Music is very important to me. In fact, I’d say it’s as vital to my life as writing is. I even majored in it at university. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, besides publish a book, but I loved it. So when it came to writing, it was only natural it would find its way in there somehow.
I’ve not hidden the fact that McKnley is inspired by Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale (see the resemblance?). I first saw Halestorm in concert in December 2015. Lzzy blew me away and I knew right then I wanted to create a character that encompassed her awesomeness. I hope McKnley fits this bill. But more than that, I wanted to write a book that was filled with as much passion for music (and bike racing) that I am.
At the end of No Place to Hide is a playlist I’ve compiled. All those songs are relevant to the characters and story. However only one encompasses No Place to Hide perfectly. That song is called My Heart I Surrender by I Prevail. It’s a tale of someone wondering about someone they used to know, used to love. They’re just like Cole. They wonder if they’ll ever be with the person they love, if they’ll ever be enough but know that no matter what, their heart belongs to the person from their past.
Cole and McKnley’s journey is full of ups and downs. They’ve both had pretty rough childhoods with less than perfect parents. Naturally, that influences any adult relationship they have. For McKnley in particular, it’s something she finds incredibly difficult to overcome. But this song shows the depth of the other person’s devotion, of the faith they have that someday they’ll be together.
I don’t know how many times I’ve listened to this song, but it’s up there! I love it and I don’t think I could find a more perfect song that describes No Place to Hide. So take a listen and then read the book, you won’t be disappointed!

Hard ball release blitz, Heather Stone

I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this book and chose to review it.

This was a sweet, quick read. Cole is quite the player at the beginning of the book, almost to the point where you dislike him. Mackenzie is a solid character. I think quite a lot of detail, and moments for drama were kept out of this book and for that I was a little disappointed. I would've liked some more drama, or at least, something with a little bit more neat I could stick my teeth into. A solid read but I wanted more.

I love how insightful he is and how neither of them are perfect. I like the touches of drama and the serious issues that are addressed. Dark Hearts is gentle, yet strong and I loved it!

I loved this book! It was a bit of a departure for Kaylee, it had a more mature, and a bit of a sexier feel to it. I loved how the relationship between Crew and Berklee developed. Crew especially was a great character. A typical Kaylee Alpha but that's what we like right? I also liked the quick cameo from Ridge, it made me miss those guys and wonder what they're up to.

Overall, another solid release from Kaylee. I highly recommend it!

I like these full lengths from Alexa Riley. They're so much more than their shorties. I like the drama and the danger we get in these books, but also the fact we get our much loved sexy times! His Alone is a great companion to everything for her, with your typical Alexa Alpha and the sweet heroine. I especially liked Paige, she's perhaps my favourite of all their girls. There's heat, there's drama, there's a bit of danger, what more can you want?

It’s Dad’s turn to scoff. “Reed Ryan is your best friend. There’s no way he would get your hopes up like this only to dash them. I knew it was a good move you becoming friends with them. It was a master stroke on my part, probably one of my best ideas.”
I want to tell him that you can’t force the kind of friendship Reed and I have, but I don’t. It’s better to let him think he controls things than argue with him.
“Yeah, Reed’s a good guy.”
“Who cares if he’s a good guy. All I care about is what kind of package he puts together for you,” is what he says. What he means is “I want to know what kind of commission I get as your manager and what other perks I’m able to get so I can big note to everyone else in the industry.”
“I’m sure you’ll be quick to remedy it if it isn’t to your satisfaction.”
“Damn right I will, can’t have my moneymaker treated like a second-class citizen, now can I?”
I know in his mind those words sound endearing, but to me they perfectly encompass our relationship. He’s not really my dad; he’s the manager of a rider who just won a Supermoto title and I’m nothing more than the guy on the bike who’s going to make him a shitload of money.
“Right, thanks,” I say.
“No need to thank me, son. This is what I do, what I live for.”
“How could I forget?” I ask. It seems like my whole life my dad’s been in the background waiting to pounce on whatever success I had and turning it into a deal for him, something to make him look good.
“Any other connections you made tonight that may have slipped under my radar?”
My dance with Knley flashes through my mind. “Nope, nothing I can think of.” Even though she made her feelings towards me crystal clear, I refuse to give up on her. I know what you’re thinking, that I’m not giving up on her because I like the thrill of the chase or some shit like that, but it’s not that at all. No, there’s something sad about Knley. When we were little, she shone as bright as a star. Now she still shines bright but it’s forced. It’s the way her smile is a little too big, her answers a little too enthusiastic. I can see it clear as day, which makes me wonder why no one else has caught onto it.
“Right, well if that’s all,” my dad says, bringing my attention back to the present.
“Yep, pretty much,” I tell him.
“I’ll keep an eye out for that Ryan Racing contract then.”
“You do that.”
