingernails out one by one. It never was. Grabbing the gun, Luke pointed it at his kneecap.

“You know what kind of bullets I have in this gun?”

“Do what you want to me. I won’t talk because Loki’s wrath will be much worse.” The man spit.

“Oh see, that’s where you’re wrong. See, Loki? He will just kill you and it will probably be quick and painless. Me? I will torture you slowly and then I will let you shift to heal yourself and then I will torture you again. How long do you think it will take for you to be begging me to just kill you already?”

The man’s tan skin turned an ugly shade of pasty white and he knew he had him.

“You don’t want to guess? That’s a shame. I will tell you anyway. The bullets they’re not silver. No they are your run of the mill hollowpoints. They will shatter your kneecap and no amount of shifting will get all the shrapnel out,” Luke laughed evilly and squeezed the trigger.

“Wait! Wait! I’ll tell you what you want to know. The girl is in California. A mountain town north of Los Angeles!” The man shrieked.

“Thank you,” Luke said and pulled the trigger.

Flash Fiction Time!!! Stop That!

Hey everyone! I apologize my flash fiction is super late this week! I have a little something different for you this week anyone up for a paranormal romance storyline?

I got a new dog this week the most beautiful pure white husky I have ever seen! He is the inspiration for this awesome story! I hope you enjoy it!

There was something weird about the dog she just got. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it. The man said he was a husky but she had never seen a husky that was pure white before. He looked like a beautiful arctic wolf. He had the bluest eyes and silky fur.

She watched him warily as he lounged on the couch in her little house. They say he laid there was almost…human. She shook off that thought and continued to stare until he pierced her with his blue eyed gaze. There was an eerie sort of intelligence behind those eyes and she shivered.

That’s it. No more Paranormal Romance novels for awhile!

She was seriously starting to lose it. So when the hair along his back stood on end and he growled low in his throat staring at the front door before a knock could even sound, she jumped a foot off the ground.

“Stop that,” she scolded and the dog whined.

Shaking her head in defeat, she walked to the front door and opened it to find a disheveled Mason standing on the other side. The growling intensified and she looked over at Luke sternly. The man she got him from had said he wouldn’t answer to anything else and to never baby talk to him like most people do to dogs so she shrugged and went on her way.

“Luke!” She shrieked as he lunged for Mason snarling.

“You need to get rid of that damn thing, Aurora,” Mason shouted as he jumped back.

Luke was in front of her now. Snapping and snarling pushing her back with his big body. She had heard somewhere that dogs were an excellent judge of character. Maybe Luke was right and the only one she needed to get rid of was Mason. She couldn’t figure out what the dogs problem was but she new they both couldn’t stay in her life because eventually someone was bound to get hurt.

“I can’t just get rid of him. The man said if I give him back then they will have to put him down.”

“It’s either him or me, Aurora.”

Luke looked up at her with sad eyes. It seemed those eyes knew exactly what they were saying. Her heart crumbled at the very idea of giving him up and what could happen to him. Looking up at the enraged Mason made her decision easy.

“I’m sorry Mason, but I can’t let them put him down and if you don’t like it then I guess this is goodbye,” she sighed.

Mason stormed off grumbling something about mangy mutts and she looked down at Luke. His eyes seemed to be laughing. Was it possible for a dog to look smug? Maybe I should see a shrink, she thought to herself. Luke yipped happily and jumped up to lick her face.

“Come on buddy, lets go get you some food.”

He jumped down and walked to the refrigerator wagging his tale the whole way. Aurora did a double take and shook her head in dismay.

“I seriously have to stop reading so many books,” she grumbled and the sound that fell from Luke’s mouth sounded like a laugh.
