1000 Falls

Too many of us have become stuck in lives that aren’t going to work. Jobs that don’t pay or satisfy enough, lackluster relationships, unhealthy bodies or undisciplined minds.

We know there are changes we have to make, but we seem to lack the natural talent required to make them. Short of “magic” we’re imprisoned by planning and conducting our live’s as if our strengths and weaknesses were fixed.

What doesn’t work

Recycled self help B.S says to “maximize your strengths and mitigate our weaknesses...

Habits of Heroes

Before she finished her sentence, I could feel the tears start to burn my eyes and my throat began to tighten. I considered pulling off to the side of the road to spill out what would have been a life changing cry, but I was in tremendous pain from the burns I had on my face and shoulder and didn’t want to stop.

“This endless pacing or rocking or self-mutilation—“motor rituals,” as they are known—is of a piece with all the wondrous variations of obsessive-compulsive disorder… And indeed, it i...

Write Now: Navy SEAL's Journey To Becoming a Best Selling Author

Post originally featured on sofrep.com

When the contract for my first book, Raising Men: Lessons Navy SEALs Learned from Their Training and Taught to Their Sons, arrived, I had already experienced success as a performance writer. I had written how the principles of SEAL performance apply to all areas of life, producing papers and classes about mental management, adversity, performance health, leadership, memory techniques (like how I taught myself to memorize a deck of cards), and how attack d...

Legacy Caching - Message in a Nalgene Bottle

The idea came to me when I was sitting in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. It was one of those moments you experience when traveling: the feeling of mystery, intrigue and wonder. I was in awe; architectural feats of high arched ceilings, intricate artwork details and masonry surrounded me.

It was hot and sticky outside, yet the inside of the cathedral felt cool, dusty and grey, like a scene from an old spy movie. With all of the nooks, passages and obscure locations, I couldn't help but wonder h...

Leadership - On purpose

Hey, Watch What I Can Do!Often, we mistakenly qualify someone as a leader by their past ability to get themselves places that we want to go rather than their current ability to get us where we need to go.

This is why a great surfer might not be the best person to teach you how to surf, or why the best sales person isn’t always the most effective sales manager.

A leader is someone who can bring you to a place that you would not be able reach without their help.

Talented individual performers p...

Here’s why you don’t get enough exercise and sleep

We conducted a survey with our members and subscribers regarding exercise and sleep. Their responses confirmed the true obstacle to sufficient exercise and sleep… and it’s not what you think.

Shoot Better Business Better

So I met this guy in the parking lot

He was a bit older than me, had a “seasoned” look about him. Normally – like never – would I randomly approach someone in a parking lot, but this guy had a killer custom truck shell on the back of his truck and I had to know where he got it.

As I was checking out the shell I noticed several very familiar bags and cases in the truck's bed. The NRA sticker on the bumper could have been a giveaway, but the pistol cases and rifle bags left no question. This guy...

Your Patriotic Duty To Succeed

If you live in America you've won the jackpot

We’re too far away from the hard fought battles of survival and freedom to fully appreciate, and sufficiently protect, what’s been handed over to us by those who created this nation.

We've been given everything in this country, which is great; but, it has created a culture of complacency that we have all held onto for way too long.

It doesn't matter if you're unemployed and waiting for the "Perfect" job to pop up 3 miles away from your house or you'r...

5 Things The Lone Survivor Will Teach You

When we watch or read a story like "Lone Survivor" we’re not just pulled in because of the extraordinary ability of these men to persevere and overcome incredible adversity. We’re pulled in because they demonstrate what a human being is actually capable of.

They inspire and awaken us to our own unrealized potential. It’s not about luck or admiration – it’s about learning and taking action from their exemplary example.

We think these men are heroes because of the fierce battles fought and the ul...

Action and Actually Taking Some Part 1

Few people truly understand the meaning or purpose of action, which is why so many find themselves stuck. Stuck in their careers, stuck in their projects, stuck in their relationships, stuck in their lives.

Everyday we wake up, move about our life, and then head back to bed suffering levels of fatigue that are disproportionate to the progress we’ve made.

To gain traction and move forward, we must be able to clearly see the difference between action and movement, and we must become present to ou...
