The Love of Three Oranges is now Playscripts' 5th most popular full length high school play!

So, remember a few weeks ago when I told you that Playscripts had given The Love of Three Oranges a starred recommendation for high schools? I glanced at the list of recommendations today and we were gone and I panicked for half a second that I ticked someone off and they removed us when I glanced slightly upwards and noticed something pretty frickin' spectacular.

We didn't just move onto the list of top ten most popular plays, we're all the way up at number five! And school...

Works in Progress Report

Guys… I've missed you! I feel like the proper blog posts are me giving a lecture and these kind of blog posts are just sitting down for a nice chat. I feel like I haven't had a moment of calm in weeks though my brother did visit and few weeks ago and it was very nice to get to spend some time with him.

So, where am I with my various projects? Well, to start with, I'm taking a class on Playwrighting this summer. It's *much* more work then I anticipated. Every week there is...

Playscripts gives The Love of Three Oranges a starred recommendation for high schools

A view from a stage showing the control booths...

There's a special section on the Playscripts website that serves as a portal for high school productions and drama classes. Divided into full length plays and short plays, it shows the best selling high school plays since Playscripts opened its virtual doors in 1998. In addition to the popular stand-by's they've also featured a few newly published plays as starred recommendations. And look what their #2 recommended full-length play for high schools is…

Something to shoot for…

As soon as I got my author copies of The Love of Three Oranges, I gave a copy to my parents. From that day in May until a few days ago, that copy has sat on their coffee table.

A few days ago, they had straightened up and finally moved it to the bookshelf.

Then, on Saturday, I brought them their copy of Daddy Issues. Later, I noticed they had put it on the coffee table in the exact same spot that Three Oranges had vacated. I fully expect it to stay there for a while.

Weirdly...

The Love of Three Oranges gets some class. Or, er, becomes a class.

How cool is this?

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at George Mason University is offering a class on my version of The Love of Three Oranges in the fall semester!

I'm flattered and also cannot help but wonder how I would do in such a class. It would be very depressing to fail a class about one's own play I think…

(I don't want to bury you under too much Three Oranges news but, at the same time, so much is happening at once!)

The Love of Three Oranges is one of the most popular adaptations on Playscripts!

A fan just pointed this out to me and I'm so thrilled they did because I had no idea this page even existed. Playscripts lists their top ten most popular adaptations on a page that's linked right from the homepage and, what do you know, Three Oranges is #5 in the Top Ten.

Check it:

When I saw this, my thought process went something like this:

Oh my gosh! It's in the Top Ten? That's so cool! And it's #5, too! I can't believe it's so high on the list. I'm insanely flattered.(with...

Should I changed my writing goal for the year? The perpetual debate.

I feel like I go through this every single year. I set a writing goal. Then I hem and haw over whether I should change it. Last year, I was afraid the fact that I was steadily meeting my goal meant it was too easy and wanted to increase it. (I eventually did since I met the original goal with time to spare.)

As regular readers know, I set a goal for 2011 of 500,000 words by the end of the year. This was part pie in the sky number, part "I should be able to do 50,000 words...
