LEARNING FROM YOUR JOY AND LEARNING YOUR THE PAST

Addressing the two questions that remain unanswered in the last blog, let’s start with a discussion on whether pain and failure are necessary to gain wisdom or perspective? Can we not extract a lesson from the good times and happy days in our lives? I personally believe that when something works out for us, the learning we receive from the successful experience is as important and as enriching as the lessons we obtain from a failed attempt.

The good days and the triumphant ventures give us i...

APPRECIATE YOUR PLANNING; ADJUST YOUR PLANS

In a society that is always running against time to make a mark on time, no one likes to be proved wrong and everyone wants to be perfect. But it is important to understand that not every venture can blossom into a success story. And this can happen despite planning everything to the last detail. Be it a personal relationship or a professional initiative, we learn and grow through mistakes, failures and losses. One mustn’t see these losses as the universe conspiring against you. See this as n...

BRINGING IN VISION: COMPLETION OF PERSONAL BRANDING

How do we go about creating a personal brand? It is not rocket science. It just requires us to execute a simple exercise with sincerity. Let’s start.

Step One. Write down the details of your life’s purpose and vision.

Step Two. Make a chart stating the details of the qualities you want to portray. Refer to my previous blog to go through them once again. Don’t be too hard on yourself by approaching this step with a clinical or straight-jacketed attitude. Keep your personal charm and qualities...

STEP ONE: FINDING THE QUALITIES YOU ADMIRE

The topic of discussion in some of my very first blogs was on the six dimensions within which humans function. A quick recall would identify them as spiritual (soul), mental (mind), physical (body), emotional (heart), time and environment. The synergy of the six dimensions is imperative if we are seeking a balanced and peaceful life. Why do I bring up these six aspects while discussing personal branding? It is because to build a promising brand, one must decide and implement how they want to...

HOW TO USE A PERSONAL BRAND: THE ELEMENT OF RESPECTFUL FEAR

A personal brand evokes respectful fear as you become very predictable with your high personal and vocational standards that are admired by all. Our developed virtues are a commitment and promise to ourselves before anyone else. And only then do they have certain validity for the world.

Capture93.

It is prudent to mention that double standards are easily decipherable and a ruse can be maintained for only so long. One can prepare a brand that is completely at odds with their true selves and propagate th...

HOW ARE YOU KNOWN? STRENGTHENING THE PERSONAL BRAND

You may be familiar with the concept of creating a brand for yourself. From the corporate and management perspective, branding would mean knowing how to market your career and personality. So in the conventional sense, at the core of personal branding is the idea that success stems from how well one package themselves. But I would like to differ from this perspective and present and discuss personal branding as a self-improvement concept from a character-ethic point of view.

Why is it import...

FINDING SOLUTIONS: THE TRUE VALUE OF EDUCATION

In my previous blog, I outlined the difference between knowledge and wisdom, the vitality of both and how the former must be transformed into the latter to build a better future. So if I know what is knowledge and wisdom, what does education mean, how is it related to the other two and where can we place it in the spectrum of human learning?

Capture91

Education is a mindset of human creativity. An educated person uses their knowledge and experience to create something new and raises this knowledge to...

FINE LINES: CHOOSING FROM KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM AND EDUCATION

In many blogs, I bring out the differences among terms that are used interchangeably but mean very different things. Education, knowledge and wisdom are three words that most think mean the same but are very different. They are all interrelated types of learning.

Capture90

What is knowledge? For me, it is the complete awareness of any subject.  I am able to explain it to anyone who has questions about it. But yes, it doesn’t necessarily translate into real-life usage. So a professor teaching a managem...

TRANSITIONAL PEOPLE: MAKING THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE

In the inspirational stories of underdogs who have emerged from difficult situations, I always find the presence of a mentor who gave them incredible guidance. Their mentors stepped in at the correct moment, rescuing talent from going to waste. Such people who rise from a miserable or average ecosystem and challenge status quo are called ‘Transition Persons.’

Transition Persons put an end to unfavourable practices and replace them with positive change. And they can be anyone. A transition pe...

MAKING THE MAGIC HAPPEN: CREATING SECONDARY LUCK

Success = Primary luck + Hard Work + Other Factors + Secondary Luck

Secondary luck has the capacity to completely counteract the shortcomings of initial luck. It is the good fortune that one achieves out of his or her own volition and thereby possess the capacity to completely reverse the lack of primary luck we had initially.

One of the core ideas mentioned in my blogs revolve around the uniqueness of one’s composition. The distribution of our strengths and weaknesses across the four dime...
