Stole away to Asheville this weekend with my better half, and we’re currently meandering through the Biltmore Estate. ✨ Soaking in all the little details and grandeur and finding inspiration in every corner. So far, the library and tapestry rooms have been my favorites. ✨ This is our first time in Asheville, so if you’ve been here before, let me know all the best restaurant recommendations! ✨ (at Biltmore Estate)

✨6 Odd Facts About Me✨
1. I love collecting things like old paper and postage stamps and books. Anything that makes me wonder about whose hands once held them long ago.
2. I’m terribly fond of dried flowers, leaves, and plants. There are vases of them in almost every room of my house (to my husband’s vast amusement).
3. I’m an INFJ and a 4 on the Enneagram. I’ve always been quiet and reserved and introspective. I could go for days living in a forest without talking to another human.
4. If I could turn into an animal, I’d choose a bird because I’d like to fly. I once imagined myself as a falcon, but on deeper examination, I’d probably be a songbird like a chickadee, due to the fact that I’m softhearted and I’m not sure if I could swoop down and grab a mouse in my talons.
5. I love black & white photography. There’s something so nostalgic and magical about it.
6. My favorite word is “incandescent.” ✨
What about you? Do you have any odd or fun facts you’d like to share? A favorite word? What’s your number on the Enneagram?✨

The snow has completely melted—it was a fleeting beauty. ❄️ I’ve noticed that my imagination and writing comes to life in winter. It all started when I drafted THE QUEEN’S RISING in the snowy, icy winter of 2015. I can still feel the distant magic of that season, a winter when the snow fell with a whisper and the grass glittered with frost and ice hung like fangs from branches and the stars burned cold. And the words flowed. ❄️ This winter has likewise been very productive for me, but I also remind myself it’s good to rest—it’s okay to rest. I rush from one thing to the next that sometimes I worry I miss the small beauty of things. So that’s one reason why I loved this past Saturday’s snow so dearly—it took me by surprise and I welcomed the gift of rest and delight it gave me, even if it was only for a day. ❄️ (at Georgia)

Woke up to snow falling this morning, and I confess that my dog and I have been like 2 kids in a candy shop.
