WIP Wednesday - Maryam

An angry prisoner...

“I’m sorry. I’m only doing my duty.” No sign of guilt or pity any longer. Just firm resolve.“You can spout duty, you can cry about extinction, but you have no right to do this to me!”“I have the strength and the means. You are going to Kalquor.”This time, when the urge to slap him rose again, Maryam gave into it. She slapped that hard jaw, then she raced to the shelves holding her belongings and flung them at him. When she ran out of items to fling at the stoic alien, she ran back to him and pummeled him with fists, hurting herself. He showed no sign he felt any of her rage. He took her abuse for several minutes, hard and unflinching as stone. Later, she would wonder why he let her hit him, even if it didn’t do any harm. Maybe he agreed he deserved it.In any event, Kels eventually decided he’d had enough. He picked her up and tossed her on the bed. Maryam’s first terrified thought was he would join her, climbing on top of her to be the first of many who would force themselves on her, holding her down as he began her enslavement as a breeder. For a moment, something dark did flicker in his gaze. Then Kels turned and ordered the door open. It clicked locked behind him.Fear fled, replaced by fury. Maryam shrieked in helpless rage at the door of her prison, at the man who had put her in it.

Friday Fiver Challenge

Five clues about a character in the Kalquor universe. Can you name this person?

1. Here come the judge, here come the judge.

2. No, that's not a room. That's my closet.

3. I like the badly behaved ones. Sweet is nice, but not quite my style.

4. That one's not really my type. Does she have a sister?

5. I may not embarrass my clanmates in front of other potential clanmates, but it's awfully tempting.

Who am I?

TBT: Clan, Honor, and Empire

Instant attraction...

“Dr. Flencik, wait.”
The Imdiko turned to see Rajhir hurrying after him.  Flencik tried to steady his suddenly thudding heart at the sight of the Dramok coming.  It wasn’t easy when the councilman’s aide offered him a smile that he couldn’t help but answer.  Rajhir was an extremely handsome man, one he’d felt an instant attraction for.  That strong jaw, those long, elegant lines of his face ... Rajhir turned heads not because of his stature but because he was so damned good to look at.
Flencik held no hope that the dashing stunner had come after him for personal reasons.  Despite enjoying seeing the man heading his way, the Imdiko hoped that Ospar hadn’t come up with something new to add to his covert assignment.  Flencik felt he was in over his head as it was.Dreading what Rajhir might say, Flencik asked, “Did we forget something?”
The Dramok shook his long, sleek hair back as he reached him.  “No.  I thought I’d walk you to the in-house transport.”
Flencik’s mouth dropped open before he could stop it.  “Oh.  Thanks.”
He flushed, hearing the unadulterated pleasure in his own tone.  Blushing only increased his embarrassment.  Rajhir’s good looks and confident bearing kept flustering the Imdiko.  It didn’t help that the aide’s shirt and trousers, while not showy, were well-cut to show off a strong, perfectly proportioned body.  It gave Flencik all sorts of decadent thoughts.  By the ancestors, Rajhir looked better than any man had a right to.

Available at Amazon, Amazon UK, Nook, and Smashwords.  Also available in print.

WIP Wednesday - Maryam

A request Dramok Kels should refuse...but can't.

“What would my friend and the empire ask of us?”                “It’s big, Kels. We’ve found a compatible species to breed with.”                Kels’s heart nearly stopped. For a moment he couldn’t breathe. A compatible species? A sign of hope as Kalquorians teetered on the brink of extinction?                “Mother of All! Is this true?” he burst out when he could speak. “The entire empire must be celebrating! Of all times for me to be away!”                “It’s a miracle, isn’t it? But it’s also a closely guarded secret for the moment.”                “What? Why?”                “It’s the Earthers. Earther women have been proven capable of carrying our children.”                Kels’s earlier vision of Maryam—on her knees, offering him pleasure—erupted in his mind’s eye. His voice was raspy when he told Sebast, “There’s an Earther female on this station.”                “I know. You’ve seen her?”                “I’ve met her. She’s been playing chaperone to Briel these past days.”                Excitement colored Sebast’s voice. “That’s brilliant, Kels! Exactly what we needed to happen!”                “I take it you’d like me to invite her to come home with us?”                The pause that followed was so long, Kels thought they’d been disconnected. Just as he was about to check, Sebast spoke. “You can start with an invitation.”                Kels sensed a dark undercurrent to his friend’s tone. “Start with it? Then what, bribery?”                “If you must. If that doesn’t work—Kels, the order came from highest reaches of the government. One of the ruling committees of the council I’m not on, or perhaps even the Imperial Clan itself. We must have any Earther women we can lay hands on.”                It was Kels’s turn to be silent. Surely Sebast wasn’t telling him to take Maryam to Kalquor by force?

Friday Fiver Challenge

Five clues pointing to a Kalquor universe character. Can you guess who it is?

1. He saved me when it could have cost him everything. I'm more than happy to return the favor.

2. Note to self: eat only in well-lit restaurants and know the waiter.

3. Not my captain, but I'd follow him anywhere.

4. I'm a big man, but I'll squeeze into tight places to save the one I love.

5. Who needs a clan when you've found your one and only?

Who am I?

TBT: Alien Embrace

As delightful as Amelia Ryan’s flesh felt, it wasn’t so much her body that gave the Dramok pause.  It was that sweet vulnerability in the Earther’s eyes, that instant submission that too few women enjoyed.  Kalquorians, male and female alike, were mostly alpha creatures, dominant in some form or another.  The way Amelia Ryan had melted against Rajhir, had surrendered so beautifully as her heart thundered wildly in her chest ... it had made him hard in an instant.  It had also given rise to an almost instinctual urge to take control and care for her to the best of his ability.
The little enchantress was still weaving her spell over him, even halfway across the room.  Rajhir drank in the sight of her flesh glowing in the amber light.  He thought of how his brown hand had looked in contrast to the golden mounds of her breasts and the pink of her nipples.  He couldn’t wait to touch her burning skin again.  Soon, he promised himself.  Tonight, if possible.  To bury his dark flesh in her pale sweetness, to let her tender, soft flesh enclose him, consume him...
Available from Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.  Also in print.

WIP Wednesday - Maryam

Ah yes, those muscles. As hard as she’d tried to not gawk, the men had been an eyeful. And then some. Kels, built for power, his body a delicious menu of strength and sinew. The smaller but no less impressive Dergan, a taut specimen of coiled force. And lovely Pana, a vision of graceful masculinity, solid but lithe. All wearing those formsuits, that left very little to the imagination.                Maryam caught herself licking her lips. “Way to prove Earth gov right about how sinful women are in their thoughts,” she muttered to herself. On the heels of that, she chastised herself for considering herself immoral even in a passing thought. Earth’s restrictions on women were bullshit. Leaving her home planet and the ridiculous but severe pseudo-religious laws had been the best move she’d ever made.                Thank goodness that Earther patrol ship had left the day before. Even in Soln space, if her own kind had noticed her in the vicinity of Kalquorian men, authorities would have hauled her in for questioning—at the very least. She’d been on the receiving end of scowls from the patrol vessel’s crew merely for lunching in public with Briel.                “Screw Earth. Those jerks would have fallen all over themselves if Briel had given them a second glance, and no one would have said a word about it.”                She sighed over the double standard. Women on her home planet had it so much worse than the men. The longer she stayed away, the more certain Maryam was that she wouldn’t return. There was nothing for her there except memories of loss and disappointment.
