Morel Mushroom Frittata

Morel Mushroom Frittata

Im excited to show you this morel mushroom frittata I made yesterday. Or whatever day it was. AllTheDaysAreTheSame when you are trying to stay home. (Today is technically #StayHomeDay10 for me.)

Morel Season!

Like I said in my most recent Sunday Letter, its morel mushroom season in Northwest Arkansas. Since I foraged a bowlful, I wanted to make something special with them using what was on hand. Last year when I found morels, I added them to fettuccine. This year, I came up with a morel...

Sunday Letter: 03.22.2020

Sunday Letter

Greetings to my Sunday Letter friends who are social-distancing and sheltering-at-home,

Already we have several new buzz words attributed solely to COVID-19. Already they annoy me a bit. But I hear myself saying them (and writing them). I suppose my Sunday Letters are changing along with everything.

E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

Dont despair. We will navigate the craziness and come out on the other end. In fact, I have no problem being your Sunday morning cheerleader. This whole situation of...

Looking for the positive…

looking for the positive

Ive been looking for the positive more than ever. I highly recommend it during this time of the coronavirus. Goodness is out there; you may have to wade past the crazy and the nonsense, the conspiracies and the downright rude.

Or, simply step away from the news and look to the greening of nature.

The first place I turn when Im looking for positive is in the space of our own backyard. With the arrival of spring, thank goodness we can depend on warmer weather and sunnier skies. Of course there...

Sunday Letter: 03.08.2020

Dear Sunday Letter friends,

Did you remember to spring forward this morning? Love it or hate it, Daylight Saving Time began at 2 a.m. When I worked at the bank, I despised losing that hour of much needed sleep. It’s truly amazing how one hour can mess with your mind for weeks to come.

But yay for extra daylight after supper!

Brace Yourself

What a rollercoaster week we’ve had with Super Tuesday voting in several states (including Arkansas) and the coronavirus continuing to spread across the...

All the Tiny Weed Flowers

all the tiny weed flowers

I love this time of year when all the tiny weed flowers begin blooming. Tiny weed flowers are a sure sign that spring is just around the bend. I’ve already noticed a few butterflies flitting about in our yard!

In earliest spring after a long winter’s nap, the early butterflies and bees are hungry for nectar. Tiny weed flowers provide a sweet buffet for our earliest pollinators.

If your goal is to rid your yard of these plants, I encourage you to look at them in a different light.

A Few of...

Sunday Letter: 02.23.20

Sunday Letter

Good morning Sunday Letter friends,

Y’all—I can’t believe my new book will be out in 17 days. After all the thinking and scribbling and typing and editing and grinding of teeth, it only took 9 years and 17 days. LOL.

If I’m being honest, this is when the doubt creeps in.

A Healthy Dose of Doubt

This is when I start to worry no one will like my next book. That no one will read, or if they do, they won’t relate. ThisiswhenIstarttodoubteverythingI’veeverwrittenordoneorsaidorbelieved.

I suppose...

Sunday Letter: 02.16.2020

Sunday Letter

Good morning Sunday Letter friends. I’m a little under the weather, so this is more of a Sunday note, like the ones you passed in the hallway at school, jotted down at the end of class, slipped into your friend’s hand before library. A do-you-want-to-get-a-hamburger-after-school-at-the-Yellow-Jacket-Cafe-sort of thing.

Today’s Sunday Letter includes a giveaway so I didn’t want to skip it altogether. I intended to do this giveaway for Valentine’s Day but as you can see, I’m late.

Good thing...
